  1. Just off the Oasis. Didn't get the love swans, but the dining room brought us a special piece of chocolate cake (not the one you pay for), put a candle in it and sang to us. I didn't think they did that any more. I was impressed.

I wouldn't expect anything, but if any dept recognizes your special day, it will certainly make you feel special. I am smiling about it right now.:D

It was our 25th as well!!!

  2. I agree with all of the above. Also, the bars will give you a free glass of ginger ale to help (at least they did for me). The medical facility should also have some extra pills if you run out. Start taking the pills 2 nights before you leave for the cruise and then take at night when you go to bed. If you need to throw up, just do it! you will feel much better afterwards. Then drink some cold OJ or some cold water. Stay cool. Being warm makes me sicker! If barfing, leave the door to the bathroom open and have your significant other turn on the air conditioner. Also, here is a hint: If you see that they have put the sick sacks out by the stairways, either take a pill or carry one with you! They put them out for a reason. They know rough seas may be coming.

  3. Sorry, I am going to take the opposing answer here. No you cannot use any other discount when using an interline rate. We work for a US carrier and their airline website does NOT give us an interline rate. The airline website is not helpful with any discounts and is just an airline thing in name only. To get a true interline rate you need to go thru an agency. At least that is the way it works with our major US carrier. And, this is not with Royal, but I believe it is Holland (sorry, my memory is poor), but the interline rate might only be a stand-by fare. You could get to the pier and be turned away. Make sure you know what you are doing with these fares. Good luck.

  4. You won't get to spend anymore time down than your weakest link in the group. Sometimes they will let someone leave the group if they have really bad air skills (and send the back guide with them). Otherwise we all go down together and we all come up together. No Nitrox needed.

  5. Several points to make here. First, I don't think the ship is required to wait for you if you are on a ship sponsored excursion. I think they have to provide you with a means to get to the next port. (I am not sure of this.) Second, take a picture of the information on the compass. Third, confirm local time to ship time. Fourth, I was at a ship talk with an officer and she said that they will go to your room and retrieve your passport. They can and will go into your safe. Fifth, they pack up your belongs AFTER they have left port, so you do not get all your stuff back at the pier. Sixth, she said that they do call your emergency contact person (remember you give this to them when you are doing your reservation). If your contact person has your local itinerary, the ship will attempt to call your excursion to find out where you are. I am not sure if this was only on the ship we were on, but now I always leave a detailed itinerary with my emergency contact person back home. Seventh, tell your emergency contact person to print out the itinerary and give that information to anyone calling.

    Cruise critic rocks! Happy Easter!:D

  6. Go to the sprint website and read which islands it works on. We used it in St Thomas with no problems. Also Canada. But for some reason, it wouldn't work in Mexico. We called all technical people and even went to the store. Not a phone issue. They finally decided it was a Mexico issue and we should try it again next time. (Not very reassuring.) Each country is different and it changes sometimes. Go look at the website to be sure. Also, I forgot to turn off one of my buttons and was charged a huge amount because my phone hooked to the ship for a FEW MINUTES! Sprint adjusted the charges, but please make sure you know what you are doing with your phone.

    Good luck.:D

  7. You will just have enough time to get there and back but won't have time to really see any of the planes. Like others have said, the big planes aren't coming in yet that early in the day. It will make your day way too stressful with little reward.

  8. Be careful with Sprint. We just did the Pacific Northwest cruise starting in Vancouver and Ending in LA. Sprint has a new "free intl" plan so we turned it on. Worked great except I forgot to shut it off when we got back on the ship in Victoria. It was on for just a short time and NO! data was used. However, I got an alert that I was going to have a $60 charge on my bill. So, when we got to our next port I called and got it credited. It was a data charge from the ship, but that was about all the information the C/S rep could give me. I was surprised that they credited my account. Apparently their customer service is getting better. Wish the whole thing had not happened. Good luck.

  9. I would say the deep clean is required by Australia Customs as the ship docks in Perth. There are very strict customs regulations as Australia doesn't have many of the diseases, insects other countries have. They would want to make sure any bugs are exterminated.

They probably need to spray all drawers and cupboards in each cabin so that is why belongs need to be removed.

I second this answer. Plus, I do not want my clothing or anything else sprayed with any sanitizer/bug killer. Just pack it up and get it out of the way.

  10. Buy your own before hand and start taking them right before bed 2 nights before the cruise. Then your body will acclimate to them. They are wonderful!! Not sure what brand I use, but just knowing they will cure me, keeps me happy. If you start to get sick, just take one and you will be better within 15 minutes. They do make you sleepy though, so be prepared and start early. HAPPY CRUISIN'!!!

Also, if you are planning any sailing/snorkeling/scuba diving, take them with you on your excursion.

  11. Being on a cruise is like summer camp for adults. Awesome experience, so enjoy the time with RA as well. They can really make your vacation great! Same with the dining room staff. An unfriendly waiter can really put a damper on things.

I really enjoyed this thread. It is really getting me in the mood for summer camp!!!!

  12. I agree with the idea that the best places might be the private "islands" like Labadee or Coco Cay. Also, once you've booked, check with your roll call. I bet you could find a photographer on there who would get a kick out of it. Also, what is the hubby wearing? If he showed up with his bow tie that would make a cute shot.

  13. Not a Jr Suite expert, but I do love my Diamond perks. Make sure to go to the diamond lounge for a coffee in the morning and sit to watch the waves. It is so nice up there. They also have a small breakfast, but that coffee machine is addictive!! Also the nightly diamond lounge is awesome. Free drinks and hot appies. And the diamond concierge is nice if you need something (expedited tender tickets, reservations, print out of your on board accnt, etc...) Being Diamond changed our whole cruise. We loved it before, but we LOVE!!! it now.

  14. I have a few ideas. First, if you are Diamond or staying in a suite, check with your concierge. Second, contact the ship and see if they are going to be doing mass or have any other denomination on board that week. That reverend/father might be willing to help. Third (and probably a better idea), post this on your roll call!!! There may be someone there who will be willing to help you. You might suddenly find many new friends on your roll call who would love to plan a ceremony for you.

    Good luck!
