  1. We always buy travel insurance. We were scheduled to fly to London for a week, then take a 12 day "Baltic" Cruise. We had to cancel due to some sudden health issues for my DW. (Nothing serious, but wanted to be cautious) After filing all the necessary paperwork, which was a breeze, we received a full refund for our flight, and cruise within 10 days. I would highly recommend insurance.

  2. Google "Fulton Place Parking New Orleans". We have used them before, and you can park there for as little as $8.00 per day. You can prepay on line. They have free shuttle service to and from the ship. Good security. You can't miss it. All up and down Convention Center Drive, they have signs out in the middle of the street on cruise day.

  3. Two of my all time favorites are "Phantom of the Opera" (seen it 6 times) and "Fiddler on the Roof" (seen that about 10 times). When I saw the "Producers", I laughed so hard my stomach hurt, it is very typical Mel Brooks. But the most memorable theater experience was seeing Yule Brenner in a live performance of "The King and I" at the "Pantages" Theater in Hollywood. "Auntie Maime" would be a good show too.

  4. I think the responses were invited based on the strongly worded opinion about "Cats" which IMO overshadowed the intended message of the question regarding alternative shows somewhat buried near the end of the commentary.

A valid point. I think there was a bit of "Tongue in Cheek Satire" in the whole thing. It's just too bad some people are quick with sarcasm before they try to figure out the intended message. For the record, I thought "Cats" thoroughly stunk! I'm smart enough, as I'm sure the OP is as well, to know that no one can force me to see it again, don't need someone to point that out to me.

  5. 7 day out of New Orleans to the Bahamas, includes round trip air fare from sfo, taxes, fees and tips, balcony cabin for 2, 1 is a senior.

Should I go for it? Sails feb 2015, RCCL.

1st trip post recession so a little nervous about pulling the trigger. Thanks in advance..

If you're comfortable with the price, then it's a good deal. If it was me, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat. As someone said, get to New Orleans the day before the ship leaves. Many hotels have free shuttle service to the Cruise port.

  6. Reading this subject brought to mind something I've always wondered, what's the purpose of a "Cabin Crawl?" Don't all the cabins in each category pretty much look the same? Do people decorate the inside of their cabins? (I've seen some pretty clever decorations on the outside of doors) Or, is it so some people can see how "The other people live?"

  7. You need to be in Holland during the proper season which is usually around the end of March into mid April (it does vary). The place to go is called Keukenhof Gardens (you can Google the place) which can be a day trip from Amsterdam. When we wanted to see the Tulips we simply flew into Amsterdam in early April, spend a few days, and then took a wonderful 14 day River cruise to Budapest. If you can find a repositioning cruise that would get you to Holland that time of the year, it is also an option. But the Tulip season is best enjoyed by spending time on land. We saw lots of Tulips by simply driving our rental car around Holland...especially in the area of Haarlem. But Keukenhof is such a special place for Tulip lovers that folks plan trips to Holland (from all over the world) just so they can spend a day at those amazing gardens.

    Good point. Thanks Hank.

  8. My Lovely Wife Opal has always wanted to go to Holland to "See the Tulips in Bloom". I would like to surprise Her with a Cruise for our 10th anniversary. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? We would be going next year.

    Thanks

  9. Read the insurance info closely. I am not an insurance expert, but I have stayed at HI Express :p and claimed on trip insurance.

You should be OK with secondary coverage. Typically, the drill is: pay out of pocket, submit bill to medical insurer, get their payment (full or partial) or denial, submit claim for reimbursement (for remaining o-o-p) to trip insurance, get check.

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to tell me. My only health coverage is through the V.A., and from what I understand, they don't cover anything when on vacation in another country.

    Thanks

  10. Hello to all

The Veteran's Administration (U.S.A.) is my primary health provider (Purple Heart, Service Connected Disability) does anyone know for sure if they will cover me for emergencies while visiting another country? I know that I need to contact them (the v.a.) directly next Tuesday after Memorial Day, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any past experience with this.

    Thanks

  11. Sometimes you can find a hotel that will let you park for free with a one night stay. If not, I would recommend that you look up "Fulton Rooftop Parking New Orleans" in on "Convention Center Blvd." You can park for as little as $8.00 per day, and they have free shuttles to and from the cruise terminal. The parking lot has pretty good security. You can miss it, on cruise day, they have a bunch of signs all along "Convention Center Blvd" We have used them before.

  12. The fact that He is willing to give it a try, says a lot about Him. Sounds like you have a good relationship of give and take on both sides. As a Vietnam Vet, I can tell you Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is real, but nothing that the love and affection of a good woman won't soothe.

Try to be as romantic as possible, give Him the best (three letter word here) ever. Make it a memorable experience for Him, and chances are you will win Him over.

  13. A little "Off Topic" Back in 1961, when I was in 6th grade, my teacher assigned the class to do a book report on "Any" book we wanted. I did mine on "The Carpet Baggers" by Harold Robbins, which was quite risque at that time. My teacher just about had a stroke. "Does your mother know you read this?" "Yeah, She gave it to me" He just shook His head and said "Well, at least you're reading"

  14. We booked an inside cabin on "The Brilliance" back in November for a Baltic cruise in Aug. Of this year. Right now an inside cabin is going for $700 more per person than what we paid. Balcony rooms are cheaper than inside rooms right now, but still $500 more than what we paid. Crazy!
