  1. Nothing to do with the young ‘un being female, then?
  2. The trip to Russian Far East sailing from Sapporo in Hokkaido, northern Japan was fabulous. When we travelled in 2017, it was on Silver Discoverer which SS no longer have. She was quirky but we enjoyed her. The embarkation pontoon was easier than on the Explorer as it was on the stern of the ship. We visited many isolated places around the Sea of Okhotsk and the scenery, wildlife, expedition staff and fellow passengers were wonderful. So many whales of so many breeds, birds, bear hunts (we didn’t spot one but were told they were nearby), Russian folklore and the best female Captain in the World. The Kuril Islands on the edge of the Ring of Fire are incredibly beautiful and we were blessed with sunny weather and calm seas.
  3. Que Sera Sera the time zones do converge but, especially in The Antarctic Peninsula, the land is quite a way north of the Pole so the zones are distinct. I believe Antarctic Peninsula is GMT -3 like Argentina to the north.
  4. The last expedition cruise we were on included the DVD as a gift. No charge.
  5. We agree with To the sunset. We used SPB and were in a group with four others from our ship plus two more in a minivan with driver and guide for two days. It was very efficient and moved at a pace which suited us all. The less able were allowed a rest while some of the others scurried up the hills.
  6. I think the Rose LP must be for 250 days thinking back to when we first had the treat.
  7. Yes, you are correct. Towels will be available as you leave the ship.
  8. Mysty, as Drron says, Silver Discoverer is no longer a Silversea ship. Obviously not the right calibre of Captain.
  9. If the weather is kind, walk to the top of Primrose Hill for views of the City. A short stroll from there is Camden, always an interesting spot. Marylebone High Street is also worth a visit.
  10. Silver Box arrives anything up to three months before your cruise and if you have used a TA will come via them. On expedition ships, including the Silver Galapagos tours are discussed and booked on board. Have a wonderful cruise. Galapagos is magical.
  11. Today will be a bumpy zodiac ride ashore, then a brief hike around parts of the island to see puffins and Arctic terns. It looks rough out there. Hope we make it! Time to gear up with every waterproof item of clothing we've brought. More later! JP when we went to Vigur in mid June we were soaked on the return trip. One of our friends had her life jacket inflate in the zodiac! They work. It was rather exciting. Hope you had fun and many thanks for the updates.
  12. Moss was on S Cloud Expedition with us in June. He disembarked on 18 June.
  13. We went in November and I wore a rash vest and swimming costume under the wet suit and was never cold.
