  1. I just came of the Pearl after a 19-night Panama Canal cruise out of Vancouver where we had an aft-facing cabin.

As soon as we boarded on the first day, we headed for the Summer Palace dining room where they were playing Christmas Carols. In Sept????

We went back for dinner and we were placed near the piano which was playing honkey-tonk music, which I love, but it was very loud and we could hardly talk among ourselves.

After than we decided to go to Indigo. We got there at opening every night except one when we were given a pager and a free glass of champagne. Because we were there at opening, we were able to get the same table and server every night. The food was delicious and came out piping hot every single service.

The entertainment in the lounges was so-so. One fellow sounded like Neil Diamond and did a lot of tributes to the Eagles, Beatles, etc. He was pretty good but when he asked for requests, he didn't know any of the songs I asked for.

The furnishings in the Spinnaker and Bliss lounges were pretty out-there.

But these minor issues in no way detracted from our enjoyment of the cruise. The crew was great, the ship in great shape and the food was great. What more could you ask? I'd sail on her again in a minute.

Thanks Santanna, I am doing the reverse to you but getting off in Los Angeles. Do you recall how many laundry bag specials they had on your transit? Thanks

  2. couple of things, 1st carpeting in hallways on floors with staterooms (cabins). While there is plenty of signage at the entrance to each deck, the fish in the carpet face toward the front (forward) of the ship. Late at night when you are tired or perhaps celebrated a bit to much, just remember that fish swim forward, that may help you from going the wrong direction. 2nd, if you are a coffee drinker, the best free coffee is in the buffet near the aft before the children's area and before going out to the great outdoors. That coffee machine freshly grounds each cup of coffee as you push the button.

While a bit pricey, the thermal suites on the Pearl are awesome (it was $249/person on our October Panama Canal cruise)and offer solitude and relaxation. Also a fantastic place for glacier viewing day in Alaska and also going through the Panama Canal or wherever your cruise takes you.

Feeling like you want to eat a little less one meal? Go to the Blue lagoon (soon to be O'Sheehans Pub) on deck 8 mid ship. Also a great place to people watch the atrium area or to catch an entertainment act if the chairs/couches in the atrium are occupied.

Thanks Deschoolie. I am on the Panama (Miami to LA) in April and had been wondering about the cost of the Spa Pass. How may days was your trip? Were there plenty of passes or did you need to purchase as soon as you were on board? What was included with the passes? Thanks heaps. Enjoying this thread, but I thought there would be way more info as this ship is so loved by so many.

  3. Just want to compliment the assistance given to me by the call centre. In particular Mr Edgar Garcia. I had the need to call Celebrity today with regards to an upcoming cruise and Mr Garcia went above and beyond to help me. My problem was note evin his area of responsibility but he took ownership of my problem and resolved it. I first spoke to him to outline my issues and he said that he could not do anythin at that time as the computers were doing some upgrade but if I called back in 30 minutes he would see if he could assist. I called back and was put straight through to Mr Garcia who was absolutely brilliant. If he is a good representation of the level of service that Celebrity provides then the cruise will be amazing. Thank you Edgar Garcia. You are a credit to Celebrity. Bruce R from Australia
