  1. Hello,

I will be going on a cruise (first time) from April 16 - April 20 and I will be in Nassau April 17th. I've heard you can purchase day passes for Atlantis at the park but because that week is considered 'high season' due to Good Friday - Im not sure they will run out of tickets or maybe shut down the park due to their availability. Is this true? Should I pay the excursion of $180 Carnival offers or buy them at the park? Can someone please give me any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

Check with majestictoursbahamas. They carry passes, and may have some availablel for easter week. They don't advertise, so you'll have to contact them for details.

  2. We are going to the bahamas in Dec and would like to do Atlantis but there is 6 of us. I looked at Comfort Suites but they are charging in extra $16 per person for electric surcharge and $5 per person for housekeeping. Is this normal? Is there a cheaper way to go?

Depending on your date, day passes should run you $139 pp/$80 for kids (current prices, but they may go up by next season).

With Comfort Suites, you would need 2 rooms, since you are allowed only 4 to a room max (You would only get 4 passes per room)

Extra charges and fees are normal in the bahamas.. All major resort charge these fees, along with taxes.

  3. It's a straight walk back, at least until you get into town. Don't worry, you can see the ships the whole time so you can't get lost. :)

My husband says Kalik is sort of like Corona. I'm not sure about walking around with a drink, although I can't see it being a problem. Hopefully someone else will know the answer. Maybe tiki or scubagirrl will chime in.

Scuba is on vacation until April 1st.. so I'll tell you what I know.

If you are not intoxicated and stumbling, you can bring along your drink .. many do. It should be covered, but mostly they don't care.

You'll see plenty cruisers stumbling around town with their "yard" from Senor Frogs.

IF.. you are drunk and disorderly, and you have a drink in your hand in public, they can charge you. (since it's technically illegal). It rarely happens. Only when a drunk takes a swing at a policeman or does something else stupid.

  4. Good tip, thanks! A few other questions:

    - Can the food/drink credit can be pooled across all in a given party (ie, a family of four has, in effect, a $160 food/drink credit)?

    - Can the food/drink credit be used at any of their restaurants, or just the pool/beach location?

    - Assuming they have a sundries/snack shop indoors, can the food/drink credit be used at this 'store' ?

    - Can the beach break tickets be purchased from the Hilton itself, or just the two Un-named Resellers ?

Food Credit can be pooled. We've done it several times.

It is only good at the Patio Grill between 11:30am and 4:30/5 when they close. In the event of bad weather, they will open either the aqua restaurant or bullion bar and they will set up to take the vouchers (still only between those hours, since they "cash out" at 5.

Beach break tickets can be purchased at the front desk.

According to their facebook page the hilton recommends bahamascruiseexcursions. They discount by $5 , as do the other vendors.

  5. Just checked date for my cruise in April, $465 through resort, $374 through Resort for a Day.

Point being - I was simply offering OP an option to book this. Do you work for Comfort Suites?

I'm just asking.. Since I've been stung by vendors before, I do my due diligence before using anyone. These board are full of people hawking their own websites, users need to be careful that they are getting the correct information.

Glad you got a good deal. I didn't find any.

  6. Cruising with a group and wondering how many people the bus would hold?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

Jitney bus holds about 30 ppl. But there will likely be others onboard. They leave every few minutes, so if you all don't fit on one, the next one will be leaving within 5 minutes.

  7. I used them in other destinations and like their service but NO I do not work for them. Seems like they are new in Nassau and used them for the Hilton British Colonial but I know Bahamas Shore Excursions has the same deal at the British Colonial so it didn't matter who I used...

As my name suggests I try to learn things... Aren't we all just looking for the best deal and experience?

I'm very leery of resellers. Since they really don't have access to the true inventory, and don't own a block of rooms like some big travel agencies, there's no way of knowing if you are gonna get bumped.

I've been stuck before in booking something thru a reseller, paying for a tour, then a month or so later getting my "reservation" rejected because there was no space or filled up. (By that time everything else is filled as well)

This has happened to several of my friends over the years as well.

I'd just rather book directly if possible.

  8. You didn't account for all the taxes and gratuities on CS website. It appears that the price on Resort for a Day includes all of that up front.

Scuba Girl - any thoughts here?

Do you work for R4D?? Seems all of your posts have something to do with this vendor?

  9. What dates did you try and for how many people? I want to make sure I find the best deal for me as well...

Sorry, I didn't write them down. I was just checking out the system. Using several different scenarios and upcoming summer dates.

The 11 day cancellation was a big issue for me. Since you really can't tell the weather conditions that far in advance. Even a week in advance is a stretch.

  10. You didn't account for all the taxes and gratuities on CS website. It appears that the price on Resort for a Day includes all of that up front.

Scuba Girl - any thoughts here?

Yes.. I did account for the extras.. price either the same or less in the 4 dates I tried. So it doesn't make sense to me to put in the middleman.

  11. So what was the latest that you could leave the island? I have seen people mention that the last ferry from Blue Lagoon is at 4pm. We are in port from 12-7pm. I would hate to arrive at noon, taking the time to get off the ship, then to get to the ferry station at Paradise and then the ride over (which most have mentioned is around 45-1 hour) and only be able to spend about 2 hours there. Any thoughts?

The ferry ride to Blue lagoon Island is 20 minutes/ 30 if the surf if rough.

During most of the year.. the last ferry is 4pm and the beach chairs are stacked at 3pm. In the summer months, there is a late program, and the last ferry leaves around 6pm This is for those who have a late program.

  12. Cheaper

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Don't know about that.. I tested several dates and got the same pricing or lower using the comfort suites website.

So unless there is a specific date that's is actually cheaper - that wouldn't make sense.

  13. does anyone know what the new price and "all inclusive" is at the Sheraton is?? Our cruise leaves Sunday and we were planning to try the Sheraton this time.

    I called yesterday (Wednesday 3/5)

    Here's what they said.

    Day Pass is $30

Day Pass with lunch is $50

Day Pass with indoor Buffet is $75

Same as it was last month. No word on when the prices will change to a full "all inclusive"

  14. Resort for a day is now offering comfort suites/Atlantis passes !

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Forums mobile app

What would be the benefit of doing this?

You would still have to check in to get your room card to bring to Atlantis.. Plus, the cancellation policy is 11 days in advance, where the hotel cancellation is 5 days.

  15. Hello, I have booked the Atlantis Aquaventure full day pass with Majestic Tours in the past but it looks like they no longer offer it. I know you can get it at Atlantis but the sell out most days so...Is Comfort Suites the only other option besides the cruise line? Someone please help!

    Thank you

Majestic still carries them.. they just can't advertise it. Contact them.. they will give you the info and how to purchase.

  16. I've been reading how you can book a room at comfort suites in Nausau and have full access to Atlantis and, for the day we will be there, it will be much cheaper than buying the pass through Carnival. I need some details though from someone who has done it.

Do you go to the hotel that morning and check in then go back later in the day and check out? Obviously, I won't be there the following day to check out? Any other information/tips on how this works is appreciated.

You can check in and check out at the same time. Atlantis is cashless, so bring a credit card.

  17. Hmm, I'm trying to figure this out.

With $59 for the entrance to Blue Lagoon, then it will require me to taxi over to Paradise ($4 pp??? for 8 people=$32). Then the ferry cost to the island (unsure of cost). Then of course back again. It sounds like this might cost more in the long run.

Looking at the ferry schedule, I believe it says that the last ferry is at 6pm, which would work out fine since we have to be on board by then.

Yes, you need to take a taxi to the Ferry Terminal on Paradise Island, but the ferry to Blue Lagoon Island is included in the entry fee. Last ferry back from Blue Lagoon is 4pm unless you are on a ships tour that stays longer. (which is unlikely). The ferry you are thinking of that ends at 6 is the water taxi. Different type of ferry and doesn't go to Blue lagoon. You probably won't need a cab back to the ship, the ferry will likely drop you downtown. Just ask which ferry goes downtown when you are ready to reboard.

  18. So if the Melia doesn't sell day passes at front desk anymore, is anyone sure if the ones for sale on "the banned website. dot com" will be honored?

Also, the Dream leaves at 2:00 (I know, whaaaattt??????). Do you think it's worth it for family of 5? It looks beautiful, and we'll have a sea day the following day.

I just got off the phone with Melia in Nassau 2 minutes ago.

$30 day passes are still available

    $50 with lunch at O'Grill

$75 with lunch at the indoor Buffet.

All available at the front desk. I asked about 3rd party vendors and the agent didn't know anything about them one way or the other.

  19. There was a link on a previous thread for a TripAdvisor review in which the writer had participated in a longer, interactive chocolate tour at Graycliff. She had described getting to make a chocolate bar. I'm wondering if anyone has ever done this? Would it be appropriate for children ages 7 and 11? Thanks in advance:)

    Here's a some contact info I received:

From Facebook: And for the children, we offer a tour focusing on the history of pirates in The Bahamas, and the vital roles they have played throughout Graycliff's lifetime, using interactive tools, including our beloved mascot, Captain Choco!!!

  20. You do realize that the marinade most likely has vinegar in it which is almost always made with wheat unless otherwise stated, right? Ketchup, mustard, and most salad dressings also have wheat ingredients unless specified as gluton free--the ones in DCL's condiment bar are not GF.

Quite a few liquors are not gluten free, especially whiskeys, some vodkas and some things like Baileys Irish Cream. Glad I'm not celiac..

  21. We will be in Nassau next Friday on a short cruise (party of 6) and are very interested in renting Jet Skiis. I know there have been lots of discussions about the dangers but we have rented in the Bahamas and Caribbean before and are experienced riders.

Do they offer these at Junakoo? If not, do they offer them at a beach that you do not have to buy a hotel day pass? We don't want to spend any extra money as we are planning on spending most of the day doing our own walking tour or playing on Junakoo. Just really want to get the jet skiis in while we are there.

I know there are several threads I am just super confused!

No jet skis allowed at Junkanoo, since it's inner harbour. You can find jet ski's at the Free beach at paradise Island (cabbage beach).. thing is.. the water is not always calm enough to even get into the water. So it's hit or miss.

Other place for jet ski's is cable Beach.. but you need a day pass at either wyndham or Melia to access them.

As far as danger.. doesn't matter if you know how to ride. Problem is that there are too many drivers and the beaches are congested with swimmers and snorkelers. We have serious.. if not fatal accidents on a regular basis.

Hotels DO NOT take responsibility for Jet ski and they are uninsured.

Drivers must have a valid license.

  22. I am thinking about doing the day pass to British Colonial Hilton, so we will be within walking distance of the port. Are there other things to se within walking distance??

    Thanks

The Hilton is a 5-8 minute walk from the port exit.

Downtown Nassau is just outside the port gate.

You'll find the main shopping and dining area, as well as the wharf with all the tour operators picking up. It's the main area in Nassau.

There is also an historic walking tour, that includes Rawson Square, Parliament, Government house, the Library, Queens Staircase, Fort Fincastle, gregory arch and a handful of gorgeous churches.

Check Frommers for a print out and map of the walking tour.

  23. Here's the newest update regarding Wyndham Day Passes

    Thanks CCturner

Melia is not sharing their area any longer.

Melia is doing a more all-inclusive thing so paying for Wyndham does NOT give you access to them;-)

The day passes are now $30, not $20.

Our children, 5 and 8, are free;-)

They have a $10 towel deposit that you get back.

The swim-up bar is still closed.

    The slide is OPEN!
