We have just managed to get on this cruise subject to confirmation. Do you think the ports will be cold and also crossing to New York? I cannot find a roll call either!

I’d like to see a roll call for this cruise also. We just managed to get on it. I’m wondering if the ports will be cold and if so crossing to New York. Any thoughts??

  3. Hi. Just an update on when we are now intending going on this cruise. October there is a Cook Islands and Tahiti cruise and am wondering how this would be for teens. It is school holidays in New Zealand. There are two days at sea and am wondering also how rough this stretch of water can be. Many thanks.

  4. Hi. We’re looking at booking this cruise that leaves San Francisco and goes to Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, San Diego and Ensenada. We would have four teenagers and I’m wondering if there would be other teens on Board. We’re from New Zealand so am not sure if American school holidays are at that time or would this cruise be all older people. In this case would our teens be bored or does the ship still cater for this age group.  Also would it be possible to take  the teens to Magic Mountain or Unicersal Studios on the day the ship is in LA. It arrives at 7 am doesn’t leave until 9 pm. Many thanks for any feedback.

  5. Thank you so much for your replies. I won’t hesitate now on booking the cruise on Voyager. I do like the all inclusive option with Regent. We enjoyed the Navigator but at times the vibration wasn’t good. I guess there are many people who will criticise anything. We’ve been on about 20 cruises and enjoyed everyone with P & O Pacific ships around Nee Zealand and Australia being the lowest on our list!!

  6. I’ve been reading reviews for this ship which seem to be very critical and an overall rating of 3.5 on Cruisecritic. We spent 28 days on the Navigator last year and loved it. We’re looking at booking a cruise on the Voyager in the Mediterranean and would like to hear from anyone who has been on this ship as to what it is really like and if anyone knows how it compares to the Navigator. Many thanks.

  7. Hi Wendy

We are doing the 14 day cruise to the Marquesas Islands in August. Could you please let me know if there is anything to do or see at the planes we stop at. Did you do any of the shore excursions and if so could you please let me know which ones were worth doing or the best to do. My husband thought these islands were like Bora Bora and Moorea but not so!! I think it would be boring not to go on a shore excursion at least on one of the islands. My husband has a heart complaint so not sure how rough the 4 wheel drive tours are. Many thanks. Cheryl

  8. I've now read that the marina is only open a couple of times per trip and only for a short period of time. This is really disappointed as all the glossy brochures and web site emphasise this as being a real plus for the Paul Gaugin. Could someone please confirm this for me.

Also is the casino open every night including the stopover nights in Bora Bora and Moorea?

    Many thanks.

  9. Thank you for your replies. My husband has atrial fibulation controlled by medication but wouldn't be able to do four wheel drive tours etc in the Marquesas Islands.

Is there much to see just by wandering around at each port? I'm still concerned about being so remote so will have a chat to the travel agent.

It would seem that the 7 or 10 day cruise would be more suitable.

  10. Thank you for your replies. One of my major worries is that my husband has atrial fibulation which is controlled by medication but if anything happened to him when we are at the Marquesas Islands then the concern is how to get him to hospital. I understand that the Paul Gaugin only has a doctor and not a hospital on board. He was evacuated from a cruise last year and was in intensive care in Canada then in hospital for two weeks. We're from New Zealand. I don't even think that there are airports at the Marquesas. My husband booked this cruise and didn't realise how remote the Marquesas Islands are. He paid for air fares and pre and post accommodation also. I'll ask his cardiologist what we should do or if he will be ok.

  11. Hi

My husband booked us on this cruise and I'm really worried about the Marquesas Islands part. I would much rather have done the Society or even Society and Tuamotos cruises. I don't really like 4 wheel drive tours inland and love beaches and swimming. I'm concerned about the marina on the Paul Gaugin as I notice it is only open for two periods and they're both in the Society islands and this was one of the attractions for me also. Is it possible to just go off the ship in the Marquesas Islands and wander around and is there much to see, and is it possible to swim in the bays where the ship goes to? Perhaps we should book on at least one (or maybe two) tour(s).

I'd really like some advice - so I can sleep at night as am very worried. I'd thought of taking up a hobby or learning to play bridge!! Many thanks everyone.

  12. I assume that the Paul Gauguin has a doctor on board and am just wondering about the hospital facilities on board. My husband was recently taken to hospital from the Regent Seven Seas Navigator with heart failure and they had excellent hospital facilities on board. We're looking at a cruise next year so all will be well by then but it's just nice to know.
