Thanks for the heads up! Aside from HiRO, were there any other water shows like Aqua Nation on your sailing?

Yes, AquaNation was shown twice in the afternoon of the last day. I did not go to see this.

  2. We got off Symphony on Sunday. Iskate 2.0 was shown twice on the last day. I went to the earlier show and there were still spare seats. I got there about 20 minutes before show time and had my pick of front row seats.

  3. Does anybody have any firsthand experience on how the diamond vouchers work on cruises from Australia? We are sailing on Ovation in February and I just had a look at the drinks menus. I noticed that all cocktails are $15. As per the rules, the vouchers cover drinks up to $14. Are they actually charging the additional $1 per drink? I am absolutely fine if they do, but I am just curious what to expect.

I wonder about the volatility of LNG as opposed to diesel pertaining to leaks or fueling.  Will the Icon be a floating bomb?  Inherent dangers when refueling?  I’ve heard people are even told not to smoke on the open decks while fueling.
I know it sounds silly, but how much more dangerous is LNG over diesel on a ship?

Also, I thought the engines could be run on LNG or diesel.

There are already 7 LNG-powered ships in operation, which are mainly operated by the Carnival corporation. Disney Cruise Line also operates a LNG-powered ship. The first LNG-powered cruise ship (AIDAnova) went into service in 2018. This is not a new technology.

    Just got our block.

    It is for the Anthem.

We earned it on the Grandeur over 2 1/2 years ago and have sailed the Anthem 3 times since. LOL

Thank you, Royal Caribbean, it is beautiful.

I would not mind at all if I got my block for a different ship. I will “earn” my first block on Odyssey next month. Next cruise after this is on Ovation. Ovation is my special ship. I would rather have Ovation block than an Odyssey one. Of course, this almost guarantees that I will get my first block on Odyssey?

Is this different for every ship? We were on Ovation and Anthem late last year and will be on Quantum in a few days. We found NO ice cream in the WJ (there might have been gelato or something that you had to pay for) so the only choices were in the MDR (generic vanilla/choc/strawberry were the only flavors available) or that horrible (IMHO) soft-serve chemical stuff. Not even any frozen yogurt!

I have had proper ice cream in the Windjammer on both Ovation and Quantum in May, but it was only available at dinner. Flavours were limited to the generic flavours you mentioned and then one flavour of the day. I loved the salted caramel.

Does anyone know how long Joff Eaton will be on Anthem?   We had him many years ago and absolutly loved him.  We are sailing on Anthem in November (Thanksgiving week) and would love to have him again.

I have no insider knowledge, but historically Joff has been U.K. based in the summer and Australia based in winter. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he may be on Ovation in February.

  8. We did both in a similar time frame this year with a weekend in Seattle in the middle. We loved both, but for us Quantum had a slight edge. We went to Icy Strait Point and having the extra port day definitely was a bonus. Next time, we would definitely love to visit Sitka.

Having a proper port day at Victoria on Ovation was nice. We took the public bus to Butchard Gardens, which was amazing and still had time to do a little sightseeing in Victoria.

sailed with him, he's one of the invisible ones. But then again I sailed with him when he was in his first year as a master. Perhaps he's mellowed since then.

He kept a low profile on our cruise as well. I saw him once in the solarium passing through when we were docked at Icy Strait Point.
