I second this. One reason we sometimes opt to dine at the buffet instead of the MDR is the ease of getting a table with an ocean view. Yep, it's important to us.I'd like a more open dining room, with more windows. One of the main reasons my wife and I always go with early seating dinner is that we would have potentially nice views in the event that we are seated by a window, but if they open it up enough, everyone could theoretically have a great view.

THAT would be cool.I’d love to see a translucent funnel that would be illuminated at night.

That they were Conquest class.;p

Enjoy your new FREE perks!

I dunno, but we've never found ours missing. Most seem to do it this way, judging from the number of bags outside cabin doors on the last night. If a lot have come up missing, I'm sure we would have heard about at least on case of this happening here on CC.Wonder how often the last people getting off find their luggage missing? -
Yes, you will be given platinum status for the entirety of the cruise. Nothing you need to do. Your boarding pass and luggage tags will say, "priority."

Is this a typo? :)I loved the Liberty but dislike the Freedom and really disliked the Liberty. I do like the conquest class set upOur first cruise was on the Conquest, second was on the Valor, etc... The familiarity may be what I enjoy about them. I've never been on smaller ships, so I can't compare to them, really. I just prefer the size of the Conquest class to the size of the Dream class. I like the Dream class, as long as I can get a cove balcony, but they are second place for me.

I don't know that I have a single favorite ship, but the Conquest class is my favorite class. I like those ships because they are, for me, the Goldilocks ships, not too big, not too small.... just right.

Oh yeah! I remember that. I remember checking my VIFP specials every day, hoping I would get a free one. Never happened, but I'm glad you got it! :)No it’s when they just chose past cruisers at random and gave them a free cabin. I though it was a scam so I called Carnival and nope....totally legitimate do I booked the Breeze for a six nighter. -
Casino offer?May 2014 free cabin, just paid taxes and port fees. -
Good for you! Lucky thing your last name wasn't Zebrowski! :)It was a unique circumstance. They had just instituted the loyalty program, we were one of two couples on the ship that were platinum. They had a “situation” where they had 3 people in an ocean view that slept two and they put in a rollaway which they refused (inside room). Our old room was a sleep 3 oceanview. They moved us to the owner suite and them to our room. When I asked they said they were not putting this family in the owners suite so they went to the two plats on the ship. My last name came before the other plat alphabetically......soSent from my iPad using Forums

Just curious how many of you get these amazing deals. Do you have to book last minute to find rates like many of you mentioned and is it usually for interior cabins? Thanks!
I think you'll find that the answer from each person is different, for example, casino offer, last minute deal, etc... In our case, it was a last minute deal, sort of (about a month in advance) and it was during a slow time, a few days before Thanksgiving. Casino offers and such aside, the time of the year is the biggest difference in pricing. Last minute deals aren't what they used to be, since most ships are already full or almost full, nowadays, a week or two prior to sail date, if not earlier.

Was that something that anyone could have taken advantage of, or was it just for "certain" people?Booked a 5 day on Ecstasy with an ocean view for $369/person, got on board and upgraded at the peer for free to the Owners suite.Sent from my iPad using Forums

We did a five night Western cruise from New Orleans maybe five or six years ago for about $700, including air. This was for a balcony cabin (two people) in a good location. Not likely to be able to do that again... ever. I haven't seen any real bargains, cruise or air, in quite some time. Cabins are being filled pretty easily nowadays, as are plane seats apparently.

You are welcome. I will try to remember to dig this thread back up after the cruise and report. Should I forget, dig it up for me. :)thanks .. we will too. if i can remember, i may check back and see how the excursion was for you. thanks -
No, our cruise isn't until September. I did inquire with my PVP about this incident. He assures me that whenever there is an accident/incident with any tour company that Carnival rechecks with every one of them to make sure they are meeting safety standards. Wish I could tell you more, but that's all I know. Since I've heard no news indicating otherwise, I have to assume this incident really was just accident and there was nothing nefarious about it. We are keeping the excursion.towel Critter,Have you been on your coastal cruise excursion yet in Princess Cays? Just booked it on Carnival for October and was interested in how it was for you?
-
I guess it's just luck of the draw. We have booked a balcony guarantee three times in the past and got great locations two out of three times. One doesn't always get a poor location. My experiences bear that out.

Will continue with Carnival. We drink very little if any and so have never purchased the drink package. I can't imagine choosing a vacation based on how much booze I can get. I like to remember my vacations. ;) But that's just me.Hi:We are platinum on Carnival, but have taken a few years off from cruising. In the time we've been away, both NCL and MSC have started to offer fares with the Unlimited Drink Option included as a perk. Now that we are looking to book another cruise, I have to admit that these perks are very enticing and swaying us away from Carnival, whose drinks package is very expensive to book. I'm just wondering if others are feeling the same?

Both horrible, next time book earlier.[/quote
LOL THANKS! BUT have you stayed in either to support your opinion?
He/she won't respond to your question. They never do. Just ignore it/them (literally). I wish I could answer your question, but have never stayed in either location. I assume both will be noisy. If you are a light sleeper you might want to take ear plugs. These aren't ideal room locations, but I realize sometimes you have to take what you can get. Happy cruising!

Thanks.Well actually I think the shows alone are equal on gem versus a typical Carnival cruise. The other entertainment on Carnival is better, the comedy shows being a big reason for that.Obviously this is just my personal opinion. Daytime was comparable with bingo, trivia and deck chairs in the sun being my choice of daytime activities. Night time Carnival wins over Gem and Breakaway blew everyone out of the water (pun intended).
-
Enjoy the Triumph. We did! Yep, shows are good on the Triumph, whatever the reason.
-
Not so much shows, just stuff to do at night. We went to 1 show on the Gem, it actually reminded me of the old ensemble shows on Carnival, absolutely nothing like Burn the Floor and Rock of Ages on Breakaway, those were way above anything I've seen on any other ship. Breakaway also had a lot of nighttime entertainment (deck parties, dueling piano bar, comedy if you had gotten tickets before you boarded). My boyfriend kept calling the Gem the old man boat. Nothing to do after 10 besides a couple late night movies in the lobby, and the casino which we avoided for financial reasons. I think the late night comedy shows and piano bar and that kind of thing are what we will enjoy on Horizon. We won't be forced to go to bed at 10 pm out of lack of things to do.
And I know cheers is 15 drinks, but for me in a day, that's unlimited for sure! And I don't drink coffee, soda, or milkshakes. Even at home I drink unsweet tea and water almost exclusively so I'd get nothing from cheers really.
So what you are saying is, entertainment isn't necessarily better on Carnival than NCL, there is just more of it, especially after ten???

I don't think it's because the topic is cruising. It's just the way some folks are and the nameless, faceless nature of internet forums gives them courage. This is why CC was kind enough to allow us an "ignore list" feature.:)Why be judgmental? We go to vegas regularly, thank you very little. Why are people so combative about cruising? It's a freaking vacation -
On a three day cruise, unless you go in the middle of the week, and during the school year, you are likely to have more kids, regardless of cruise line. Carnival may have a bit more, but expect plenty of kids with any cruise line on a three day cruise, particularly if two of those days are Saturday and Sunday. I'm not trying to discourage you from booking with someone other than Carnival, just trying to be helpful.Thanks.I was going to go on Carnival but now will go with one you mention.
Doing first cruise and alone, want to go on a dive in Nassau.
Have to check on dive shops in Nassau.
Starting with a short 3 day
Thanks again
What's on your wish list for the new Carnival mega ship coming in 2020?
