Looking at a river cruise on AMAWaterways
Our preferred Danube cruise is on a 2012 brought into service ship as opposed to a 2017 ship for our second choice.
Concerned that the "older" ship make lack a few of the amenities of the newer ship and be a little more worn
My question is...Do they upgrade/update ships similar to drydocks on the major ocean going cruise lines

First time river cruiser
Does it make any difference as to the direction of travel on the river.
Same ship, basically same ports. a Danube cruise in Sept 2019
Appears only difference is direction

We will be in port on Friday January 26, 2018
Could you please reserve two chairs for us. We expect to get to the beach sometime around 10 AM since our plan is to walk from the port
Thanks in advance.

Experienced Ocean cruiser (20+) wanting to try river cruise for first time, Have narrowed choice to AMA Danube
I notice that the prices for late July are lower the mid Sept., 2019. We have ocean cruised in Sept and have no issues.
Can anyone comment on taking a Danube cruise in late July 2019 as opposed to Sept.
Thanks in advance for your repliy

I know you can book a future cruise while on board. I have three cruises scheduled for the future and need to cancel one of them. I would also like to transfer the deposit from that cruise to a payment for one of the other cruises
Can this be done on board so that I can show the rep the reservations I am referring to, or is it best to just "call" Celebrity and handle everything over the phone
Thanx

We are in St. Petersburg for two days. An option we are looking at is taking the grand city 2 day tour.
Day one runs from approximately 8:30 AM to 5 PM, and day 2 runs from 7:30 AM to 5 PM.
We are also considering taking the evening option on day one which would get us back to the ship at 10 PM, so that would mean going from 8:30 AM to 10 PM without returning to the ship
Has anyone done the day and evening tours and if so, was is too much to do...i.e. how you felt on day 2, would you recommend doing it?

Thank you all for your comments
We decided to fly one day earlier then originally planned and the connection time is now one hour and 55 minutes, so we booked that one.. Land at Heathrow at 1:35 PM and flight to Berlin leaves at 3:30 PM
Iancal, there is another flight after ours to Berlin, so that would be our back-up plan
Once again, thanks to all

Just wondering
Is Celebrity still asking for city of issue for your passport during on line check in
-
It is a T3 to T5 change
And we will have checked luggage

We are flying from the U.S. to Berlin on British Air. The flight calls for a plane change at Heathrow. which most likely involves a terminal change. This would happen on June 16
When I look at the time allowed for that change, I get two options. One option is for a one hour, forty minute change and the other option is for a four hour, twenty minute change.
I would probably say that the under two hours is unrealistic, but the over four hours is a bit long.
Any comments?

We intend to spend two full days in Berlin sightseeing prior to boarding for our Baltic cruise.
Could you please suggest an area of Berlin to stay in (and if possible some names of hotels) with a choice of evening meals within walking distance, so that we can maximize our sightseeing.
This would be for June 2018.

Tried to make a payment and of course it didn't go through...you would think a primary goal of the website would be to take a payment
Also, shows payment balance due TODAY even though sail date is in January

Getting the same "An error occurred" message every time I try to access my reservation for the past week.
Able to log in and log off but everything else does not work. Useless web site
-
We signed up for two cruises under the old website . Both cruises had drink packages and "free" gratuities as as promo.
When I went to order history on the old website, at least the drink packages showed up.
On the "new" website, I go to manage my reservation then cruise planner. All I see is amount owed ( no problem there, although I had to call in a payment since the new website would not accept anything)
When I now go to order history on BOTH cruises, NOTHING
Can't find any info under manage my reservation on purchased perks anywhere, although I have an email which shows them

We are flying from the U.S. to Berlin with a connection in Heathrow. Most likely on British Airways for both flights.
What would be the MINIMUM connection time suggested for the plane change at Heathrow. At this stage of planning, do not know if a terminal change is involved.

We used Rome cabs for two vip transfers last year. The drivers were always early, very professional and highly personable.
We are using them again this coming September for transfers from the airport to our hotel and from the hotel to the port.
Highly recommend them

We are planning to go to Bruges when our cruise stops in Zeebrugge for the day.
I noticed that this port day is a Sunday.
Will there be enough spots open to justify the short train trip and see the sights?
Hopefully, Sunday is not a concern

Thank you all for your replies.
Been looking at maps
Have several locations we are looking at. Must have a few of them mixed up.
One area was the Westminster Bridge and another area was where the St. James Court is located.
To add to my confusion, we are also looking in the Hyde Park area.
It appears there are ample choices for dinner in any of the above areas
Thanks again for your suggestions
-
Thank you Cotswold Eagle
The Westminster Bridge area is where we are looking at, I may have gotten the wrong side of the river in my question
-
We are thinking about staying at the St. James Court, which is located on the Southside of the river just over the Westminster Bridge. Was wondering if there will be enough choices for dinner in the area or will we have to cross over the bridge and go looking? Lunch is not a problem
-
Did not mean to start a war here. Just asked a simple question. No problem with having the non-elite use general tendering.
-
We are elite so we have priority tendering.
We have arranged a private excursion and the couple that is joining us is not elite.
Will they be able to use the priority feature if they depart with us, or will they have to use the general tendering procedure?

Our ship will be staying late, till 11 PM
We arrive in the AM hours and would like to do some sightseeing.
Our afternoon plan is to "walk" the walls and explore old town
Any suggestions for the AM hours and having lunch while "out" of the old city.
Also, would like suggestions for dinner, probably in the old city.
Thank you so much in advance for your reply

Where did you hear that the Pier 66 has been sold?
If you go to their website, they are taking reservations under the Hyatt name after January AND we have reservations for February that are confirmed
Do they update ships?
