  1. We have sailed on both the Royal and the Eclipse

    Royal

    Small balconies

shows only 1/2 hour although they are performed 3 times nightly

    Amazing buffet

    Movies Under the Stars

Removed one pool mid-ships and put in water display

no middle stairway but never affected us as we use the stairs

Can access your cabin when embark

has the Sanctuary if you are interest... adult only pay for area

    Only 10 days

    Eclipse

    Bigger balconies

Shows longer...almost an hour but only twice nightly

    very good buffet

better service in dining room...more attention paid...food comparable

cannot access cabin upon embarkation...usually can get access by 2 pm

    14 days

Just some point off the top of my head

We would travel either based on ports of call...We are scheduled on the Eclipse and are looking at Royal/Regal for the cruise after

  2. We just returned from a Princess Alaska cruise at pier 91. It was during Sea Fair week so we were very concerned with making our 10:50 AM flight. We made a back-up reservation with Seattle Express. For $12 pp, they will shuttle you to SEATAC. Vans leave every 15 minutes...reservations are required.

There was a Holland America ship also at pier 91

We self-disembarked and were off the ship by 7:30 AM ( It would be very similar getting off Celebrity..we have self-disembarked from Celebrity.)

There was NO wait for taxis and were at the airport by 8:30 AM

Could have taken the Seattle Express and made it on time (their vans hold 20)

Cost of cab was $60 with tip

  3. As Seattle residents you have both in the past provided excellent info for "us tourists"

I wonder if I could impose on your knowledge once more.

Will be in Seattle end of July pre-cruise

Besides doing PPM and Seattle Center, we want to do a "water" ride.

We have narrowed our choice to two

One is the Bremerton Ferry crossing, because of the views

The other is the West Seattle Water taxi

Each of us has a favorite

I wonder if you wouldn't mind adding your two cents to assist in our decision

thanks in advance for your replies

  4. Not sailing until 2016 but have done very cursory check on airline tickets..

Cruise is from Rome to Venice so need one way tickets from/to US. It appears it is more costly to book one way as opposed to round-trip tickets and then skip the return flight (notice I did not say cheaper)

Interested in hearing from those doing similar how they are approaching airfare.

Yes, I am aware of Cruise Air from Celebrity

  5. Can anyone make a suggestion as to a hotel for several nights precruise in Rome for three adults. Need more than a double bed and a sofa bed....ideally three beds

Would like to be in walking distance for most sights if possible

    Not worried about price

  6. Going on Eclipse next January. Have the classic drink package\

Anybody know cost of mai tai margarita and rum punch?

They are our main drinks and want to see if covered under classic package or do we need to upgrade to the premium package.

  7. This will be our first time on HAL..

    Main previous line was Princess

    Traveling with three (3) adults

Looking at Med cruise in 2016 for

Considering either a Verandah cabin or a Signature Suite

Main concern is if there will be enough room in the verandah cabin for the three of us

    your thoughts please

  8. the Celebrity ship is the Connie which we have been on previously

Havent found alot of info on Celebrity ports is why I am asking

Hal has overnight in Venice which is one less night in hotel and ship is Oosterdam

Leaning to Hal but want more info on Celebrity ports so can make best decision

  9. Really want to cruise from Rome to Venice with stops in Naples and Athens

We have found two cruises which do the above. One from Celebrity and one from Holland America.

The different ports are listed below. Although I have done some research, I need additional info to help make a decision, and cruise critic is THE place to get info.

Would like to know the big difference between the cruises and, if you don't mind, which one you would prefer.

Celebrity: Catania, Sicily, Italy Mykonos, Greece Kotor, Montenegro

    Zadar, Croatia Koper, Slovenia

Holland America: Corfu, Greece Kusadasi(Ephesus) Turkey

Katakolon (Olympia), Greece Dubrovnik, Croatia Split, Croatia

    Both cruises stop in Santarini.

thank you in advance for your reply.

  10. We really want to cruise from Rome to Venice with stops in Naples (for Pompeii) and Piraeus (for Athens)

We have found two cruises which do the above. One from Celebrity and one from Holland America.

The different ports are listed below and I'm asking what is the big difference between them

Have done some research but need more input to make decision and these boards are the authority. Would also like to hear your preference between the two

Celebrity : Catania, Sicily, Italy: Mykonos, Greece Kotor, Montenegro

    Zadar, Croatia Koper, Slovenia

Holland America : Corfu, Greece: Kusadasi (Ephesus) Turkey

Katakolon (Olympia), Greece Dubrovnik, Croatia Split, Croatia

    Both cruises stop in Santorini

thank you in advance for your replies

  11. Have sailed over a dozen times on Princess and several times on Celebrity.

Thinking of sailing on the Oosterdam in September 2016 for a European cruise.

Just wondering what similarities/differences we can expect in general.

Has the Oosterdam been updated since its inception and if not, is there a scheduled dry dock prior to the Sept. cruise?

  12. Disembarking Crown Princess after Alaska cruise on Saturday August 1,2015

    Have 11 AM flight

Will be using private pick-up service for transportation to SEATAC.

    Haven't decided which one yet

    Self disembarking

Crown is "scheduled" to arrive Seattle 7 AM

What time should I schedule pick-up service for? Possibly 7:30 or 8 AM?

Anybody have experience with this AND how is delayed disembark handled by private pick-up companies

  13. When is a better time frame to visit Venice... Cruise will either start or end there.

Have read that in late Sept/Oct water rises and you may be walking "on Water"

Is this true? if so, may opt for early/middle May before schools out in US

    Any help would be appreciated
