Looking at some of the prices on upcoming cruises eg.. 11 day cruise £450...looks like customers are leaving NCL in their droves...things like the VAT thing does leave a sour taste in some peoples mouths.

Come on tell us where and which 🚢 ship  ....thanks

Because then you'd have people complaining about having to pay VAT on drinks they hadn't planned on consuming at all. It's kind of a no-win situation, frankly. Maybe NCL should create an ombudsman-type of board made up of loyal cruisers. A lot people on here have creative ideas on how the cruise line could improve, so maybe it's worth considering? I don't know. I'm just glad our next cruise isn't stopping in Spain, that's for sure!

It will be the Greek Islands the next time for us .Going on the Gem next month ...starting in Spain and visiting Spanish ports .

I am from Germany and my opinion is the same as yours. We are booked on a Med cruise with Norwegian Dawn in November (doesn't include NON-EU-Ports) and Norwegian told me yesterday (after final payment) that we have to pay Spanish VAT on every single drink and for every meal covered by free at sea package for the whole cruise. I always thought if I book my cruise and my free at sea package in advance with their German website, the tax is included in the final price.

It's not the few dollars I now have to pay extra, it's the way NCL communicates this. No word about that, before booking this cruise. Why don't you take a few dollars more for the cruise and include the VAT as every other cruise line does? I am a very loyal costumer and cruised a lot with NCL in the past (and I will do in the future), but this really frustrates me and I don't think this is the right way to treat loyal costumers.

    Just my two cents...

I always thought if I book my cruise and my free at sea package in advance with their German website, the tax is included in the final price.

Yes,  ...booked through the UK website I thought I had paid all taxes in the pre paid price . BUT NO says NCL . How is this tax collected and paid to Spain ? ... on a full cruise it must be a lot of euros .

Where is this shown in any of NCLs accounts per cruise ? Is it ALL cruise, Princess, MSC, Fred Olsen, P &O ..cannot get any answers .

I don’t see any email addresses for an appropriate department. Here is the mailing address and phone numbers for reservations and corporate. Best I can do.

Thanks, Deb  .. phoning  America and explaining the problem would be a costly phone call ...and a letter would take some time . Perhaps I'll hand it over to ABTA ..Association of British Travel Agencies for help . NCL are members.

we go on Azura in October. At the moment our cruise personaliser says "coming soon" for booking Epicurian, Beach House & Sindhu in advance. I've read elsewhere that it will open up 2 weeks before we go.

I don't think the app is currently used on Azura for booking restaurants, just the pager if needed. And, no you can't swap around between Freedom and fixed. You could eat in the buffet of course. We're on Freedom for the first time, so we'll see how that goes!

Thanks for the information .the cruise is "at sea" on Christmas Day/ New Years Eve ...not sure how that will be for "freedom dining" passengers . We hope to get this booked today . ...see availabilty of cabins

  6. Thanks  Clodia..

There's no availability for midships on the dates we want ..deck 9 is available

OK the deck is overlooked  but  I don't think it will bother us too much .

DH says he likes the bigger cabin ! !

  7. Thanks, David and Bin man .

Another question ...we are booking our fights with P&O but by the time we get through passport control,  waiting for luggage then the transport to the ship we will probably be the last people boarding .

We would like to book some speciality restaurants but by the time we get on board I guess most of the slots will be taken . Can these be booked in advance or is that facility only available to P&0 passengers who have sailed many times with P&O.

  8. We are looking to book the Azura ... hope the very knowledgeable people on CC can help.

Deck  D Superior Deluxe we like the extra space in the cabin and are not bothered by the fact that the balcony is overlooked .

Questions ... with these  cabins with the lifeboats below ... is there any creaking noises from the lifeboats and the equipment ....we like our balcony door open.

Is water served with dinner or do you have to pay for it ?

I understand that you are allocated a table which you have for the length of the cruise ...can you change it mid cruise ? ...are tables for two available ?

By taking the "Select price" option you can choose your dining time 6.30 and 8.30 and "freedom dining"  ..if you choose 6.30 and the ship is in port longer .. can you then change to freedom for one night ? .

With freedom dining do you have a long wait for a table.?  and can you choose a time 6.30 on booking and then change it to freedom ?

Lots of questions from two newbies ..lastly is there anything you can advise that's made your cruise extra good !!!

    thanks
