  1. Complimentary: Tea, lemonade, juices inside the windjammer, hot chocolate, water (not bottled). If your husband buys a drink package, everyone on the stateroom must have the package. Unless they changed this policy. Even if they did, the answer is no, you will not be able to get "one of those." He would literally have to buy his drink, walk away from that bar, give you his and he orders another from another bar. It 1 drink at a time. Also various drink packages. Some are "beverages", wine & champagne, or unlimited.

so much incorrect info here. Please don't have him go to another bar and get you a drink with his package, if you will only drink one or two, you can easily afford to buy them.

  2. I stand by my original OPINION that picky eaters are made. I'll repeat that I was raised old school and had to clean my plate. I was told to think of all the starving children in ( insert country) Once I entered school I was appalled by what other children ate, didn't eat, or how they ate. I already named seeing crust cut off a sandwich. I also saw another child not eating because his sandwich was cut in half and not diagonal, or not in quarters. What??

Many kids would not eat their platter because the food was touching! These are just some of the examples of what I meant.

If your child has a condition and is under Doctors care for "picky type" illness systems, that is NOT what I am referring to.

Many of you bashing me mentioned your child was a picky eater. You should have used a medical term or another word than "picky eater" which set yourself up for comments.

Thank you. My kids tried to be "picky eaters" but I did not allow it. And now they are not allowing it for their kids.

  3. I don't have any ideas for you except maybe a bottle of wine and strawberries delivered to the room? The packages I am not impressed with at all because I don't need more junk to take home. I wish they had one that was just decorations, nice photo, and in cabin full breakfast or something.

My brother refers to his wife as "The wife" and it goes all over me. Thankfully The Husband doesn't refer to me that way :)

  4. Good to know! We still have a long way to go before our cruise that leaves from Sydney but a few people traveling with us will be arriving from the US the day before and a slow morning at the hotel with a late checkout might be nice.

are you talking about us? :) We too are flying in a day early and hoping to adjust to the time difference and wondering if we board at noon and don't sail until 6:30pm, will be be able to stay awake!?!?

  5. It's so hard to cruise with 5 . My 3 kids are all under six years old. No regular rooms accommodate 5 unless u get a suite which I can't afford. I can get 2 connecting rooms but that gets expensive too. Any other possibilities?

Maybe you shouldn't have had so many kids? Just kidding, I have 3 and we ran into that all the time with hotels even. We'd be happy to allow 2 in a bed and another in a roll away but they wouldn't allow it. Have a great trip no matter how you work it out.

  6. Ask the TA for Royal's Guest Copy of your booking confirmation. That should confirm if you have prepaid tips.

I have that and it says "Tips Included" but I can't really discern if that's the same as prepaid. I just want to plan appropriately.

    Thanks though.

  7. I know, you are all grabbing your popcorn. The deal we got with our TA said "Tips Included" and we are leaving from Australia so now I am wondering if that's the same as Prepaid tips? The whole Australia thing confuses me and it's an online TA and while I am really happy with them and have been for many cruises, I am not sure they understand my question and I'd like your thoughts. We are generally overtippers in our home life and on cruises we never remove the auto tips and we tip extra for every drink and meal and of course room service as well as daily for the room but we also like to try to pay for everything big in advance so we come back with no vacation debt like we did when we were younger. Feels good. So can anyone explain to me the deal with the tips for Australia cruises? We are US and our TA is US. Thanks.

  8. The Fort Lauderdale airport (FLL, not FTL) is visible from pier. It is typically a 10-15 minute cab ride. How long it takes to disembark can vary greatly. If you do the self walk off, you can be off the ship and through customs within a few minutes.

This correction reminded me of my Dad who worked for American Airlines before I started with them in 1982 and he wrote me (back then was a snail mail letter) and asked if he could have a pass to go to SAC and I had just finished training and learned all my city codes so quickly corrected him, "you mean SMF?" what I would give to be able to correct him now :( Love and miss you Dad!

  9. Enjoy your cruise, we are "older" too and I thought your post was interesting, as you get older the more important things don't always matter as much as the little things, like the bathroom light and the coffee!

I can't dispute anyone's answers as while we've been on 19 cruises, we've been on 6 different cruiselines and 19 different ships but never this class of ship but I will say we always bring the led candles and they do provide nice light and are really cheap and small to pack, two very important things to me. I also use my phone or tablet light to help me get to the bathroom, heck I even do that at home!

  10. I will be sailing on the Explorer of the Seas inn sept 8th to Alaska. My mom passed away on Sunday and I want to scatter her ashes somewhere in Alaska. Can anyone tell me if they have done this on mendehall glacier or in any other area of Alaska and what I need to do in order to do it.

I called RCCL 4 separate times yesterday. Each customer service person acted as if they had no clue what I was asking when I asked about arranging to have them scattered off the ship. I was placed on hold numerous times and gave up. I figure I will try to just do something in alaska. We are going to Mendenhall and I figured that would be nice. I sent an email to the forest service asking what to do. That's what I found as a contact for Mendenhall glacier park.

Any advice is welcome. Her dream was to go to Alaska so I want to make this happen

I am so sorry. And how wonderful that you are making sure she sees Alaska.

  11. You can't go to the DINING room for 2 seatings, but you can certainly go to the buffet, if it's still open, or order room service. You can totally eat yourself silly!

How would they know? Just curious. I would never do it just because it wouldn't be good for me!!! ;p
