Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. On board the Silver Moon. We had 2 Formal Nights and there were a number of gentleman that wore sports jackets with and without ties. I even saw a number of men wearing jackets with no ties, and some just long sleeve dress shirts. This was at the Atlantide and La Terrazza.
  2. On the Moon and dined at Kaiseki. Unfortunately, it clearly didn’t meet our expectations. We’re from Hawaii and are use to a certain level of taste and preparation. With sushi, everything comes down to the preparation of the rice. At Kaiseki, the rice was close to a ball of dough. The quality of the fish was average at best and the Beef Ramen was tasteless. In comparison to Umi Uma on the old Crystal, Umi Uma was far, far superior!! Sorry, JMO.
  3. This will be my first sailing from Reykjavik to London in late July on the Silver Moon. Is the seas usually calmer during summertime for this crossing? I still plan on bringing patches and Dramamine just in case. Thanks for sharing your experience.
  4. That’s good to know! My cruise is 20 days out and I still didn’t get a cabin assignment. Hopefully I’ll get assigned before we board.🤞
  5. I booked a Guarantee Veranda Category as well. But I was told by my TA that Cabin Assignment is done by the ship and you will find out your assignment when you board.
  6. Update. Spoke to Silversea. They will be offering transfer services through the ship. Decided to go that route instead. See you onboard! Aloha!
  7. Trip Advisor stated “8 passengers plus one suitcase per person”. Also keep in mind that if you’re interested, I will confirm for just 6 passengers. I plan on modifying our reservation to a total party of 6. Then, our per person cost is est. $72 per person(tipping is required and you can tip the driver on your own). Let me know if you’re interested. If so, we’ll prepay this with Trip Advisor and will meet with you onboard to collect your portion.👍

  9. Aloha… My small group of 4 passengers will be reserving Private Transportation from our Southampton Cruise Terminal to the Waldorf Hilton London. We’re looking for an additional 4 passengers to join us. The cost per person is est. $60 per person. Let me know if anyone is interested. Rick
  10. Spoke to Seabourn. Ship is docking at Phu. They have not finalized transportation options for those passengers that are getting off and completing their cruise in Ho Chi Min City. They said to check back with them next week and was confident something would be finalized.
  11. SSummer, are you on the January 8th sailing from Singapore to Ho Chi Min? Port Phu is 1.5 hours from the airport and little longer to Ho Chi Min City Center. I did some research and it looks like there is no real public transportation from Port Phu to the city. I’m trying to research with Seabourn if they’re offering transportation. If I find out something, I’ll let you know.
  12. The Carlton Hotel is very nice and right in town! We stayed there a few years back on a post cruise.đź‘Ť
  13. I also am not optimistic about this cruise sailing. At this stage, I would be open to SS altering the itinerary to include other ports of call to replace Japan. But do it now!!!! I believe this option is spelled out in the fine print of the SS agreement, “We reserve the right to alter the cruise itinerary for any reason,” (something like this). SS should not cancel at the final hour and burning bridges with many SS loyalists. That would be a big mistake!
  14. We are also on the Sept. 8 cruise. Can you please expound on the new required VISA? Where did you apply for this? You would think that SS would inform us to do so if they are maintaining this cruise as planned. Thanks!
