  1. We have been on 16 cruises with different cruise lines, most with NCL. All the shows usually run about an hour. The cruise director usually has something to pass on after the shoe, and bring back show participates for a bow. You can always leave a few minutes early. If you have reservations at a specialty restaurant, they will hold them for 15 minutes. It does take a few minutes to go from the show to the restaurant, though.

  2. We bought 2 Cruise Next Certificates on our cruise out of New Orleans on the Dawn back in March. We already had a 11 night cruise booked for this fall through NCL on the Gem, and asked about being able to use one at final payment. We were told we could actually use 2 Cruise Next Certificates on it. NCL allows using 2 Cruise Next Certificates on certain cruises. Made our final payment this past Saturday, and was able to use both of them. That was a nice deal, since we had used nonrefundable OBC to purchase the 2 Cruise Next Certificates.

  3. Grampy1967, have you looked at flights on South West Airlines? They have a few direct flights from Houston Hobby to San Juan. We used them last November for our Celebrity Summit cruise out of San Juan. Flew in on a Saturday the day of the cruise, and flew back the next Saturday after the cruise. You might have to go a day earlier or come back a day later for the direct flights. SWA doesn't have first class, though.

  4. Celebrity is our favorite out of the three. We compared Celebrity and NCL, when booking a 7 night cruise out of San Juan, this past November. We got a better price, more perks (without adding the gratuities like NCL does), a bigger suite, and more OBC with Celebrity. That was 1 year out. It was only our 3rd cruise with Celebrity, and we are platinum with NCL. Not much difference between Royal Caribbean and NCL.

  5. You could probably book a combo whale watching and Mendenhall Glacier tour right at the dock. We did several years ago, and it was a lot cheaper than the ship's same tour. There were six of us and we just checked around the tents until we found our best price, for a whale and glacier tour. The shuttle took us to the boat first, and then came back to pick us up, and then took us to the glacier. They had it all planned out and it worked fine. There was just the 6 of us on the boat, plus the pilot and first mate. They served coffee and hot chocolate to keep us warm. You could get out of the weather if you got too cold. It did rain a little, but it was very enjoyable trip. One whale came within 100 feet of us. Be warned, there are big mosquitoes at the glacier, and they are attracted to dark clothing. After we got tired of walking around at the glacier, the shuttle took us back to the ship.

  6. We always put our RX'S in the weekly am/pm pill container, and carry them on in our back pack / carryon bag (along with passports, travel insurance policy, hotel reservations, etc.). Never had a problem at all at any of the US Airports / Cruise Ports, or at San Juan, PR this past November. We just got back from a 13 night group tour to Germany. We were told by the travel agency to only bring the RX's in the original prescription bottles. But we had to take certain RX'S at bedtime and before breakfast (overnight flight). So, we filled our weekly pill dispenser and brought the pill bottles along, too. Left from San Antonio to Newark, NJ to Berlin and came back from Munich to Chicago to San Antonio. Others in our group just brought their dispensers, and didn't bother to bring the pill bottles. No problem at all. You could always take a photo of the prescription with your cell phone, to show them if asked. That's what we do in US flights.

  7. You might want to look on the internet at Roberts Hawaii for your tours. They have most of the same tours as the NCL POA, and they are a lot cheaper. The more tours you sign up for with them on the Islands, the prices come down even more. We used them when we cruised there a little over a year ago. We were well satisfied with Roberts Hawaii, especially the prices. One of their bus drivers told us they used handle all the NCL Tours, but things changed between them and NCL.

  8. Our cruise on the NCL Dawn out of New Orleans stopped at Harvest Caye on 3/2/17. Ate a late breakfast, stopped by the bar to fill our large Yeti Mugs (free UBP), and rode the trolley to the Island. No problem at all walking off the ship with them. Swam in the large fresh water pool, and then went to the beach. A lot of seaweed there. Not many places to shop. After 3 hours, decided to ride the trolley back to an almost empty ship. After lunch we chose to stay onboard, instead of going back.

  9. We were just on the Dawn out of New Orleans 2/26 to 3/5. Already had a 10 night RT cruise booked on the Gem out of New York this fall to Quebec City. Checked what we would get with the Cruise Next Lady, if we rebooked while on board. NCL would only give us one category up grade in the balcony cabin we already had. But by canceling our original booking, we would loose a lot of extras from our original booking. It wasn't worth it! We did buy 2 Future Cruise Credits of $500 for only $250. But only $250 was charged to our onboard account. The Cruise Next Lady said they could do it that way. And we will be able to use both the Future Cruise Credits on our cruise this fall.

  10. We were on the Celebrity Summit back in November, for a Southern Caribbean Cruise. Checked prices on their suite and a NCL suite for a 7 night out of San Juan. The Summit was over $1,000 cheaper than NCL - and their suite was a lot nicer. (Our last 2 cruises were in suites on NCL, and this was our first suite with Celebrity.) We had the 4 free package with the suite. Unlimited internet for 2, free beverage, free specialty restaurants, free gratuities, and also got a $300 OBC. Anyway, water is free with Celebrity beverage package and they do not add a 18% service charge on to it. No added service charge for the specialty restaurants. It was nice to grab a cold bottle of water, when exiting at the ports.

  11. PUNKINCC, we booked the cruise within a month of returning home from the Hawaiian Cruise. At that time we were still waiting for NCL to refund the on board credit, and reimbursement for the 1 day delay. We all know that took a while! Our VTG travel agent knew the situation, and called NCL. She asked about us waiting to use the cruise credit, and $250 FCC on final payment. NCL agreed to let us do that. We didn't want to have all our credit tied up on this cruise, in case we changed our mind. Thought it might be a problem, if we had to move the credits to another cruise. NCL did a lot of subtracting from the final payment, but it worked out right. Ended up keeping this cruise to celebrate our anniversary, since NOLA is only a 10 hour drive from our home. No round trip airfare required. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE !!!

  12. We used our refund from NCL, for a 7 night Western Caribbean Cruise out of New Orleans. Leaves 2/26 and returns 3/5. Wanted to be sure it was completed within the 1 year time frame. The VTG travel agent had no problem finding the NCL credit for our final payment. It only cost $108 for the both of us in a BA mid ship balcony, but we paid extra for the VAT drink package and 3 specialty meals. We had a $ 1114.50 credit each from NCL, and bought a $250 future cruise credit while onboard, with credit from our account. The $100 OBC from the FCC, was then credited back to our account. It worked out well for us.

  13. You can call the Captain's Club and preregister your husband with your booking number and information. The phone number is 800-760-0654 and they are open 8am to 8pm EST. My wife and I have sailed with Celebrity on 2 previous cruises, but this will be our daughter's first. I called and preregistered her, and they gave me a new number for her right away. You can always go to the Captain's Club and get him registered after you board.
