  1. My daughter found a card with $1 in the store the other day. It was a random act of kindness in this little boy's memory. She started researching about it and now wants to get these cards in as many places as possible. Since I am going on a cruise we decided that Florida, the ship, and each port would be a great idea.

I will put some money and the card on the vending machine at the hotel in Florida but would love to hear some ideas about things that I could do on the ship (Freedom of the Seas) and while in the ports. We are going to Coco Cay, St Marteen, and St Thomas.

    Thanks for your ideas!

  2. We called Royal during this promo and we're told they didn't have a room for 5 available. Then gave me this crazy ridiculous price for 2 rooms that with my limited knowledge seemed wrong. I should have just called back that day. I later found out they did have some available (7 staterooms actually) but by then it was no longer kids sale free and for us to move we would have to pay for the 2 free kids!! The total came to about $2000 more. Thanks but no thanks...

  3. Bummer!!! I'm kicking myself for not booking that minute. The cruise I was looking at would have been 1400 for four of us, now it is 2900.

I booked an inside but was seriously thinking of upgrading to a balcony. Almost did it one day but didn't follow through. The next day other was gone. I am still upset about it.

  4. We booked during kid sail free promo, a 7 night (Oct) on FOS out of PC for $1976 (inside cabin). 2 adults 2 kids. Just repriced same cruise, inside cabin and its over $2800. We were happy with the price so we booked it, but certainly wouldn't pay $2800.

We did the exact same thing for Oct 2nd and my price is identical to yours. I am a little worried about the space. Have you ever stayed in an inside room with 4 people?

  5. Okay now that I am me and not DH:o

I started WW in the last couple months and I am down 6#. I want to lose 20# before our next cruise. I can see where the points system really pushes you towards fresh fruits and veggies and less carbs! I have been walking and can get 3 miles in most days.

  6. I had something like that happen to us. I personally like to prebuy as much as I can just so I know it is done and the "Easter Bunny" decided to get all three of my kids a pet at sea. When we got to our room we had the card in there showing that we ordered 3 pets at sea. When we went to make them I took the voucher that had been delivered to my room but they acted like I was making it up. Luckily I had my documents in my room so I sent my oldest to get it.

While that was happening the lady calls for her supervisor and she really didn't act any better about it. We also didn't get the boxes to put the animals in that the other kids got if they didn't prepay.

I know now that I would have gotten a discount with my crown and anchor so my lose there but it seems they would have been a little nicer instead of acting like we were lying about purchasing almost $100 of stuffed animals.

With that and the fact that they changed the balance due on my last cruise 3 times I now print everything out and take it with me.

  7. I will add this to the conversation. I thought it was very odd for the ocean adventure registration to be at 5:30pm when early dining started at 6:00pm. When I asked they said it would only take a few minutes but didn't mention that we would have to stand in a long line so my younger two kids and I were about 15 mins late for dinner. I was very stressed about this but saw a bunch of other parents and kids in the same situation we were in.

I wish they would take that into consideration and move registration up at least an hour before first seating starts.

  8.

I send out a message to every cruiser on board a ship I am on....telling them the PRINCESS is on board -- ME, and I get everything I want, all the time. (LOL -- please see this last line as 'sarcasm'; I don't want jabs thrown at me)

My daughter would be very upset to know this because she feels she is top of the line. :p. She refers to herself as queen instead of princess though. Hahaha

  9. I've sailed 4 times now on Explorer of the Seas and have always brought on some bottled water (that I use for in port) and a 12 pack of soda. I just put it in my duffle bag with our shoes without a problem. Some people even put a luggage tag on the case and just hand it over like that.

I think I am going to try it then. I will put them in my husband's bag just in case. ;)

  10. The rules limit you to two 750ml bottles of wine per stateroom. They also usually don't enforce the rules in the case of water and soda.

How do I people get the soda onboard? When I asked about taking 5 Cherry Amps onboard (one for each morning) I was I told I would need a doctor's note. I have purchased a soda package or higher for all 5 of us but Royal doesn't sell Amps or anything remotely close.

  11. I am trying to think of different things that seem to be outside of the box.

When we were at Coco Cay someone was walking by us and gave us 2 vouchers for floating mats they had won on the cruise and would not be using. It ended up being one of the greatest days out of our entire cruise. I think the floats are like $15. Maybe let him rent one and then hand it out to someone.

Maybe take a package of candy canes and pass them out one day to passengers, crew members, etc

Have him color a picture as a thank you for your room attendant.

Depending on the crowds give up your place in line at the windjammer or anywhere else that has a wait. (elevators would be a nice choice certain times of the day)

Hope some of these ideas help. Sounds like fun!:)

  12. Really? I'm sorry, that's not the feeling I wanted to project. I had an amazing time. Do you know how nice it is to sit down and read a book without being smothered by three dogs who all need your attention RIGHTNOWOMGMOMMYISTHATFOODOHNOITSBOOKPETMEPETMEPETMEPETMELETMEGNAWONTHISOHYEAHTHISBOOKNOTFOOD... :-)

    I had an AMAZING time.

My DH and I went on our first cruise for our 10th anniversary and everyone could not believe that I read 5 novels during the week. It was heavenly to me. We have 4 kids that would have been aged 14-3 at that time. Took the kids with us last time (Enchantment) and didn't have a chance to do any reading at all.
