  1. The state department warnings are for their employees ot the general public. I live in Mexico part-time and there are areas I no longer would travel to, but the majority of the country is just as safe as the US.

  2. Legal to HAL, Carnival, RCL, and Princess per their guidelines. My dive tool is attached to my BCD and it always goes as checked luggage. It is of legal length per the rules on those four cruise lines. You couldn't pay me enough to sail on Disney.

  3. I don't use antiseptic wipes on anything. I don't use hand sanitizer. I do wash my hands thoroughly and regularly and use my knuckle to hit the buttons in the elevator and my elbow on the railings. I never have become ill on a cruise ship and I've been on almost 20 cruises in more than 30 years. Maybe it's because I'm a diver and I dive all the time with fish poop around me building up an immunity. ;)

  4. I've never had the cruise excursion cancelled, but also they also are more expensive, not cheaper than booking privately. The other difference is you typically will get longer dives on a private excursion and less chance of being on a cattle boat. The only cruise excursion I book now is Puerto Vallarta because it's a great party boat after the dives. Last year, I was the only diver out of about 35 people. The rest were snorkelers, kayakers, etc.

  5. We couldn't get off a cruise in San Diego one year until 10 am. Two non- US. citizens refused to show up to customs. No one was allowed off the ship until everyone was cleared. My friend barely made his 11 am flight. I was staying over so had no worries, but there were a lot of frantic people that day.
