My experience booking Celebrity S1 suites is that the initial demand is very high and the prices go up as the bookings increase. Most people do not pay what is currently showing on line. Celebrity has eliminated their regular 14 day winter itinerary. But most S1 suites are a single price with the Best Bundle.

You might have better luck using the certificate for a cruise in the winter of 2021 when they are released soon. (Perhaps one of the 12 day cruises unless Celebrity reintroduces the 14 day itinerary)

For instance we have the January 20, 2018 Silhouette 12 day cruised booked in an S1 corner suite. The total cost is $7051 for two people with the four Best Perks. We have an additional $700 OBC from our TA. This was booked when it was first released. The cost of any suites on this cruised went up almost immediately and they have been sold out for a long time. We will see what happens after the final payment is

    Good luck

2021 is just too far out for me to even think about. The 10-day Regent cruise I mentioned would cost $33 a day per person more than your 12 Day in an s-1 on Celebrity. I love the corner S1 but I would have to go with Regent at those prices.

I am hopeful we will find the right cruise for this winter while we are on the Silhouette in December. That's when my wife hopes to apply the certificate she won. We'll see. Thanks for your good wishes

  2. I plan to change my underwear for sure and maybe my socks.

On the other hand I benefit from a wife whose job has required her to travel constantly for the last 45 years. She packs so beautifully that there is scarcely A wrinkle in our clothes when we arrive at our destination. And she keeps certain things always packed although it is lost on me. When we had a vacation home in Florida she had her Florida bag at the ready. And she always had a cruise bag ready to go with shoes, toiletries, certain wrinkle proof clothing articles. We can be out the door in an hour or so if there were a need. Needless to say, I am in awe because I am now so dependent on her. A good wife is God's greatest gift

  3. Sometimes, it can take up to a few weeks before hearing back from a big box TA. If you have the paperwork given onboard, go ahead and call your TA to make sure they have the booking. Do not wait to hear from them.

Exactly. On two occasions the big box store was not showing our bookings weeks after they were made. So I inquired and was told the listings were in their system but had not yet been entered in my account which was done immediately when I called. They must be deluged with thousands of transfers, especially now that they give cash cards rather than OBC.

  4. As I mentioned above, my wife has a certificate she hopes to use on a cruise this winter if the price is right. In my research I have discovered a ten day Regent cruise which would cost us $3,300 less than a fourteen day Celebrity cruise in an S1 cabin. Unfortunately, it's itinerary is very similar to an Oceania cruise we are already booked on. But this is why I am ready to jump ship with X.

  5.

If it's transferable, I'll pay you a healthy percentage of the value for it!

Thanks for your interest, but my wife prefers to wait and see what is available in the January-February timeframe. When I checked this morning, the prime cabins were so obscenely overpriced that I cannot believe anyone would be tempted to book. That being the case, downward adjustments might be the order of the day and DW will be proven right once again.

Should change her mind, I'll get back to you and we can reassess your needs.

  6. I love it, all the baby haters.

I have at least scanned every post and saw no sign of hate until I came across yours. People who love children and want the best for all of them are rightfully voicing their concern for an infant's welfare. I'd call that love

  7. It sounds like Azamara would be the perfect line for you: R-ships like Pacific Princess [with $50 million in renovation to make them much nicer], fantastic food and service, and in-depth itineraries that even Oceania doesn't match.[/quote

Thanks for the tip. We've never been on Azamara but are trying Oceania next year. Our first choice is Regent but we have five X cruises booked over the next fifteen months. In a classic case of looking a gift horse in the mouth, we have a thousand dollar certificate to be used on a non-Edge Celebrity cruise but we really don't want another X cruise at a time when we are more interested in other lines.

  8. We were also on this cruise and at the Q & A with the officers and agree something didn't seem right. Capt. Kate started to say "breaker" when the CE started his romantic talk. After he said that it was stated that no more questions would be answered about it and if someone did they would be red carded (as in soccer) and they all pulled a red card from their pocket.

I would really like to know the TRUE reason it all happened , if it was something easily fixed why not say so. I worry more not knowing what it was, but the rest of the cruise was fine.

Since when does the chief engineer call the shots?

  9. Ok, I have one downer on a B2b. We have a sky suite booked on the first leg, and a C2 cabin on the second leg. We would have switched but the suite was too expensive for our second leg.

    Rollie

Yes, we've moved from a Suite to an Aqua on several occasions and it's a bit painful. I would always prefer to have the lower class cabin first and move to the better cabin on the second leg. Something to look forward to.

In December we will do aB2B in aqua. I had been tracking cabin availability trying to get the two cabins close to each other so we would have the same steward. I finally succeeded so now there is only one cabin between us. I think it took three different moves

  10. It's my understanding that TSA precheck is only for domestic air travel.

Sent from my SM-G930V using Forums mobile app

I usually start my international trips from a local airport so I can use the pre check there, but I do believe it covers international flights, too.

If no one has already mentioned it, be aware that having TSA Pre Check is not a guarantee that it will be in effect for every flight you take. I discovered this in Peoria of all places when my wife waltzed through and I was stopped because my ticket did not show the pre check even though I had been using it for years. The TSA agent said it is randomly not active on every ticket , so be aware you might have to use the regular line.

  11. I tried to change our IV today to a lower level (6th level obstructed, a better location for us) through my TA and Celebrity wanted to jack the price up $400 pp, plus we would lose our $300 in shipboard credit. Yes we are paid in full, but I can't fathom why they wouldn't jump at the chance to getting back a better cabin. We said no thanks. We're Elite Plus but that did not matter at all.

That doesn't make sense, does it? I have never had a problem changing cabins within the same category, and the changes I made were always for a better situation.

  12. How could I trust the opinion of people I have never met, whose tastes may or may not match mine? That goes for any subject, not just new cruise ships. So we'll take the seven day Edge cruise in April and based on that decide what to do regarding the November TA. Frankly, I hope we like her, as the cost of the TA was much to our advantage. I am a traditionalist and Edge just might be a bit too modern, too sleek, maybe even cold or sterile for my taste. Again, I hope not

  13. We have taken one MSC cruise in the YC on the Divina, so I'll claim to be an expert. I will simply say I would chose it over the two Celebrity suite classes we've had over the years. An excellent experience BUT the MSC Divina as a whole did not appeal to us at all; to our dismay the food in the YC restaurant was mostly average at best, very disappointing for an Italian line. Polenta and gorgonzola were not available, staples in my diet. While the YC was great, we haven't returned so I guess that speaks volumes.

I note a lot of negatives in re Princess. It's been several years since we took our last cruise on them, our twenty third on that line. DW likes X's big ships better but the best cruise we'll ever take was a Tahiti to FLL on the Pacific Princess. Classic ship, great food, fantastic itinerary ( no one seems to note the importance of itineraries in these discussions) and dare I say it ? a very classy group of passengers, possibly because of the length and cost of the cruise. We just completed our twenty sixth X cruise with five more in the offing, so I guess we have unconsciously made a decision, but I would never knock Princess for any serious fault.

  14. We have sailed TAs on both, on Oceania three times on Marina and Riviera, in both directions. Most recently, we took Regent's Explorer, MIA/BCN. We enjoyed every voyage, although we prefer East to West.

    Mary

Our first cruise on Oceania will be next march but we did an MIA to BCN on the Regent Explorer this year and it was magnificent in every way possible.

  15. On Edge the IV stateroom is 202 ft2 and balcony adds 42ft2.

On S-Class the standard stateroom is 194ft2 and balcony is 54ft2. Same for M-Class ships too. So Edge IV cabins have a tiny bit more space but it might appear even larger with the IV open. The grass is always greener on lines that you have not yet tried but go for it! Or try a suite on Celebrity for more space as an alternative option.

I think the grass is absolutely greenest on a brand new ship that no one has tried yet. We are all hoping for the best, but we are paying handsomely for the privilege of experiencing an unknown product. For example , on our first Edge Cruise an S1 cabin is now costing more than a suite on Regents newest ship for the same length cruise. For us a suite on Celebrities other ships has been very doable and enjoyable , but I doubt we will be trying one on Edge, not at current prices at least. In any case I think the king size bed is a contributor to my concern over being cramped. Even at my height, I don't require that big a bed. Next March we will be on the Oceania Riviera and in April we'll take our first cruise on Edge. We'll learn soon enough which we prefer

  16. We are just off an Equinox cruise, having eaten twice in Tuscan and five times in Murano. Both were excellent but that doesn't mean it would be the same on a different ship. We have magnificent filets in Tuscan but several of the pasta dishes lacked taste. To be safe, for one night I'd stick with Murano, but do try Tuscan if a deal is available during your cruise.

A little hint on seating in Tuscan: people want a table for two at the window which is fine, but the straight on view of the ocean is best from a table for four set up for two, Also, you won't have people looking at you to see the sea which you will have at the window seats. And once the sun sets, it makes little difference where you sit.

  17. I have not been following the Edge development closely, other than making two bookings to take advantage of pricing as best I could. I just now looked at some of the pictures of the IV cabins and I am left with one immediate opinion...cramped. I'm 6'5" tall, so I'm used to having to bend and fold myself into plane and car seats, but I don't want to encounter that problem on a new cruise ship, especially when so many other options are available. I immediately thought of my SIL's opinion of her trip on the new Princess ship..."magnificent public areas but cramped staterooms." She is at this moment on her first Oceania cruise, having voted with her feet with Princess.

Coincidentally, yesterday Oceania sent us a flyer on the redo of their older ships, and I must say from the pictures I find the design extremely attractive. We've already fallen in love with Regent, and Oceania might be next up after our first cruise with them next March. I sure hope X knows what it's doing, but DW and I are ready to cut bait and move on at the drop of a Celebrity cruise.

  18. What is the cover title of that brochure?

We ordered a new one but it has not arrived yet

I thought it was brand new, but apparently, it's been out a while. I got mine from a AAA office yesterday. Entitled 2019-2020 Leave No Sight Unseen, it has a rear view of a woman paddling towards a landfall of an ice flow, mountains, and vegetation covered pyramids

  19. Actually if you mean the brochure - yes we have discussed those cabins and I put a link to that a few months ago. That list is incomplete though. Need to supplement with the deck 6 was obstructions sheet.

    Then I guess this is old news but to repeat: 6128, 6129, 6180, 6182, 6196 and 6198.

I would have thought there would be more
