My stepson proposed to his now wife on our family cruise. During the 2nd formal night, we got together with the head waiter and after we ate dinner, when they brought out her dessert, they had written on an empty plate "Will you marry me" and he then got down on one knee and got out the ring.
It was great.

I think most of us are just questioning why it is only on the Grandeur that the times are being changed. Yes, I am going to switch to MTD because 5:00 pm is too early for dinner when you don't leave most of the ports until 5:00 pm or 6:00 pm. We LOVE to eat in the main dining room and t make dinner at 5:00 pm, my wife would need time to get a shower and do her hair, so it takes time from us being on the islands. Don't understand why they are changing the times for dining on just one ship. I haven't seen any other thread where they are changing the dining times on other ships and I am sure if they were, there would be some.

My wife and I were discussing this today about our cruise on the Grandeur next year. We are taking a couple of cruise newbies with us and they are really excited to tour the islands. We currently have early seating which is at 5:00 pm. I don't understand why it is so early. We have cruised on Royal 8 times and early seating has always been 6:00 pm. Most of our port days we don't leave until 5:00 pm or later and it is taking time away from us being on the islands. We are thinking of going the MTD route also.
Does anyone have a clue as to why early seating is so early on the Grandeur?

My December 2016 Grandeur of the Seas cruise I have early dinner and it shows at 5:00 pm. I called my TA to verify and he said that it was correct. For some reason, Grandeur is doing early dinner at 5:00 pm.

We have always booked balconies. Originally because I smoked and at the time, you could smoke on your balcony. After I quit smoking, we still book balconies because we love sitting on our balcony. I have had family members cruise with us and they have had inside rooms. They are just too small for me. I sort of laugh when people tell me they book inside cabins because they are never in the room anyhow. Maybe they would spend more time in their cabin if they had a balcony room. I certainly don't spend all my time in my room, but I am not a sit along the pool person, so I enjoy just sitting on my own balcony listening to music or reading a book.

Booked my drink packages last evening, no problems.

Thanks for the quick replies. This is my first time in a JS and we actually have some family members going with us on their very first cruise and they also will be in a JS. Trying to make up a sheet for them on what to expect.

I will be in a JS on the Grandeur next December. Is the gratuities for the JS the same as a regular cabin ($12.95) or do you pay the Suite gratuities (15.95)?
Thanks for any information you can give me!

I tried to search for this information but really couldn't find what I was looking for. I have seen on a couple of threads where people sign up for the Crown and Anchor Society before going on their first cruise. My aunt and her friend are joining us on a cruise next year and they have never cruised before. Can they actually sign up for the Crown and Anchor Society prior to their first cruise? Do they get any benefits if they can? Thanks for any information you can give to me.

The walk is no problem as we almost always book aft cabins. I was just concerned as we are trying to get some family members to go and all the aft cabins are still available and they are cruise newbies. I know it is still over a year out to our cruise, but seemed odd that they were all still available except the corner aft we already booked. Thanks for the info everyone.

We have this cabin booked for our cruise next year. Was wondering what people thought of the cabin and is there any noise from the South Pacific Lounge? We are having some family join us and it will be there first cruise and they are also thinking of booking an aft JS and they are all still available. Just wondering why they have not been booked yet. Usually the aft JS's go quickly.

Wow. That's a new one. I have an Iohone 6 plus along with an iPad Air . My wife has an IPad 3. We have Periscope installed on all the apple products plus two Android products. I just checked the App Store on both of our Ipads and it is the first app to list. Wish I had the answer. Maybe someone else can help.
I just searched for it again on my Ipad air and changed the search to iphone only and I found it. Don't know why it would not show on my original search.

I was able to find Periscope by Twitter for my android phone, but when I search on my Ipad, I can't find the real one. There was another app called Periscope but it was not the one through Twitter. Don't know why I can't find it for the Ipad.

So you don't take any meals on the ship at all? You do know that those that work other venues for all three meals share in those tips, don't you? Pretty sad that you routinely stiff them.
Amen, I agree with you 100 %.

I had a deck 12 boardwalk balcony and had no issues with the noise. We had the last balcony towards the aqua theater and never had a problem with too much noise from their shows. We loved it.

My wife take non drowsy Dramamine and it works great for her. Remember to start taking it the day before you leave. A lot of the motion sickness meds need 24 hrs to start working.

There have been quite a lot of posts on the board this week about these quincinera girls. Oasis, freedom, and now enchantment. Is this a new thing or does this always happen in July? I'm surprised Royal allows these large groups of underage kids to come on the ships without making sure there are rules being enforced :( If it's a new thing, maybe they'll put a stop to it (unless they're making a lot of money they wouldn't otherwise make).
Our cruise on the Adventure of the Seas last November, there was a lot of girls celebrating their quincinera.

I had this room on the Allure and there was no noise problems

We have eaten there twice - the food was fantastic! But no hibachi - I think that is only available on the larger ships.
Thanks, that is what I wanted to know.

Can anyone give me information on Izumi on the Grandeur? I know that they serve sushi, but do they have a habachi grill also? If you have eaten there, is the food good? Looking at possibly booking it for my next cruise.
Thanks in advance for any information you can give me.

I've been on 8 cruises and always get the soda package. About half of those had the machines and they are great. I have never had a problem going to any of the bars with my cup and getting ignored.

On the Adventure of the Seas in November of 2014, my wife did it. We had purchased the soda package before the cruise. When we got onboard, we upgraded her to the ultimate drink package. They only charged us the difference between the two.

Just booked one yesterday. 536 LONG days until I am cruising again.

My wife and I also prefer the larger balcony and room in the JS over a regular balcony. Like the previous poster, the double points are great also as they have helped us get to Diamond level faster. My wife and I enjoy sitting on our balcony and just relaxing away from the crowds at times. I am an early riser so I got about my morning and then stop in the Windjammer and get breakfast for my wife. I take it back to the room and she eats her breakfast out on the balcony. We actually prefer getting an aft balcony if we can.
