A question for you on flight. I see you are from Toronto, we are from the Lake Huron area and have decided to fly out of Detroit. Did you use the air promo from NCL and if so how were your flight times. I had looked at booking our own flights but couldn`t find anything reasonable.

Let me know about your experience - Thanks

We are also on Lake Huron and have booked a 9 day Panama Canal and ABC Islands sailing in January.  Would love to hear about your flights when they are assigned if you remember, we also went with the BOGO NCL air from Detroit flying in one day early but may change that to two.

There are a few threads from back when the changes were made.  I think the main change recently was a change in the free internet - now the room gets 150 minutes per guest (at least for guest 1 and 2 on a cruise of this length) rather than 250 minutes for the room.  This is an increase for rooms with two occupants, but those sailing alone get 100 minutes fewer (even in a balcony).  I'm not sure if you booked before the change in the dining was implemented or if a 9-night even saw a decrease in how many nights you get.  I was just on a 7-night on the Joy, booked 2 weeks before sailing, and only got 2 specialty nights (which I was aware would happen).

What is currently offered is detailed in the T&C's - https://www.ncl.com/termsandconditions/promotions

I did book before the revamp.  I finally found a post with the old promotion.  So we get 4 specialty dinners whereas under the new program we would get 2.  The other difference is we get 50 minutes less free internet on the old program.  Everything else is the same.

I'm surprised that people had to pay an extra fee to come in a day early.  I booked my cruise a couple weeks ago by calling NCL.  The agent asked me if I wanted to fly in the day of or up to two days early.  Initially, I said day of but before I hung up, I changed my mind and opted for the day before.  He said that I would be eligible for a $25 credit per person on my bill for flying in early and it removed the $50 per person for transfers.  I have not ever used a cruise line for my flights so I'm in the dark about how this works.  Sounds like they just book the flights and let us know when they are?  Is there anything that I need to be doing?

We also got a credit for booking a deviation.  When my TA initially inquired about it the agent said there was a fee.  She requested to speak to a supervisor who confirmed that there would be a credit.  I had also called the call centre and was told there is a charge to deviate.  It seems the customer service agents don’t know about it.

  4. We have an AI booked for Punta Cana and Cuba in January.  Back in early summer Air Canada was offering  $50 refundable down payments so we figured why not.  We will choose whichever one is safer at the time.  We have a cruise booked for 2023 - hopefully testing is over with at least for vaccinated people by then!  We are kind of iffy on Punta Cana for the exact reason someone else stated - the Americans not following protocol and probably Canadians as well.  AIs are also a lot cheaper this year as we would have to fly out of Canada for our cruise whereas we usually fly out of the US.  We are healthy, middle aged and vaccinated, but it is still a scary time we are living in.

Very excited that we were able to get a great deal on the Norwegian Jewel for February 21st, 2022 for a 9 day cruise to the Panama Canal, Curaçao, Aruba and Cartagena.  I really appreciate that everyone will need to prove they have been vaccinated.

Sounds like the same itinerary we have booked for January 2023!  Would love to hear your thoughts on any excursions you do or any recommendations your have or even a whole review 🤩

Your shareholder OBC should show up when you click on the vacation summary tab.  Scroll down to vacation add-ons.  It should be in that section along with your Free at Sea stuff.  It won't say shareholder benefit, though.  It will just show "Free $100 USD On-Board Credit Certificate Non -Refundable."  Or, if you are traveling with another person in your cabin it will probably say $50 (each person will be assigned $50).

    Thank you 😊

  7. I booked an NCL cruise using a travel agent this time (I usually use a PCC or book online myself.  I applied for the shareholder benefit and have no idea where to look for the on board credit.  I don’t see any financial information/balance remaining, etc. or invoice (my TA did email me a copy of that initially) at all.  All that is on there is the cruise itinerary, excursions, dining, gifts to purchase and check in.  Is this normal when using a TA?  I previously used a TA for another cruise line and I still had access to the invoice, billing, etc.

We're considering a cruise for next year on NCL. Do you know if you can request to fly in a day early? We'd be coming from the upper midwest in November/ December, so we always worry about weather cancelations that time of year

As others have said, you can request a deviation of up to 2 days on either end.  You get a $25 credit for doing so.  Because the 2nd person is flying free on this promotion you only receive the credit for one person.  If you deviate on both ends of the cruise you will see a credit of $25 for each end ($50).  Many of the NCL agents are not aware of this and tell you you have to pay an extra $25 so if that’s the answer you get, keep calling back or ask for a supervisor.

So, if we defer to 1 day before, we get a $25 (each) credit, but we lose our transfer to the port??  I'm thinking of deferring to the day before and staying at the hotel right at the airport....

You can request to keep NCL ground transfers.  We are deviating (got a total of $25 credit for both not $50) and requested to keep ground transportation which was no problem.

I think you may have posted this to the wrong discussion. Airfare deviation isn't a shareholder benefit.

If you are referring to the airfare deviation, here are the current terms, at least for the current promo:

    Deviation Requests:

    • Deviation requests up to 2 days pre/post cruise will be credited $25 USD per person per deviation for guests 1 and 3-8 on the reservation. No other deviation requests will be permitted.
    • Date deviations can be added up to 75 days prior to embarkation; once flight is ticketed, date deviations can no longer be requested. The following ships/sailings have 60 days prior: Epic 9/5/21-11/11/21; Getaway 9/13/21-11/24/21 and Jade 7/20/21-11/7/21.

As has been stated numerous times on this forum, the NCL reps are often uninformed on recent changes to policy, etc.

Oops sorry, yes totally wrong thread!  I think I had two browsers open and clicked on the wrong one!

But in response to your info - my travel agent spoke to a supervisor last week and was told there was a fee, I saw conflicting (as you posted) info and called myself and also told the same thing.

  11. My travel agent was told by NCL just last week that there was a $31 CND charge for air deviation.  We are flying out of Detroit so I’m thinking it isn’t just a US promotion, especially since the NCL info above mentions Quebec.  Anyone book within the last week get the credit?

  12. Just switched our February 2021 booking to the Have It All promo which includes the beverage package but that is not valid on Half Moon Cay from what I understand.  We also will also each receive a $50 drink card from the TA.  Anyone know if the drink cards can be used to purchase the HMC beverage package?  TA suggested we use them to buy bottle of wine but we don’t drink wine lol.  If we can’t use them for the HMC package I guess we could play it forward and hand out a couple bottles of wine to people we meet on board😊

  13. Thanks Tapi!  We also sometimes get frazzled with all there is to do on the ship and actually a more relaxing time sounds wonderful.  I was just reading about the Spa pass earlier today and thought that sounded like something that warrants some consideration.  Were you able to order it beforehand or did you wait until you boarded?  I am looking forward to your review.

  14. Found some pictures on amazon, don’t think I will rent one of those😊.  What about shade on HMC - I love the sun but DH does not.  Last time there with the kids we rented a cabana and I remember a group of people set their chairs up in the shade right against our cabana so I’m wondering if there are lots of shady spots without renting a clam shell?
