  1. For us "working stiffs" or at least me, location, pricing is what keeps me with Carnival. A vacation is what you make of it. Us, we just like the get away feeling and only a 3 hr drive to Galveston, so no airfare. If we do an Alaska, we will probably keep with Carnival since we are familiar with the policies.

  2. From what I've been told, if your PVP or TA "links" your cruises together, the computer flags it for guest services onboard so they have your cards on the ship and not shoreside. But as previous poster stated, they are considered separate cruises, separate statements, sail n sign accts, separate deposits etc. you will meet in a certain area onboard and be escorted to customs, with required paperwork, then checkin, and right back onto the ship. I have heard of a couple of times, customs will actually come onboard to clear the b2b.

  3. I have a question. We're in a specific balcony cabin and we're Early Saver past final payment.

Now the More = Merrier guaranteed BL is much lower.

I thought we could switch to that rate ONE time only?

But now Carnival is telling me that this is a downgrade and cannot be done.

    What is your experience?

That type would be considered a downgrade which is not allowed. Upgrades yes, laterals yes. Price protection rules state same category.

  4. Will there be a ceremony/special event given this is a ship arriving at a new port?

Probably not. If it was a NEW ship maybe, but this is basically a ship switch for the Triumph. When Magic came, she was New and had all kinds of celebrations and ceremonies. When Freedom was" added", had smaller ceremony and onboard concert. Nothing when Triumph replaced Ecstasy.

  5. I read a post a few weeks ago that several of the ships were getting "maintenance in Service " where they take a block of cabins out of service during a cruise and doing upgrades during the cruise, thereby reducing the amount of time the ship is totally out of service during dry dock.

  6. We had the exact situation on the Dream in January. They made us Platinum from day one with priority boarding and luggage tags. One of the nicest perks is no line at guest services and dedicated phone line as well.

Thanx for the information. I was hoping so.

  7. Doing a b2b on breeze, will be at 63 days when we board, so will turn platinum on 2nd half. My question is will we be granted upgraded status at start, or not until 2nd half on reboarded with new s&s cards? Anybody else done this? Thanx

  8. I have yet to experience the new staggered check-in times. However, I am looking at it literally -- it is a "check-in" time, not a "boarding" time.

For those that have experienced it, can you please clarify this? Can you board at the same time you check-in, or do you have to wait for boarding?[/

Correct, it not a boarding time, unless maybe if you have a late time. Boarding begins when Customs and Shipboard operations gives the proper clearance, then boarding begins in the order it always has, i.e. Wedding Parties, Plat/Dia/suites , FTTF , special assistance, them lastly general boarding by zones.
