  1. We cruised on HAL more than 200 days but they were getting larger for our taste. We .like a few hundred passengers rather than THOUSANDS!

We also like Regent"s very limited smoking rules - there is a smoking room but none in suite or balcony or restaurants!

We sailed 30 days in Navigator from Cape Town to FLL in luxury. We won't go back now!

    Regent is addictive!

    BOn Voyage

  2. We just got back from a May Alaska trip on Regent. The rail by itself is free, adding the bridge part puts it into a cost.

In Wrangall we did the extra cost Jet Boat cruise, enjoyed it very much. We just set. Well we did get out on the ice, but it was optional.

We did the Misty Fjords plane, that was a big hit.

    We enjoyed the Glacier.

We did the Crab feast, so I can't compare, but we enjoyed.

Skagway, about the only other thing is shopping.

Enjoy your trip, since ours was pretty recent, happy to answer any questions.

SADLY the BIG HIT was sightseeing plane on HAL tour that crashed and 9 killed!!!!

  3. "Free" hotel is usually E category or above.. It is clear in brochures, includes"breakfast and transfer to ship. Done it many times. Like to get to port city a day early in case flights are late or changed. Don't have to sweat it!

    STand corrected.

Just got latest brochure and it DID NOT explain "free' hotel - apparently that has gone with hoop skirts! TOO BAD! I miss the hotel not the hoop skirts!

  4. I have been Three cruises - two with celebrity (Galapagos and Norway) and Regent (Alaska) and we are booked next year on Regent again. Food is much better on Regent overall. I will forgive Regent for a terrible Caesar salad in Prime 7!

Regent will get you a better salad if you wish or anything you want. Regent food is better than celebrity in my three three celebrity cruises. No One will go hungry on most ships.

As the comedians say: You board as a passenger and leave as cargo!

  5. And your comment about portion size is so true...w/ several categories on the menus to choose from smaller / European portions were the order of the day..and yet the food was so delicious & we always were very satisfied on many levels after each meal...the only thing to do was to go up to the lounge & dance to one of the fabulous bands before the midnight buffets started...oh and of course the wines.....

Home Lines & Sitmar were also favorites of ours. The only ship I never got to sail on was the Christoforo Columbo.

Not the Mayflower? It must've been "all inclusive."

  6. So glad you enjoyed Cape Verde. We did it a few years ago and sounds like a similar excursion. Only difference was that we went up the mountain in a SCHOOL BUS! I wanted to sit on the floor of bus most of the time! We also stopped at a lovely beach and had the local alcoholic treat. I would've liked it better if we'd had the treat BEFORE the trip up that mountain with no guard rails!!!! Please report back on the Osso Bucco, one of my favorites!

Also please tell Dennis that he's looking like the lord of the manor out there on HIS veranda! Great photo!

When we were there school buses were VERY rickety!!! Warn kids to Walk!

  7. One of the many thing we like about Regent is their ships are a comfortable size - hundreds NOT thousands! And Regent pax don't have to learn Chinese. However it is GOOD to learn other languages to keep your mind sharp.
