  1. Please remember that things like e-coli are found in beef as well so it too has to be carefully prepared and also cooked to the proper temperature and that it is also found from time to time in vegetables. We too try to eat mostly organic but due so for mainly other reasons such as not having hormones meats/poultry that we eat or pesticides on vegetables/fruit.

I agree about the additives etc

(I know none of us will live forever, but I'm trying!)

  2. Terrible weather right now - "snow storm warning." I just left my wife who is bed-ridden and can not travel. I feed her every lunch in the nursing home. I had to bring flowers for Valentine's Day and was lucky to get home safely! Probably won't be able to visit Sunday.

(Nursing home is almost more expensive than a Regent cruise but NOT nearly as much fun!)

  3. Yes - we are on the Cape Town to Cape Town sailing that goes to Namibia (the sailing after that - Cape Town to Rio also goes to Namibia). Sadly, both cruises are wait listed but you could go on the waitlist. We booked when the cruise first was announced. IMO, both Cape Town and Namibia are magical. Suggest that you look at the itineraries for 2016 as they, too, will sell out quickly. Your question reminded me that, instead of checking out Cruise Critic, I should be figuring out our deviated flights to and from Cape Town. We can book them at the end of this month (very long flights so it is important to have good seats:-)

Namibia isn't much - just riding the dunes - hang on tight!

  4. I cannot possibly imagine spending two weeks in the Mediterranean and not eating in Italy or France. Why on earth travel halfway across the world to eat only on the ship where one is served upscale US-based institutional food? I am not saying I do not enjoy the food on Regent because I rather like it; however, I would never pass up a wood-fired Sicilian pizza in order to make it back to the ship in time for lunch in Compass Rose.

I've eaten in all those places and more while living in Europe for a few years.

  5. I'm happy for all you guys, Explorer sounds like a great adventure.

But I can't wrap my head around the prices. $900 pp a night for the cheapest cabin, ~$1K for the Superior Verandah. Won't do it.

Let's see, our October Nile cruise on Uniworld is priced at about $500 a night. Don't know the price of our Tauck river cruise in 2016, but I'm sure it won't be much more.

Even non-Explorer prices are still very close to $1,000 pp - save your pennies!
