  1. We board the Navigator on 13 Nov, and do not have Prime 7 reservations yet. We actually had them with some friends, but they changed the time to one that was too late for us, so now we're facing a situation where no 2 tops are available on any of the nights (it's our 25th anniversary cruise, and we'd prefer not to share a table with people we don't know). Is it difficult to get a reservation once on board? I called Regent, and they suggested going ahead and reserving a shared table on the night we want and the time, and then just asking to see if it can be changed to a table for 2. I was just wondering what the general success rate is in getting what you want (or at least, as close to it as possible) if you wait until you board the ship. And then, how do we go about getting the reservations? Wait in line at 6:00pm sharp on the first night to talk to the maitre d? We do have a butler on this cruise, but have found that it can be hit or miss as to how well they can help you, so not sure if we should work this one ourselves.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide me. Given that our original Prime 7 reservations were made as soon as our window opened up, this is definitely not a situation I expected to find myself in.

Often we asked Maitre'd or his representative during the afternoon outside CR to snag a reservation.

  2. I am an internet shopper but want to add that Target and Wal-Mart in our city are in good areas. Target is in the same mall as Macy's, Chico's and other stores where I buy clothes (but I buy them online -- only go to the mall for returns:-) Generalizing or judging people based on where they shop is simply wrong! Most of our stores are jammed with Canadians -- no migrants or snowbirds. They shop here because prices for some items (particularly milk) is dramatically lower than in Canada. I once dropped my wallet in the parking lot. It was taken to a post office which made sure it was delivered to me (money in tact).

Macy's is NOT ethical! I sent a $200 payment on internet and made a mistake and hit WRONG M account. I did NOT owe Macy's anything! It's been more than a year! BIG Macy's never returned my money! How unethical!

  3. We went to Antarctica on Regent, they chartered a ship for the adventure but I expect they will go to the 7th continent with its new explorer ship. Lindblad National Geographic would be a good experience, also.

DO NOT just do a cruise-by, we had several landings. You'll LOVE it.

  4. Re. Boat Drill! It is mandated by SOLAS - Safety Of Lives at Sea! I think it is a VERY GOOD idea!

No doubt apocryphal: Winston Churchill landed in NYC and reporters asked why he didn't sail over on a British liner?

Churchill said he likes the Italian lines ," None of this Women and children FIRST nonsense!"

  5. BIG MISTAKE! Better to arrive one or two days prior of sailing! TOO MANY things can go WRONG: Weather, mechanical, world events, even volcano eruptions!

You can be LUCKY BUT you can also BE NOT LUCKY! WAY TOO MUCH STRESS when you roll the dice and LOSE!

Take advantage of exploring port city, many are VERY interesting! Another advantage is to rest up so you're not dog-tired when you board!

You can also buy expensive insurance that could cover any loss. (READ the small print!)

  6. I'm not on that cruise but I'd wait and see and trust Regent makes the correct decision. PROBABLY not to stop in Senegal if there is any risk for pax and crew. They could sub it for another port. I'd be happy if they visit one of Atlantic islands that are not often on itineraries!

I love new places. St. Helena is a neat island, been there, but there other possibilities for those on this cruise.
