This will be our first MSC cruise.

Sailing from Durban to Italy in April/May 2023.

Neither of us drink alcohol so we are looking for a soft drink package. On other lines there is a per day charge for a soft drink package.

For our sailing, the only thing I can find on the MSC webpage is this:

    image.png.20f2e5b72d83857ff517199f35990381.png

I'm not at all sure what this is saying. Is $19 a per day charge for the cabin?, per day charge per person?.

Are they selling just the one package of 10 canned sodas for the entire 23 day sailing?

    Really confused!!!

I don't understand the confusion, it clearly says "per state room $19", so why are you asking if it is per person or per cabin?  It also tells you it is for 10 items.  So,it is for 10 items total to be used by anyone in the cabi.

  2. Have you checked on the SA Embassy Or Consulate site in your country to see what they require for cruise visitors from your country? Or with their government's website in SA?

Premium & Classic beverage package.  🍷

Thanks, this was the first hit on my Google search for "pall".   That sound right. I had Classic last month, and next month's cruise is a comp suite, which includes Premium drink package

As a Princes Casino Ultimate VIP invited guest a couple of years ago...I received VIP boarding, special welcome cocktail party, casino credit, complimentary drinks in the casino (you have wear a special lanyard to identify you), gifts in the stateroom. There were several special drawings held in the casino throughout the cruise that you had to be present for and playing to be eligible.  VIP cocktail reception towards end of cruise where several drawings were held, including for a free cruise.

But, did you win a prize?  In the offer I received recently  it shows 2 ultimate vip cruises and a bunch of other cruises.
I would get a free balcony and some casino play.  What I am trying to determine is what gifts are.  It says if  cruise on one of the ultimate vip cruises "and also receive a special gift, like an Apple Macbook Pro, 65 inch LED TV, or casino free play"

    Dave,

I actually think it is a great program, just not properly funded.  I prefer a pay to play plan.

And, most of us would personally not like to pay extra hotel and car rental taxes to fund stadiums we don't use.  The taxes cruise passengers pay for those is far greater than the cost of providing luggage transport to the airport, so people can spend more time in the city.  I am also sure, these passengers are spending other money in Seattle supporting the people who live there.

I would love to use this service, but have a question regarding the bag fees. I will be flying American home with a flight at 3PM. American normally has a $25 checked bag fee, but I have their credit card so I receive the first checked bag free.

Does anyone know if I will be charged the $25 checked bag fee as I am not checking my bag at the airport and inserting my AA credit credit card when checking my bag?

The free bag is NOT tied to using your credit card at check-in, it is tied to your Aadvantage number.  You don't have to use the credit card to get the free bag.  Just  the credit card already gives an indication that bookings with the connected AAdvantage number are entitled to a free bag. You can use any card to book your ticket or pay other fees.  Using your card at the kiosk is simply a method to get find your reservation, you could get the same free bag by using your Driver's License, passport, or simply entering your AAdvantage number at the Kiosk

  7. The price for our Musica cruise next month is

    10 for $28, 20 for $38, and 40 for $49

I would generally pack enough socks and underwear for the 9 day cruise, plus hotel stay the night before.  I wash t-shirts.  I bought the 10 item one for our 7 day cruise.  I might buy the 20 item one for this cruise.

Thanks!  I gave it a try and it says "You've got Booty".   The screen that popped up on the right seems to indicate $200.  I took a screenshot.  If I get it, great.  If not, oh well.  I'll find out in August.

The access key screen is not tied to a cruise. If you look at the image, it says "book a voyage", so the offer is for a future booking

Thanks for the tip, it worked for me too! The only problem is it looks like it can only be used for a future booking. I wonder if there’s a way to get it transferred to my current booking. I guess if worst comes to worst I can cancel and rebook?

It looks like it lets you use it to book another cruise

  10. We are booked on an Elite Cruise on Mardi Gras for the first scheduled public cruise, Aug 31-Sept 9 from Copenhagen to Southampton with stops in Norway, Sweden, Belgium, France, and Germany.  So, a quick 7 countries, counting the endpoints.
We were already booked on a casino offer on the Sept 9 - 23 Transatlantic from Southampton to New York, with stops in a few Spanish and Portuguese islands before heading across the Atlantic. Before then we are on RCCL Freedom of the Seas from San Juan in November, and in February, MSC Musica for a 9 day cruise from Buenos Aires with stops in Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil..........Overnight stop in Rio for Carnival (Feb 24-25).  The RCCL was via URCOMPED.com, which gets you trips based on your offers from other Casinos.  You upload copies of your offers and they get you cruises or land base trips.  The MSC trip is in a suite with Aurea experience, due to a the first cruise URCOMPED got us, in June of this year for trip from Genoa, Italy on the new MSC Bellisima

  11. Has anyone gone on an elite cruise involving Southampton?  Do they offer free private car service from Southampton to Heathrow? The one that I have just got offered has the first scheduled cruise for Mardi Gras from Copenhagen to Southampton

from Aug 31- Sept 9, 2020. We are already booked on the Sept 9-23 Transatlantic, but will probably cancel that for this.  For the cruise from Copenhagen, I got a balcony and $1000 in free play.   We did our first Elite trip in January on Vista from Galveston, so free parking.  We had a choice of 2 shore excursion or a spa credit ($150 each, I think).

By the way, you can use your Carnival and other casino offers to get free shore casino comps or comped on other cruises.  A couple of weeks ago we finished an MSC cruise from Genoa.  MSC matched my NCL status and gave me black status (Not great, but you do get a chocolate ship and a free meal).  urcomped.com is the site where I got this cruise, and an Royal Caribbean Cruise in Nov from San Juan.  On the MSC cruise, we needed a $400 deposit, but got it back in cabin credit.  We did not have to pay any port fees/taxes for that.  For the RC cruise, we had to pay the tax/port fees, but no other deposit.  Both of these were comped balcony. I played enough on MSC Bellisima to get a cruise of up to 10 days in a suite with the "Aurea" experience.  MSC has 3 different experience levels, Aurea includes the most.

  12. When do you get the pre-cruise gift?  How? (on the ship, by mail)?

We are on Vista from Galveston this Sunday (Jan 13)

Apparently no free drinks until 6AM the next morning due to some law, although I don't know why that would affect non-alcoholic drinks

SWEET! Our DD (7 Years Old) is also Black Card - I hope she gets the dinner as well! 🙂

yeah, but if both of you are black, then she will have to find someone else for the other free one 🙂

  14. There's always a glimmer of hope when asking such a question. But the answer is "no". You can't use ordinary gift cards "on board" any Princess ships (AmEx, Visa, etc gift cards).

And like other corporations...TacoBell/KFC, GAP/Banana Republic/Old Navy....gift cards are not interchangeable.

Why would you make such a guess like that?

Gap says "Gap gift cards can be used at any of the Gap brand stores includingGap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Athleta. Our Gap gift card is sent in a special envelope with your personalized message by mail within 3 to 5 business days or can be sent immediately by email if you prefer."

  15. We were in C319 on your cruise and probably had the best in-cabin wifi reception of any Princess ship we had been on. I propped the door open the first time I connected to wifi from our cabin and got 5 bars surprisingly. The next day I didn't prop the door open and it stayed between 4 and 5 bars. It was a noticeable difference. Still not like land-based wifi but if the speed would be like this on other Princess ships, I would be very happy.

The bars indicate signal strength, not speed. What was the speed?
