  1. Carnival did!

We were in a deck 6 cabin on the Carnival Triumph. It turned out to be over a band with the speakers straight up. Carnival thinks that you are having more FUN if it's loud. We could hear every note and feel vibrations. After coming up with a thing that measured sound they moved us to a better cabin. And a quiet one. They looked at us kinda funny at our answer to the question of what time we go to bed.

  2. On the Triumph most Deck 1 cabins are good. On the 2nd deck you need to avoid being under the Galley. In general look at what is above and below your cabin. If its guest cabins you should be safe. I love the Lido balcony cabins but in the Winter Deck 1.

We have been on the Magic. I can tell you what was good, cant tell you what is bad. It is a very, very big ship. If your cabin is at either end what you want will probably be at the other!

I don't think that I would like an inside cabin anywhere!

  3. Stay away from 6507, 6476, and 6474 unless you don't go to sleep until after 2pm! It is amazing that on a new ship where the ceiling of a comedy club meets the floor of upgraded cabins (cabins are quite nice!) that there is no insulation? Even better, some simple detective work revealed that speakers are attached to the ceilings (how absolutely ignorant). Obviously this experience is consistent with the multiple mechanical problems with Carnival. Not only do these ships tend to attract the "fun party" drinkers, but apparently the planning staff are also clueless? The only reason to be attracted to these cabins is if you feel the need for some punishment.

I have learned that it is safer to have cabins above and below. We had a problem on the Carnival Conquest with speakers aimed straight up. The floor vibrated and we could hear every word.

  4. Hi - We were on Allure in room 9520 - a D2 cabin. I'll attempt to attach a photo (I'm new at posting on CC) - having a connecting room in this case meant that there wasn't even a couch - just the single chair. Not a real problem as we loved Allure - just a lesson learned about double checking for connecting rooms.

Was that an ocean or an inside balcony? Did you like the Allure? I'm kinda intimidated.

  5. Why do you need a card with a magnetic strip? How does that work in the safe? Sorry, this seems totally foreign to me. Is that how it works on all ships, or just RCCL?

You slide it just as you do your credit card at the grocery. A used up gift card is good. I understand that some of the newer Carnival ships want a card in a slot to turn on lights. I haven't been on one so don't understand it.

  6. Here are some photos I took of my Cove Balcony on Carnival Dream. As you can see in a couple of the photos, we were sailing in a storm and the storm doors were not closed. So I am guessing it has to really be pretty bad out to warrant closure of the storm doors. I loved the cove balcony! It was really exciting to be so close to the water! :D

Thank you for the pics! We will be in a Cove on the Magic but not until May. Should I take my fishing pole?
