1. We are considering taking the Conquest for Key West, etc. in November. It's the week BEFORE Thanksgiving week. How likely is this cruise will have lots of kids and teens? We've pretty much sailed NCL since 2001. Hated our last Carnival cruise which was, admittedly, over 25 years ago. Thanks.

I think that you will enjoy Key West. We love walking down Duval Street.

Hated your last Carnival Cruise 25 years ago? We hated our 1st 18 months ago. But we loved our last one 3 weeks ago! Try again and have a great time!

  2.
I'm not that good at writing extensive reviews but I would more than happy to respond to Conquest questions from time to time. I just got off the FEB 8 - 15 Carnival Conquest in Galveston.

BTW....had a terrific time with my wife and two children!
Have you been on the Conquest before? What did you like best about it and what did you like least?

    Thanks for the info!

  3. Some have asked about accomodations in Galveston. According to the Houston Chronicle today:

The Harbor House on Pier 21 is now open. Elevator service will be reinstated in mid-April. Room rates are $89-$149. http://www.harborhousepier21.com

The Olympia Restaurant at Pier 21 is scheduled to open in Mar or June.

The Tremont House hotel is expected to reopen in May. http://www.galveston.com/thetremonthouse

  4. Actually, I have been to Nassau on the Glory, the Conquest's sister ship, so I am familiar with the port in Nassau.

We dock practically downtown and just walking distance to the straw market. There are plenty of taxis, scooters, etc. right outside the terminal area. When we were there two years ago, we did the historical tour of the city and really enjoyed it. That is the best way to see all of Nassau. However, I will try to write an extensive report of each port. If you have specific questions you can email me at cruisegirl23 at sbcglobal dot net. But do it tonight or first thing in the morning.

We are to do that trip in July. I am really looking forward to hearing about yours.

I have been to Key West and really do like it. We did the trolly around town and thought it was very good.

  6. 2. Since it's our first cruise we're thinking 'bout an ocean view room instead of a balcony...should we let Carnival select our room and hope for a free upgrade or should we pick our cabin location?

Do get a balcony if you can. You will have a place to get away from the world when you choose!

    3. And finally (for now anyway)...My wife may have an issue with seasickness ...from what I've read the back of the ship seems like the most stable...is this accurate? Are there noise issues from the engines or above decks? Opinion on aft-view cabins...

For seasickness... A patch? We seem to have been aft lately. We have had no problem with stability.

I hope that you love cruising as much as we do!!!
