  1. Just wanted to let you know that we did early departure this morning. Got in the line on the Allure at 6 and was at our gate at 6:50. In plenty of time to make our 9:45 flight. [emoji3]

Yes. It can be done. However, any issue related to the ship or customs could stop you in your tracks. Not a good way to end a cruise. I get off the ship early too , but like the cushion of a 10;45am flight.

  2. I'm curious how it works out, if you don't mind reporting back.

I spoke with the Redemption Dept. and they ran the 75,000 points two ways.

I could get $750 credit off the remaining balance of $2300 ++ or lose the booked sale price @ $2600 ++ which would then become $4900 minus $1500 for a companion fare discount. Wow! Thanks again for your help.

  3. I would redeem the points before final payment so that your final payment is less.

However, you may want to call the redemption people to find out exactly what your "free" companion fare redemption is worth. The cruise line will probably remove the fake sale price before they add the redemption, so you may be better off using a discount redemption and taking a straight $750 off the fake sale price.

I am new to all of of this so I am not sure what you mean by the info underlined above.

  4. I will be on the Oasis soon with final payment due on August 25 and would like to redeem 75,000 points for the companion fare. However, I am not sure if I make the final payment then redeem points before the sail date for a credit on my payment or do I contact RCL now before the final payment to redeem the points and then pay the balance due. I would appreciate any helpful info.

  5. I have searched and seen the posts of "it's opening", "it's not opening", "it's bankrupt", etc. We will be there May 28 and trying to figure out if just the casino is open. And if so, can the general public visit it?

The new Bahia Mar development filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and is in receivership now according to a hospitality trade magazine. The future of the project is uncertain at this time.

  6. I live in both places. That is a 700 mile drive. I highly suggest flying to Fort Lauderdale on the departure day. Get to Lauderdale by 11:00am & board the ship by noon for a great day. When the ship returns it will be a 700 mile drive back to Atlanta. After a relaxing week, the drive home will take its toll.

  7. A call such as a family Emergency should have been placed to the Hotel Director only to place on onus on the top tier person to handle the message. Speak to them personally. 5 Star hotels have handled this right for years. The ships want us to believe they are 5 Star. Prove it !!

  8. We were there a couple of weeks ago at the Kon-Tiki beach bar, where it looked like the OP was. There were beach vendors and I was pestered about every 45 minutes. We were there 5 hours and we had 7 beach vendors try to sell us stuff. I counted.

They were walking around but only "bothered" people who did show an interest in their wares. These hard working, enterprising folks did in no way diminish my enjoyment of the beach.

I was at Kon Tiki recently & had a similar experience. Actually the vendors were not aggressive & very quite. I have been to other ports were they hound you to buy & will not leave. Nuff said.
