I'm not really nervous. I figure what will be will be and very little I can do about it. I have faith the ship and its driver will keep us safe.

At this point I'm assuming we'll be notified at the port? I don't like that idea at all , it won't change us from going, just would like time to prepare and research activities to replace the ones we had booked.
If that's the case I'll post the details here.

Beautiful.
We live on the other coast of Florida so this time of year it's hot, sunny and rains a little bit each day. Yesterday the rains held off until bed time which was great for us. We got to the hotel
Before rush hour, went out to dinner after rush hour.

Nah they'll send you to other ports before they'll cancel. Don't worry.

Does Carnival usually wait for us to get on board to tell us any itinerary changes?
Last time, we were notified around 8pm the night before. We're on the Glory tomorrow - supposed to be eastbound. I'm confident we'll be headed west.

We get back to Miami on the 9th as well. We live on the other coast of FL so we watch this stuff like hawks anyway.

Saturday on Glory. Kinda bummed at the idea of missing a few of the ports (eastern) but ''tis the season.

We took her to camp Carnival most afternoons but took her to dinner with us and after dinner we brought her back. 2 of the nights we left her there during dinner and Camp Carnival brought them to dinner. They had macaroni and cheese and nuggets. Not sure if they had more choices but that's what I was told they had.
My daughter loved it for the first 5 days. On the fifth day when we went to pick her up she ran to us so fast crying as if she couldn't get away fast enough. After that we could not get her to go. As soon as we got out the elevator on the 11th floor she was bawling very loudly and fighting not to go. When she saw one of the ladies that works there she was crying so loud we had to quickly get her on the elevator and back down in order not to disturb anyone. We tried the next day but the reaction was still the same. She also had a small cut in her nose from the night before when we picked her up but it was just very small and kids always gets scratches so we did not even think much of it. I asked one of the workers if she knew why my daughter's attitude towards camp had changed but she said she do not know why. All she said was that my daughter was crying for the most part on the 5th night. I did not mention the scratch or did not mention it to anyone other than the workers I asked if they know what happened why she did not want to go back. The bad thing is that she just turned 2 in March so she cannot speak properly as yet so she is not able to tell us what happened. It is just so surprising how she ran away from us excited on the first few days but after that we could not get her near the door.
I hope your daughter doesn't have that experience.

Wow, that isn't what I wanted to hear.
My daughter is a daycare kid ( not bragging lol) so were not stranger to little kids beating each other up and the associated battle wounds.
That said, she's 4 and very vocal and very ready to tell anything that needs told.

Would love your opinion on Camp Carnival. Our daughter is 4 and we're cruising Glory in September. This will be her second cruise ( First was Ecstasy but she was too young to remember). Did you take her to dinner in the evening or did she go with camp?

As I recall, and it's been a few years back now, the "castle" is just a tall tower. But you enter through a home/inn with lots of antiques and interesting furnishings and a good historic park. $10 or $15 to enter. There's a rum tasting room. And yes you can walk from downtown C.A. but take a tram or taxi from the cruise port to downtown. It is up hill. I wouldn't pay for a guided tour as its easily seen DIY.
It was pretty underwhelming. We were dropped there at the end of our excursion, down the 99 steps into town.

We always prepay OBC(gift cards or however) and just let them know you're doing cash when you check in and you don't have to do the deposit. They'll direct you to customer service.

Following! We're sailing on the Glory in September, so I'm super excited for your review!
Same cruise, cant wait!

We did a thanksgiving cruise a few years ago, also in San Juan. Some of the shops were open. The fort itself was closed but you could go walk around the grounds, we were satisfied with that. It was nice being there on that day as there were no hassles.
Only trouble of the day was returning to port for an injured passenger.
Food was fine. Nothing over the top. I may of had Indian that night.
-
I always ask for extra fries and the pig burger. Never had an issue with ordering anything on the ship.
-
Our first cruise was Legend, then Triumph, Conquest. We had the same concern last year on the Ecstasy but we absolutely loved every minute of it. Less crowds, staff was wonderful, plenty to do without walking a mile to do it. It was just about perfect.
We "ended up" on the Breeze this year, only because we wanted a longer trip with more variety in ports.
-
We had one last year on the Ecstasy and it was fine. We took along magnetic hooks and a nice looking shower curtain to hang around it for both privacy and to block light at nap time.

Is a change to a larger terminal indicative of any changes to ships that may be coming? Can't wait for the Tampa announcements.
I'm not sure they can go too big out of Tampa unless they make the bridge taller.

Carnival Legend with Wee Jimmy.
Got to the port (Tampa) extra early and watched the workers load all of the food and drinks and just couldn't believe what I was seeing.
Boarded into a narrow hall and rushed to Lido. Had burgers and frys as the was the first place we came to, had no idea what was past those sliding doors until I went to find a bathroom. I grabbed my wife and we ate until we couldn't anymore.
Skipped dinner that night to watch the ship pass under the Bridge.
By far, the best moment of the cruise though was telling my wife "welcome to Mexico" when we ported in Cozumel. She'd always wanted to go but never had.

We did 2 days. The first in French Quarter / CBD / Garden District and the second at Jean Lafitte preserve and Oak Alley.
We both felt like it was plenty of time to explore.
As for food!
Deannies in Bucktown for dinner, Central Market for lunch, Mothers for... Second lunch [emoji39] and Cafe du Monde for breakfast.... And snacks here and there in between.

We stay at La Quinta mostly. Not fantastic but we've had no problems.
Well, I take that back. The car was a bit dusty when we picked it up last year
The week it was parked at POM in the garage, it was filthy. -
we may be ""dancing on the ceiling"" That's all she would say. I know who that could be...:)
All night long?
-
When we drive to port, we've been there as late as 11 and had no issue at all.
But!
The past cruise or two and the one coming up, we've been staying at a hotel with parking for the week. They have a shuttle, but, we typically take a $25 cab and go when we're up and ready. Easy peasy and no Miami traffic. The hotel works out a little cheaper than the garage for the week. -
It's not a lot, but worth a trip over. I wouldn't go beyond the gates though. There's a couple bars there you can have a drink also.
+1 unless you have an excursion. We did the Altun Ha tour which was nice. If we ever make the stop again, we likely won't get off.
Hurricane irma....ugh
