Before our Barcelona to Istanbul cruise that began May 30, we stayed at the Hotel Monument, boutique hotel, part of AmEx preferred hotels. Well located, nice rooms, excellent friendly staff.

We are in a PH A, 1114, now. Everything is in good condition, though dated. Our balcony door does not look like the picture. I think the curtains, sheers, and bed skirts have been replaced. We’ve been on Mariner a lot in a variety of suites. This is our favorite.

I believe they left in Rome.

We did a similar cruise in September 2021. I took clothes to layer and then warmer weather clothes as we went south along the coast. As I remember, we lucked out with no rain, although I had a rain jacket with me and a lightweight jacket. We experienced no weather like the warm Septembers we have in SC😊. I believe the Pool Grill dinner option is no longer available on Regent ships. Yes, it was warm enough to eat at the pool Grill during the day. Wonderful itinerary, enjoy!

We are on Mariner now, anchored in Sicily. Boarded in Barcelona May 30, so we have had some time to experience the cruise(s) and the ship. We have not encountered any of the issues cited in this thread. Everything in our suite works well. Service is Regent excellent. Food quality and temperature is fine. But . . . as much as we enjoy Mariner, she definitely needs to go into dry dock. Decor is tired, although we feel some of the soft goods in our suite had been recently replaced. Especially because Mariner does interesting itineraries, we would not hesitate to sail on her again.

I see what you mean - apologies - I am pretty tired tonight. Not all GM's are the same, are they? 😉
No, they are not! 😊

We have a similar picture! That was a good cruise right after dry dock.

After 260+ nights on Regent, we have had one disappointing (for many reasons) Regent cruise—December 2021, Mariner Panama Canal. This was Mariner’s first cruise after reopening and it had at least one senior management person in common with the latter part of the 2023 world cruise. At that time I noted rust and mold around our veranda door and rust in some areas of the suite. Well, we board Mariner on Tuesday for 22 days and will celebrate our 50th anniversary while on board. I am concerned but look forward to a good experience with tempered expectations.
Since the Mariner 2021 cruise, we have enjoyed two wonderful trips on Navigator and Voyager and found those ships to be well maintained and providing excellent service.

As you board the ship, ask a staff or crew member where you can check your hand luggage. A place is usually set aside in one of the lounges with an attendant. You’ll receive a claim check and can pick up your items when your suite is ready. We do this on each cruise. Much easier than lugging everything with you or interrupting the room stewards as they are trying to ready the ship.

Ask CD, GM, or at Reception. Both of our experiences were scheduled events. We just showed up. GP, I didn’t mean to hijack your wonderful reports. Got a little excited remembering these fun events.

Thanks for the star gazing reminder! We have experienced 2 such events on Regent cruises. One was a Panama Canal cruise, one of the lecturers was an astronomer, and the other a TA from Rio to Barcelona, when one of the officers volunteered his expertise.

We were on Voyager, Nov.-Dec. 2022. She was in great shape and handled some rough seas quite well.

I believe an H suite on Mariner is quite different from an H suite on the Explorer class ships.

Of the 15 Regent cruises (5 post Covid) we have enjoyed, I cannot remember a cruise when a tour or two was not cancelled or materially changed. We have always found an alternative that was satisfactory. On a recent Voyager cruise down the west African coast, Destination Services communicated very clearly, lowering passengers’ expectations about infrastructure, reliability, and guide quality. Good, clear communication would help in these post Covid times.

$1,000 refundable deposit for up to 6 suite levels. We’ve done this successfully a few times.

Thank you, Rachel, for your good, informative reports. I will use them for our cruise next year. Safe traveling home. It is always sad when the suitcases appear on the bed!

Marc
I have same question for same voyage. Thanks, Jan

I would like to get back on topic and know if Regent has acknowledged and apologized for the OP’s treatment and mishandling.
I would too! What was Regent’s response?

Is there a spa menu or price list available pre cruise ?
rssc.com, Regent Experience, Onboard Activities, Spa & Wellness—brochure with spa menu. I didn’t see a price list, but contact information is in #3 post.

Passport renewal received at processing center January 17. New passports received today, March 17. Did not use expedited processing. We were able to track them online. So many more pages for Regent adventures☘️!

Appointments can be made from 60 to 7 days before sailing. You will need your Booking Number and ship. I usually email them with preferred appointment times and receive a reply within a day or two.

Mariner, 1114, 1 bath, walk-in shower, no noise, absolutely; quiet, near pool deck & La Veranda, really liked this suite
Bill, on May 25 were you at Schwaben House in Greenville? We spoke with someone while waiting to be seated about Regent. After we got home, I thought it might have been you. Jan
