One thing I noted that has also been commented on by quite a few forum members is that the deserts on Celebrity in the buffet look great but lack any kind of flavour. And despite their appearances often taste very similar.
Very true.........found the same at Al Bacio, buffet and MDR - looked good but tasted poor.

Won’t work.......there will be someone to complain the smoke drifted back to their balcony and ruined their cruise.

Specialty restaurants on Silhouette do not compare at all with a Michelin 1* let alone any higher stars. There was no problem getting a table at any of the restaurants any night. We had booked Muranos for the second night of cruise as it was a sea day and paid full price. All other nights we got discounts at all restaurants. For the most part, we were happy with the specialty restaurants.
I thought the food in MDR was terrible - only ate there 3 times on 14 night cruise. Out of those 3 meals, only one salad was good. Overall, the food in the buffet was good. However, I agree with another poster about people cutting in front as though this was going to be the last bite of food they would ever see. I’m sure they’d push children, women and the elderly of the way if the ship was going down.
We were in a regular verandah but I spoke to 4 different people staying in Aqua class who said the food was pretty well equivalent to MDR.

that would be a great idea
Maybe you’re the type who would like to include all the overweight and obese people also. Guess you’re perfect.

Whether they were vaping or smoking is not the point - no one, whether crew or other smokers, would tolerate some wheeling a O2 tank into a smoking area. Incineration for all.

Just off the Silhouette and I can assure that some non-smokers don’t mind sitting in the smoking section of Sunset Bar and Mast Grill if they want the sunshine and a chair.

I can also assure you that you didn’t see someone with a O2 tank smoking - not only would the crew jump at someone with O2 lighting a cigarette - so would other smokers - who wants to go up in a puffball on their cruise. People tend to exaggerate greatly when it comes to smoking.

We are also on board Silhouette and agree the dining room food is terrible. Have only eaten there 3 times as the food was so poor - inedible pork, dry cod, tasteless soups, poor salads and desserts. And the crème brûlée was the worst I’ve ever had. We are doing the rounds of the specialties as just cannot face the food there.
The buffet is fine as are the specialty restaurants for the most part - haven’t gone to Le Petit Chef.

Just to report that we had no problems entering St. Petersburg the two days with a single entry visa.

Currently on Silhouette in Baltics and also first time on Celebrity. All in all, a good experience and maybe a notch above Princess (sailed with them in Med) for the public areas.
Embarkation a breeze in Southampton. In a regular verandah cabin on the hump - cabin is very nice.
Food - leaves a bit to be desired. Buffet not bad at all. Have eaten only twice in dining room and both meals okay to poor. Muranos just okay - disappointing really and will not book again. The Lawn Grill for steaks was very good. Have booked Tuscan and will try the Japanese.
Many of the venues have a very limited wine selection. Service is good everywhere on board.

I would suggest the water taxi in (150 € plus) and take hotel but it’s an expensive option and you’ll be arriving late and also exhausted. Venice is a magical city but if you’re tired you’ll maybe end up just going to sleep in a very pricey hotel.

Will you feel the same if Celebrity puts king beds in all the Veranda cabins during the "Revolution"?
Yes, I’ll feel the same - I still won’t like the faux balcony.
I’d still take a regular verandah even though I would lose 16 inches due to the width of the king bed.

I was looking at total square footage. I’d rather have 194 in room and 54 on the balcony than a faux balcony look in the room. Just my preference.

This is a cabin with an operational window, not a verandah
How true ! And these cabins are slightly smaller - checked them against the dimensions of the Silhouette.

Not that it matters, but totally wrong on my last post about upcoming cruise. We booked on December - so before final payment.
-
We booked after final payment for upcoming cruise in June - seemed like a good price at the time. It is considerably less than what was showing on Celebrity’s website later. So we’re happy.
Have another cruise booked for next June on the Edge - thinking about waiting till after final payment. Only problem is we have a SV booked and don’t want an IV. Any other ship wouldn’t be a problem for me.
-
I shall send you a picture - again, many thanks. And hope you are able to take this trip in the future.

bdon9@nl.rogers.com. Many thanks.

Holly, very Kind offer. We will be in Stockholm 11 June ( on 02 June sailing ) if you have 2 tickets left.
Sorry to hear you had to cancel.

Photos do not always show the true story...but at least you took the time to look at some photos.
What cruise line do you sail on?
X and Carnival not really interchangeable!
“A picture is worth a thousand words.”
I said the dress of the passengers on both Celebrity and Carnival was interchangeable - both sets of passengers wearing shorts, Tees, sneakers, capris and tank tops.
“Affluent or not, many from Carnival, NCL and some from Royal are not into looking chic!” to quote you from a different thread. Very disparaging, to say the least.

So clueless that they don’t realize it’s been cut back. And really, with the amount of alcohol they imbibe, they wouldn’t know a filet from a fillet. Next it’ll be beans on toast to go with their Jack & Coke. And sad thing is they’ll think they’re having a grand time as they sit there in their flip flops and robes because............they just don’t know any better.

Not looking to argue but the demographic definitely changed with alc packages as perks.. Affluent or not, .many from Carnival, NCL and some from Royal are not into looking chic!
My, my.......the poor souls moving from Carnival, NCL and Royal and not knowing how to dress !
And, pray tell - how are you so nattily attired ? How could we tell you apart from the other “demographic” during the day ?

There is a great deal more to luxury than free drinks......as everyone knows.
It’s possible Celebrity has lost its’ niche of being at or near the top of the mid mass market lines at one time. It’s become just one of the crowd. Happens to lots of restaurants, hotels, etc. And when it happens, it seems the only solution, if you want a better product, is to move up to the premium or luxury lines.

Yes, thanks for the review - we’re on the 2 June sailing. Good information on Copenhagen, especially the taxi going back to ship as we are also planning to eat in the city and taxi back.

No need to think of the old crowd - you need to be concerned about your viewpoint. If you don’t want to see alternative lifestyle groups on board, that’s one thing. Don’t try to justify it by saying the equivalent of “think of the children” or, in this case, the elderly.
