  1. I agree, the Cruisetour sounds expensive for what it is. You would certainly see some nice places, but in a short time. You would be spending a significant amount of time in airports and on planes.

If you could add more days and do the bookings yourself, I think you would have better value for money and greater flexibility to see the things you are interested in.

  2. The prices wil depend on how the flights "gel" with the cruise date .

When we did Tahiti on Tahitian Princess we had to have a 1 night pre stay and 2 nights post stay in a hotel ......Hotels are not cheap in Tahiti..

Yes, we looked at Tahiti as an end point for a cruise from Hawaii last year, the hotels and the one way air fare were a jaw dropper!

  3. An agent I have booked several cruises with said this week that the following was the best he has seen in 28 years of working in the industry.

I wont quote prices as there are several options available, which will differ for Au/NZ due to flight arrangements . 2 NZ agents are featuring it in full page spreads in this mornings Sunday paper travel section.

    So what is it?

Fly cruise on the Paul Gauguin in Tahiti .

There are set dates and a 3 night Hotel stay is included, due to flight times.

You have a choice of Economy or Business .

Economy is , Economy air,Lagoon view Hotel room and Ocean View Cabin on board.

Business is Business air, an Over the water Bungalow at the Hotel, and a balcony cabin on board.

If you have ever dreamed of a luxury holiday, this must be it.

I would love to do that cruise...I will have to check out our Sunday papers and see if we can get a deal too!

  4. Just received this in an email newsletter...

Rhapsody of the Seas Hawaii to Auckland, 14 nights with onboard gratuities included from $999 . Departs Sept 21 2011.

This is a great deal, must really be trying to fill her up! If only I could have more time off work!

Just to add to this, in the Sunday paper today there was an add for this cruise , airfare to Honolulu, 3 nights hotel accommodation pre cruise and airfare from Auckland for the price of $2493 per person.

Still can't get the time off work though!

  6. Some great deals going on 2012 P&O UK world cruise sectors, i.e. Arcadia, Aurora, Oriana. I just picked up one on Arcadia. Outside cabin - 49 days, Arcadia - Sydney - Southampton via Africa..$5600 plus £125 obc pp. You can go direct to P&O or the on line t/a's. Much the same price.

That is about $114.00 per day for your sector - great price! That is why we booked her too - really good deals.

See you on board Arcadia :)

  7. I have been looking tonight at some great deals available on sectors of the world cruise on Arcadia for next March - 14 night Sydney to Singapore from $1679 per person.

Another deal I saw was fly-stay-cruise, 20 nights includes air fare to Hong Kong, 2 nights accommodation, 18 night cruise back to Sydney on P&O Oriana, starting from $2799 per person. Departs in Feb 2012.

These were on an online cruise website, seem like great deals to me!

  8. I am considering this company myself. Can you give me an idea of what she charges? Thanks!

I emailed Karen some time before we left to ask about her tours, they were too expensive for us for a one day tour. I have deleted the email reply she sent, however I think the cost was around $400 for the 2 of us for the day.

Email her on her website and she will let you know the cost for what you may want to do.

  9. Hi Donna,

So sad to hear about your mother. My sympathies.

Memories are what get us through these times and now when I think of it, I am really glad we had the opportunity to have a family vacation in Hawaii.

Thanks Donna, for introducing me to Mixbook -and I finally got it published.

I thought I proofread that book, but as soon as I pushed the published button, I found 2 typos....grrr.

    anyway, here it is.

Your book is lovely, thank you for sharing. I have also finished my photobook for our trip to Fiji last year. I have it printed and sitting at home, but I can't seem to share it on the internet...so I will have to find another site to use to do this. Rather annoyed when I found this out after doing all the editing work!

Thanks also to Donna for inspiring me to have a go at the photobook as well!

  10. Donna: Thank you for all of the information! I think this will be my next huge project to do. I have a TON of stuff from past vacations, just throwing it boxes and telling myself when I get time I will do something with it. This seems like it might take some time but will definitely be the easiest. I will let you know! This is my three days off from work project, it will take me that long just to download the photos and find all my keepsakes. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. My oldest is home from college as of last night! Yea!

Seeing Donna's album has also inspired me to get my act together and do something with all my trip photos as well!!

  11. Fantastic! The report and the photos are great.

Your Friday is pretty much exactly what we have planned for our first cruise, so it is good to read about the helicopter flight, and the other things close to the ship. We are only planning on keeping our rental car for the first day and I have been wondering if we would need it on the Friday as well, but now I see we won't.

Just a little aside about helicopters - many years ago I was on a scenic flight over the Bungle Bungle NP in Western Australia (an amazing place). Anyway, we were flying along having a great old time when the door that I was seated next to fell open - minor panic attack!! The pilot talked me through shutting the door again as he manouvered the chopper to lessen the wind resistance so it was easier for me to do! Interesting things happen when you least expect them!

  12. I am also really enjoying your review and have picked up several great bits of info! I will be cutting and pasting when it is finished so I can print it out for us to use:)

I have a question regarding the partial hike of Kalalau trail that you did....how long did it take you to do the hike?

We are also planning to do the first bit if the weather and timing cooperate.

  13. How does turnaround day work when on a back to back cruise? We will be in the same cabin, so I know we won't be packing and disembarking.

But we will want to get off the ship and go and do something in Honolulu. Are we able to return to and board the ship anytime we like?

Hoping someone here knows so I can save an international phone call to find out!
