  1. ;)

I have searched around here and it seems to be fairly consistent that you can take the 250-minute Internet that you can take as a perk when you book your cruise and upgrade it to an unlimited plan on the ship, by paying the difference in what the 250-minute plan is worth and what the unlimited plan costs.

What I can't tell is if this has to be done at the Internet desk. I remember reading one account from 2018 when someone said they were able to upgrade it when they logged into their account for the first time, but I may be hallucinating that.

Does anyone know what the deal is? Do I have to go to the Internet desk to make the change (and pay the difference with my OBC), or can I do it online when I log in the first time? I just don't want to wait in line if I don't have to.

This is for the Getaway, if it matters.

There's a thread here https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2670485 with some more information

  2. I don't think any one is going to sue her. It's not worth the money or the effort. I'm not even sure what the jurisdiction would be ... Croatia? An international tribune? Maybe a fellow Brit could sue her on British soil, if the UK allows damages for things that happen in another country. No American will sue because you don't automatically get reimbursed for your lawyer or court fees, and those will easily be more than the chance of recovery for compensation for what you actually lost. I guess the English rule is that the winner can collect attorney's fees from the loser, but again, who has jurisdiction? Will someone travel to Italy or Croatia or whoever has jurisdiction to file the suit?

She's domiciled in Spain so any action would be taken there. With the globalization of business and trade there are no rules to stop you suing someone for money that you've lost as a result of their actions regardless of where the loss took place.

I agree that an individual action would probably be fruitless, costly and time consuming and based on her job and the pictures of where she lives its unlikely that she would be able to pay anyone back any money.

It would be interesting though if enough passengers mounted a "class" action against her - I sure there are lawyers in Spain that would take this on a no win no fee basis - the hard part is bringing enough people together.

Im surprised NCL aren't taking some form of action too especially as they sail from Spanish ports.

Have to say though I do feel the pain of and have sympathy with those who are several $$$'s out of pocket as a result of her stupid actions.

  3. I dont have any information specifically about a transatlantic cruise however we were on Breakaway in the Baltics when the temperatures were in the high 80's and the roof over the Haven stayed shut.

Its completely glass though so even though its closed the pool area is very well lit with natural light.

There is a separate outdoor sun deck for Haven guests only so if you wanted to sit out you could go there?

Or the main pool is uncovered??

  4. What's with this radio long wave wireless stuff anyway - internet is that some kind of phfishing net ?

    Brilliant!!!

And against the total cost of your cruise I wouldn't stress the $300 - just assume it was always a part of the cruise cost - then you wont be stressed on your vacation about whether the minutes are going to run out.

  5. I do always worry about stories in the tabloid newspapers - however if what the Mail is reporting is true then:

If I was out of pocket I would still be wanting recompense from her - if that means she is ultimately made bankrupt then so be it. Why should people who have lost money as a result of her actions just have to do nothing and suffer the consequence.

She should be banned from every cruise line (and ferry line) to prevent this from ever happening again

Do her employers really want someone who is supposed to be "responsible for your safety" (as airline pilots are always telling us) doing the job of flight attendant? If she is capable of jumping off a ship on purpose then what else is she capable of? There was a huge inquest about the German pilot who crashed a plane and his mental state at the time. So whether she has issues or was blind drunk I would not want her on my plane!!

Of course we are all glad that no life was lost - but that does not excuse her actions - so she should face the consequences of those actions

  6. When you have the unlimited package can that be used on more then one device?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Yes - but not at the same time!! Which is a bit of a pain as you have to remember to log out of the first one before you log into the 2nd and so on. I don't see why it needs to work this way and I did query it with the internet café but they just said that's the way it is

  7. This might be a dumb question but on the 250 min internet package perk, does it keep track of the minutes you use? How do you know when the 250 is up? Does it just not let you connect anymore?

I cannot answer your specific question - however on the unlimited package I upgraded to it had a countdown clock in days, hours and minutes showing when the package was going to expire - which was check out time on the final day when we docked

  8. Still apparently doing the air hostess bit (for now anyway) but not with Virgin - doing it on small business jets according to reports.

Ah yes - sorry - I did see pictures of her doing the private business jet hostess role.

Also agree that we may never see the footage but there will be some form of enquiry and I agree that NCL will want to demonstrate no negligence on their part - so probably a statement detailing what happened.

Interesting too that the lady has declined to make any statement - that comes across as "weird"? Watch that space I guess

  9. There's a great deal of talk on these boards about disembarkation from ships, times to airports, making flights and so on.

Aside from the cost of the ship turning and the coastguard effecting her rescue, who picks up the cost if passengers missed flights or other travel connections as a result of the "fall" (and let's be honest it seems unlikely she was pushed so either jumped on purpose or was fooling around).

And then what about the passengers on the next departing cruise - their holiday had also been messed around and plans for boarding had to change and costs would have been incurred for meals or changed transport!

I suppose many will have insurance companies to deal with many of these issues - however if insurance didn't cover my expenses or if I was actually the insurance company I would be pursuing this woman for recompense.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

And yes, I'm glad no-one died, of course.

  10. "Weird" as in inedible, or in food choices? We travel with my special needs adult daughter, who is very picky about her food. The other 3 of us can make do with anything!

It was edible - but, and sorry to say this again - "weird". I am pretty adventurous with food so will always try things and it wasn't bad or horrible in any way - but not the kind of "Russian" lunch I was expecting - which day 2 was - that featured a Russian salad, Bortsch Soup and a piece of pork with potatoes and an orange cake.

Day One was a slice of tomato with a cheese and potato salad on top and then a vegetable soup, then a turkey breast with rice and cold pancakes (crepes) with apple sauce :o

It was all edible but somewhat strange!

However - just to let you know - by this time in the cruise you have been eating for 5 days so you definitely wont starve - hahaha!

  11. . I just hope the rest of whoever is in our group knows to try to get group A! Quick question: how were the lunches with BestGuides? I got the impression they were included (paid for) with the purchase of the excursion. Is this true, or did you have to pay extra for your lunches? Just want to be prepared for our family of 4.

Yes, lunches on both days are included - we had one at a restaurant near Peterhof and the 2nd in the city. The first one was a little "weird" but the 2nd was very nice

And yes - as above - Best Guides know the immigration times and process so don't worry, they have plenty of representatives in the terminal building and I even read in another review that they got a taxi for someone who was "horribly" delayed and caught up with the group

  12. Just done this on the Breakaway

Book with guest services or at the box office as soon as you can as it gets booked up - ours was on the 3rd day of the cruise when we were at sea.

Groups of families play together so I guess unless you are more than 10 you shouldn't be split. We are only 2 and played in a group of 10

  13. was the location of this hotel good for walking everywhere - the walking tour, Tivoli Gardens, and canal ride? I'm doing 2 days pre-cruise and want to stay somewhere central, where we can mainly walk. Although no AC is NOT an option for me, so if I have to stay further away for AC I will. But I'm wondering if this was good location wise.

We stayed at the Radisson Royal -its next to the Tivoli and stop 1 of the HoHo - definitely has super-blasty A/C - and a fab breakfast:p

  14. Yes, we did and were expecting maybe upper 70s...to be fair we are NOT used to humidity (being in Nor CA which is perpetually on fire due to lack of humidity). I can’t say it was any worse than Boston in the summer, but I suffer there too! For us it added probably 15 degrees of discomfort! And it really never rained so no relief from that

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

It was unseasonably warm - but given the choice I was glad it was warm rather than raining. There were some big storms a few weeks previously and I thought it was going to be a cruise of thunderstorms.

A/C isn't that common in the Baltic area as its not usually needed - so if its a must for people in hotels then its best to check
