  1. It appears as if you have sailed on Princess or Carnival where the passengers love to wear their cards on a lanyard with all the badges and pins showing off how many times they cruised and status.

As others have stated it just shows what category you are in and I think it is more for showing the workers that you get the perks in that category such as the Persian Gardens, dining room assignment, tender priorities and etc.

I never look at others cards but I am sure many do as they will ask what my color is for and that usually indicates that they have sailed on cruise lines where the color is "important".

Some think the cabin category is important because I have seen many sitting at a bar with the card facing the server as if the color means something while tapping the bar with it. Many BTs have told me how they really despise passengers doing that and will try to avoid them as long as possible.

Actually, I started using a lanyard a few cruises ago as I rarely had a pocket for the card and, if I did , I would often demagnetize the card with my phone. The lanyard was a solution. But on this last cruise I felt kind of show-offish or something with that gold card hanging there for everyone to see.

My experience on Royal Caribbean has been that all cards are created equal except for suite passengers. Maybe Pinnacles have a different color - don't know. But at any rate Royal prints the loyalty level in the card as does Celebrity.

  2. Stupid question and I searched but can't find an answer: Do suites, aqua, concierge and other staterooms all have different color seapasses? I ask because on our last cruise, my gold concierge class seapass seemed kind of "showy" and I'm wondering if aqua is different, suites, etc?

    Thanks,

    Linda

  3. Although a specific table may have the same number at different times, I would take it with a grain of salt that a table number would stay the same over a number of years. That almost NEVER happens. We've been on several B2B cruises when the table numbers were totally different on cruises a day apart. Why do you think that the people who seat you on the first couple of days always have to use a seating chart?

Yes, of course. When I made the request, I requested that table number, but stressed that what I really wanted was one of the two tops next to the wine tower. In this case, the table number was the same.

  4. I was on the the Equinox last week. Our table for two was, without exaggeration, 6 inches from the table for two next to us. We all lucked out and the four or us thoroughly enjoyed the each other's company. However, a private conversation with my spousal unit would have been completely out of the question.

Yup, that's why I requested that table ahead of time and kept my fingers crossed that it was one of the ones around the wine tower. We're REALLY glad that it worked out so well, but aren't sure we will be that lucky next time. Don't mind meeting other people, but it's not a nice private dinner experience.

Considering Aqua/Blu for our next cruise - just not sure that the menus will be right for us.

  5. I always try and leave Naples no later than 2:00 so I can miss the traffic coming back here to Brickell. If you leave earlier, you will have a much easier time.

The 595 Express lanes will be open heading east until 1 pm. If you don't mind paying the small toll it makes it very easy to get onto the Turnpike heading south as it dumps you right on.

I'll be doing the drive again on Tuesday myself, but from Brickell to Naples.

Our plan is to leave the Clearwater area around 9am or so. With some luck, this rain and wind will pass so the Sunshine Skyway will be open which will help time-wise. We will. Take your suggestions and thanks !

  6. Sorry - but another question. The directions I have to the Hampton Inn and Suites in Brickell all say to exit 95 at 1B and turn onto SW8th. BUT, the maps look like there is no southbound exit 1B, just northbound. Am I missing something major here? Or am I possibly making too much of this? I just don't want to start our vacation with "driving hatred" if you get my drift lol. Thanks so much in advance.

  7. Capt_BJ, thanks for the quick reply. We will have our own car and I might just buy a Sunpass transponder anyway as we can use it in our area and also crossing on 75. Got any helpful advice about an "easy" way to get to the Hampton Inn and Suites in Brickell or that area (still can't decide if we want that or the Intercontinental) from 836?? Again, many thanks.

  8. Somewhere I remember reading that there's a better way from 75 that would avoid 95 to Miami? If so, could someone enlighten me? We'll be driving down on the Thursday before Memorial Day Weekend, so would like to stay away from the craziness at least a bit. Thanks very much!

  9. Norris , thank you so much for both your great reviews and taking the time and effort to scan and post those great photos and the old brochure ! I had saved dog-eared brochures beginning with our first cruise on the Cunard Princess - but had to throw all of them out when we downsized. Loved the Song of Norway, Nordic Prince (our first cruise longer than 7 days) and the Song of America ! What a great VCL on that ship overlooking the pool! Thanks again for rekindling those great memories!!!
