Bermuda is our favorite island, I second choosing the cruise that keeps you there the longest. Summit is an excellent choice!

Great review, thank you! Cant wait to see all the food pics!! We sail on Tuesday:D

The butler's tip is included in the automatic tips unlike NCL where the butler is not included. We tipped beyond that for special service.
Ok, I see now that we paid $15.50 per person per day vs the $12 for a regular cabin. So that difference goes to the butler?

We were 14 nights in an S1 on Eclipse (2/8 - 2/22) and had our 1st butler. It was one of the best experiences ever and going back to a standard veranda is going to be very tough. The butler spoiled us rotten and we really adored him. Room service coffee every morning - and he insisted that he pour, full breakfast many days - all these on white table clothes.
Need to deliver something to another cabin - the butler. Order flowers - he goes to get them. Afternoon canapés - we asked for a small cheese and cracker plater instead and that is always what we got - but along with shrimp cocktail, cookies, cakes - we finally had to tell him "no more food". Husband struggling with the bow tie - call Manuel.
Then I got sick on day 8 with a chest infection and this wonderful man brought me hot tea and honey - he was so concerned. He met us in the evenings of the formal nights to walk us to the reserved seating - and told us how much fun it was for HIM.
We tipped him exceptionally well - because he deserved it. A true professional. If you are lucky enough to have a butler - enjoy it!!!
Wow, he sounds truly exceptional! Full breakfast & afternoon tea sounds wonderful.
If we are fortunate enough to have someone like him I have no doubt we will want to compensate him as generously as we can. Thank you for the info!

We have prepaid our gratuities for our Jan 2015 sailing on Constellation. I understand the sky suite has a butler in addition to the steward. My question is, what additional tipping is required for the butler? Is it a per day per person tip or did you base it on how often you used him? Just curious, we have been fortunate enough to have a few suites here & there in our cruise history but never one that included a butler!

OP congratulations on earning Diamond level for your loyalty to Royal!!
We have been on a lot of cruises but have tried so many different lines that we are middle of the pack at best as far as our loyalty status is concerned.
My parents are Diamond with Royal, so Elite with X as well. They RAVE about the lounge, internet time and so many other perks that we have decided to commit to Royal until we get to Diamond, why not? Their ships are fantastic!!
Having tried 5 or 6 other mainstream lines, we can truly say that there are more similarities than differences between ALL of the lines.
(Don't really know what one particular poster is talking about other than trying to ruin someone else's joy....)

Any breakfast I have on a cruise ship is the best!!
I love to start with a small room service order of coffee, juice and a few bites of something, maybe pastry +/or fruit. Followed by a trip to the MDR for more coffee, eggs benedict or French toast w/ sausage, YUMM!
(If we have a balcony then I like a full room service breakfast if the menu allows)

Samana is still on our 3/11 sailing..

Our family cruised on Song of America in 1997 & 1998 to Bermuda. Loved the ship as it docked right at St. George (1day) and Hamilton (2 days) before returning to NY.
YES!! Those were the days, huh?
-
My first cruise with DH was in '97 on Song of America to Bermuda!!
Then '98 & '99 to Bermuda on the gorgeous Nordic Empress. Hooked on cruising and Bermuda ever since.

Nice review! We are sailing on The Explorer in March, a bit nervous, we are Celebrity and Princess cruisers. My question is about MTD and a table for 2. Are the tables really close together so you may as well be seated with others? We definitely don't want that. Thanks!
Marguerite
We are on the same sailing!!:D
Thanks Teddie, for such a great review!
-
Many thanks for the quick review!
We just chose this ship for Jan 2015, may I ask what you thought of your cabin and what type it was?
-
What a great job you did on this review!!
I started reading last night and just now finished. I enjoyed it so very much, thank you thank you:D
We will be visiting St T and St M on our next cruise. We have been to both before and we are determined to find something to do that we will be excited about. If I recall, we did the bus type tours in both of these ports years ago and now when we think of either port it is very underwhelming. My goal is to change that on our upcoming trip!! LOL

Gailjen, just watched a bunch of your videos on you tube, really enjoyed them, thanks! We have cove 2334 booked, very excited!
-
Looks great! Thanks for posting that!
Delta Dear, I got the same message, so I just went to you tube & searched Carnival Breeze cove Balcony & then watched the video from there.
There is another good one there also, of the Breeze cove balcony.
-
thanx for the quick reply! I'm still digging around but the rates are sooo attractive on this sailing, hard to resist.:)
looking forward to reports from the early cruisers!
Boooooook it! You know you want to:D
If tons of positive reviews start flooding in, the price could start creeping up as bookings increase, food for thought...
-
your signatures caught my 'disney' eye;). we were going to book the January 3 night DCL members cruise but DH can't get the last day off work:(. Plan B is to pick one from 5 cruises I've narrowed down, one being the Breeze you're booked upon. I was hoping to find something out of Port Canaveral (no half moon cay stop for our dates:eek:) figure we'll forego combining the parks with a cruise that trip (wah lol)
anyway, just curious how you (or anybody else booked on the Breeze 6 night out of MIA) feel about the 3 sea days on the itinerary. We like port days and even with more bells and whistles on new ship not sure how we'll feel about the 3rd sea day (i'm not a spa sorta gal and afraid the extra time on my hands will draw me to the casino more).
imo less than $15 for 7 days' worth of this sort of special movies is great, but i hope it's not unlimited or people might just plant it for hours...wonder if you have to 'reserve' or can tix for a specific show.
Hey, yep, huge WDW fan here:p If I had to chose between a cruise or my annual BELOVED WDW trip, Disney would win!
We purposely chose this cruise for the 3 sea days! BECAUSE of it being a new ship with so much to experience & enjoy, we are excited for the sea days!!
I have my budget for the casino and when it is gone it is gone:(
I do imagine they will have some sort of system in place to keep folks form monopolizing the thrill theatre, I hope!
Enjoy whatever you chose, but I don't think you could go wrong with the Breeze cruise!
-
Wasn't it 5-D or am I wrong?
Oops!! 5-D
-
What about the 3D theater.
How often are the shows?
Are there different shows?
Is it included in the cruise price?
It is supposedly more than 3-D, as in 4-D, with movement and possibly other sensory treats:p. I'm thinking it will be similar to Disneys Philharmagic &/or Star tours, with the occasional squirt of water, smells, puffs of air and of course movement to coincide with the movie.
Carnivals website says Happy Feet 4D, Speed Racer 4D and for the holidays, Polar Express 4D.
I don't know how often the shows will be, but I am certain there will be an extra charge
-
Ahh good point. That flight back would suck....
Maybe the boredom will inspire them to write their reviews on the plane!! Write people, WRIIIIITE!!:D LOL
-
I am sailing on July 21. I am beyond excited. Does anyone know how many formal nights on that sailing?
I believe the 8 night as well as the 6 night will have 2 formal nights.
-
And the prices aren't that bad either.
I saw a two second glimpse of the sushi in the beginning of the following video, and it looks pretty decent! The price is very reasonable if it is good..
