  1. I would like to - I do particularly like my own pillow - but as we are flying in this year, it is possibly not viable. However next year we are driving so....

Get a window seat on the plane. Just think how comfy you would be with your pillow against the window[emoji6]

  2. I was just debating whether I should bring my own "My Pillow" on our next cruise......hmmm?

I see the adds all the time. Are they really that good? I like my feather pillow and the room steward is usually able to find me a small feather pillow for a small bribe (er I mean tip[emoji6]).

  3. Yeah, in Hawaii, we had to make the Walmart run to buy them out of TP a few times. You know who is first to go on TP rationing!

I seem to end up posting on all the toilet threads.

We were on a multi B2B starting in San Diego and ultimately ending in the Baltics. When they finally had purchased enough TP, we hid some in our cabin and didn't have to go back to using their cheap stuff for the rest of the cruise. I wonder if the crew also hoarded some.

  4. Having just said that toilet wipes should not be flushed down the toilet, I will bust the urban legend about the "provided" toilet paper. There is nothing special about the toilet paper the cruise line supplies, other than it is cheap, and they got a good deal on bulk quantities. There is nothing at all wrong with bringing your own TP if you so desire. I have worked with vacuum toilet systems for over 30 years, and have never had to clear a clog caused by a "wrong" or "different" toilet paper.

We were on a ship that missed it's shipment of TP and they bought regular "two ply" at every port until they got the next shipment. It made for a nice cruise;)

  5. One reason that people don't get upgraded might be that the ship is sailing full! Can't move you to a cabin that's already occupied.

Sorry, doesn't fly. I have seen lower level C&A in the category cabin as I had get upgraded. It's all here on CC, you just have to open your eyes. BTW, we are PC and have never been upgraded. Ever. In spite of what Millie says, Revenue gets almost all of the upgrades first. And they have no problem upgrading a first time cruiser.

  6. On our longest cruise the DW and I both looked at each other on day 70 and said maybe it was time to go home. 5 days later we did (but only for 5 days then we flew to a 20 day). However we started years ago with 3 day cruises so I can't really say if you should start with a TA. I can only say that there is plenty to do onboard. You will never know until you try and no one here can give you an answer to a question like that.

  7. A smart traveler ALWAYS takes their passport anytime you step off the ship in a foreign country. Ya'll can go on and on about what if you lose it while ashore. Or ship's personnel will take it out of your safe and do what with it? Find you at the next port after three days at sea?

If I'm ill, stranded or mugged in Columbia I want my passport with ME, not back on the ship enroute to China.

Actually, it is turned over to the port agent.

  8. We usually sail Royal and they usually sell local currency at the front desk at a not to horrible exchange rate. This trip, however, we are on Princess. Does anyone happen to know if they will sell us pesos? I hate to order a small amount from our bank due to set shipping fees. And NO, I don't use ATM's other than those belonging to my bank due to fees and security so that is not an option. I will be bringing credit cards with no exchange fees for larger purchases.

Off topic, does anyone know if Los Osuna is still sold at the port or do I need to go to the distillery?

  9. So, just curious....how many of the TA cruisers are going on the "mini cruises" and how many of you will be on the 11/12 sailing? I know Emmy is!

I'm SO excited to be sailing in ten days....can't even imagine what you've all experienced (and some may be staying onboard for more fun)!

Quite a few of us are dragging our bags over to Freedom. Caribbean and cheaper.

  10. Thank you so much for that. On the Allure Sorrento's was open late. 24 hours if I remember correctly. Is that an option on the Harmony?

Oh please no. I've gained enough weight already and we still have the Freedom and besides that pizza is so yummy. Even better for breakfast fresh out of the mini-bar (OK, I know that's pretty much an American thing and I probably just grossed out our European friends). So if it is open all night, I'm not listening and have my fingers solidly in my ears. Please just tell me it's not.

  11. Can someone compare the MDR to Coastal Kitchen? My son is an executive chef and first time cruiser. I'd just like to compare food quality and ambiance so that he can have the best dining experience. Booked chefs table also. Love this thread. Thank you!

You really have to compare menus each night. Sometimes one is better, sometimes the other.

  12. We were able to set a wake up call. You drag the time up or down as you need to. We have used it twice.

You have to be 12 to sign up I signed up online and it asked my birth year.

Also, there are 2 hooks on the shower wall just below the H &C levers. I did not see them at first. But great to hang bathing suits. I still miss the line.

Sorry to quote a pic, but the comment would not be clear without it.

After I posted I started wonder if it might work like that. Would have been nice if the front desk had explained but I guess that they are short on time and used to old people.
