That excursion is both weather and operator dependent.  If windy, as it often is, the tour cannot be safely operated.  Probably cancelled for that reason.

To actually reach a glacier the Juneau city bus takes you to Mendenhall where an hour hike - strenuous - gets you up to the foot of the glacier.

Best easy glacier walk is just North of Seward.  Exit Glacier is a short drive north of town.  Easy hike and usually not crowded.

As for Skagway - as I said driving you get to see everything from Carcross to Dyea to all of Skagway.  Just rent early.  Only a few cars.  We used Sourdough Rental a few years ago.

    Thank you.

  2. Are they still doing the excursion up the Endicott Arm to the Glacier? We booked that excursion for a September cruise but about 3 or 4 weeks after we booked it they canceled it. We assumed that they are no longer doing it for some reason??

While the ship will cruise up Endicott Arm with the naturalist providing narration there is an optimal excursion which I described in my prior post (#3).  There are very limited spaces, and this excursion generally sells out prior to the actual cruise.  We have both remained on the cruise ship and also have taken the small boat excursion which approaches Dawes much closer than the ship can navigate through the fairly narrow channel which has numerous ice bergs.  After visiting Dawes the cruise ship will head to Juneau but will not visit Fords Terror (this small narrow fjord is named after a person who had to deal with tidal conditions, hence the "terror").  After the small (two level) boat visits Fords Terror it then heads to Juneau.  The cruise ship is too large to navigate Fords Terror.  You don't do an excursion actually to Dawes itself (ie, no walking on this massive glacier), but the small boat experience will take you closer to the glacier face, which will be actively calving (or at least it has every time we have visited).  The calving will also be visible from the cruise ship.  Hope this is clear.

I pre-purchased the class for one, then decided to purchase it for my cabin mate as well. Yesterday I cancelled those purchases (at $120 each) in favor of booking the class for two (at $220, a savings of $20). When booking the class for two guests I checked both my name and my cabin mate’s name, because after all - the class was for two. But when I did that, the price changed to $440. So I ended up just checking my name and paying the $220.  Is this what others have experienced in the Cruise Planner?

We had the same problem so we contacted Celebrity. They told us that you only put one person's name on because "guest" is already on there. I know you have probably already figured that out but this may help someone in the future.

I just learned yesterday that in the state of Ohio, local libraries should have a stock of the BinaxNow test kits available for free.  I assume what is in stock is the December expiration kits, but they include the proctoring information so they should be able to be used for cruising.  Just walk in and ask for them.

Thank you for the info. We ran over to the library and picked ours up. I would just like to add one correction (at least for the Hilliard OH branch). They want you to drive up and call a number that is listed on a board they have. We just walked in and I asked the librarian behind the desk if they had any Covid tests. I never saw anyone jump back so fast in my life haha. I told her we just needed them for travel. She was very nice, but I think I scared her.

Plan for rapid test on Friday or do the eMed BinaxNow. That is at home and done via video on your computer. The people are probably in India that certify it. You can do it on Thanksgiving that way.

I am hoping J&J's booster gets approved. Since they have not approved mixing of vaccines here yet, I can only wait for J&J booster or approval to mix vaccines.

Thank you for letting me know about eMed BinaxNow. I haven't heard about that one. I will look into it.

  7. I'm hoping they will let us know whether or not they are going to allow an extra day in November for testing. We are sailing on the Glory and the three day limit for our testing includes Thanksgiving Day. I'm hoping they will extend the 72 hour limit since it will be next to impossible to get tested on Thanksgiving day.

  8. We booked a cruise after our January cruise was cancelled but we forgot to use the link that they sent asking which method you preferred, future cruise credit or refund. So we went in and filled out that form saying we wanted future cruise credit. Do we need to do anything in order to apply the future cruise credit to the sailing that we just booked?

  9. I was hoping to get clearer information from the CDC today on whether or not they are going to allow cruising to resume. It looks like that is not going to happen. We have a 14 day cruise scheduled for January. I honestly don't think it will go, even if cruising on some form resumes, but its only a guess. We booked with an early saver plan. Our final payment is due in a little over a week. If we go ahead and pay it in full but then decide we are not comfortable going, will Carnival let us move it (including the deposit) to another cruise? I'm thinking that I read somewhere that we will be able to move it but have to pay another deposit and will lose the deposit on this one?? We don't want to move it yet because if Carnival cancels than we will receive the on board credit. To gamble or not to gamble, that is the question! (Unless they will let us move it without penalty.) If it makes any difference, we did book it preCovid.

  10. I understand what you went through because we are in the same situation. We have a January cruise scheduled and our final payment is due in October. I am afraid that they will cancel for the rest of this year but begin sailing at the beginning of 2021. A lot of people are saying they don't see that happening but if they are wrong, we would be on one of the first ships going back out. It is a journeys cruise so I really think that it will be canceled but who knows? We have discussed the option of moving it to another date late in 2021. It is like playing a really weird gambling game!! We still haven't decided what to do. I'm glad that you were able to make a decision and hope you have a wonderful time on your trip when it happens.

  11. We are scheduled to sail out of Baltimore on the Pride in January. Our final payment is due in October. I know that no decisions have been made as of yet as to when Carnival is going to start sailing again but I am afraid that they will end up cancelling until the beginning of the year. I'm not sure how I feel about being on one of the first ships to go out. I was thinking of calling Carnival to see if we could delay our final payment until December (30 days before sailing rather than 90) which will give us a little more time to see what is going on and how we feel about things. Has anyone ever asked for a delay in the final payment? I thought that I had read that they were doing that but now can't find where I read that so don't know if it was Carnival or some other line.

  12. I just read an article that said as of March 16, the shipwreck has been removed from Governor's Beach. How does everyone feel about that? I think it's kind of sad. It was a pretty rusty hunk of metal but it was kind of cool seeing it there. The last time we were there we watched a girl and guy climb up onto it and explore a little bit. I would never do that. It looked pretty dangerous, but they survived. I'm going to miss seeing it there.

  13. We have never missed the ship but saw something rather amusing once. We were scheduled to leave Nassau at 4:30 I believe. 5:00 came and we were still there. We had a balcony room in the forward part of the ship and we could see the Captain pacing back and forth. He did not look happy. The guys with the walkie talkies were down by the ramps talking back and forth. We assumed that they were waiting for someone who hadn't made it back. Almost an hour after we were suppose to have left a van pulls up to the ramp and a couple of guys get out with clothes in plastic bags. Crew members uniforms maybe?? They never told us but apparently it was something they had to wait for! They handed them off to the guys with the walkie talkies, the ramps were pulled up and we left. So people didn't miss the cruise--but laundry almost did!!

I've done it twice and recording the event makes it really worth while. The amount of gifts they receive is pretty plentiful in my opinion. I fell in love with the tea and now enjoy it at home. The choices are much better now food wise and tea wise. Some of the food items they retrieve from Palo...like the desserts. it doesn't fill up too fast but again, it's all depends on the interest level.

Thank you. I think it sounds like a fun thing to do with my granddaughter. I appreciate the information.

  15. I am thinking of booking the Royal Court Royal Tea event with my Granddaughter.  Has anyone done that? I am wondering if it is worth the cost. What type of food do they serve? Is it usually in between lunch and dinner? Andy details that you could provide would be very helpful. This is our first Disney cruise so our booking window doesn't open up as fast as others. I am also wondering how fast it fills up.

  16. What, if any, differences are there between the Vista and the Horizon. I thought they were both the same but was looking and it looks like only the Vista has the Kaleidoscope slide? Does anyone know if there are any differences? I'm not really meaning things like the color themes, just things that are distinctly different. We are trying to choose between the two and am wondering which would be better.
