  1. You are correct - I was on the second segment of the Grand South America, but cannot change to 2023 since I will be on the World Cruise. That cruise is now on the Zuiderdam. My head is spinning!
  2. The Grand South America cruises are all moved to 2023, and the ship has changed from Volendam to Zuiderdam. I was on the Buenos Aires to Fort Lauderdale leg. Just to muddy the water - I am on the 2023 World Cruise, and it is also changed to Zuiderdam. We are all supposed to have new cabin assignments by 9/30/2021.
  3. It isn't like walking into a hotel - the gangplank is most always slanted downward, sometimes more than others. But, the gangplank has small metal strips that help you keep your balance, also hand rails on each side. The crew will assist you if you are uncertain about your footing. Using the tenders is a little more iffy, but the crew is stationed on each side of the tender door and will let you know exactly which foot to use & where to place it.
  4. Thanks so much for your reply!!
  5. First cruise on Carnival for 10+ years. Taking my daughter on a 7 day Bahamas cruise in January, 2022 - wondered if robes are furnished in the staterooms, or can I request them from the room steward? Looking forward to a great mother/daughter getaway. Thanks for any replies.
  6. When you are in the library - you are not in a bar having a drink or two.........just sayin!
  7. You could also check with your local Health Department.
  8. I am on a cruise that requires passengers returning to the US to have a Covid test prior to entering the country. Anyone know if the cruise lines are providing this on the ship?
  9. Several years ago we lived in St. Thomas for 6 month. I can definitely see both sides of that coin. The local paper published a short column of which ships were in for the day, also the # of passengers.
  10. I have emergency evacuation insurance ($45 per month) from anywhere in the world to my home town.
  11. I loved Maasdam - went to Easter Island; Australia & South Pacific Islands, scheduled for Alaska (sold out from under me) one of my favorite ships. Did one on Prinsendam and loved it. Done 2 on Zaandam - will sail on the "little ships" as long as they keep them.
  12. A more comprehensive article in the WSJ yesterday 5/19 with more detail of vaccine & testing requirements of most of EU, British, other European countries. I didn't read any requirements re. type of tours (ship, non-ship, personal). Mostly upbeat, I thought!
  13. There are countries that are not yet allowing non-citizens to enter them.
  14. Are the self-serve laundries not on the long itinerary (world, Grand) ships - Zaandam and Volendam any more?
  15. Tuesday 3/23/2021 front page headline of the WSJ. "Cruise Lines Fear Another Lost Season" . Not much good news - "The CDC says guidance is coming soon. Future orders and Technical instructions will address additional activities to help cruise lines prepare for and return to passenger operations in a manner that mitigates Covid-a9 risk among passengers, crew members" spokesman Jason McDonald said, declining to comment further. No response from the White House. So even when the 40 pages of the rules that are already required, looks like they might give another set of rules that will be impossible to achieve, (my opinion).) Much longer article - try to find & read it. Not much positive news.
  16. I was also on that cruise - best one I have ever been on. Sadly, they have not been able to even come close since.
  17. Don't the Seattle cruises stop in Victoria?
  18. "They" as in the Canadian officials was my intent.
  19. Article in this weekend's WSJ by Michael Taube. 1st 2 sentences: "If you're impatient with the pace of Covid-19 vaccine distribution in the US, count your blessings. At least you don't live in Canada. " Goes on to explain several issues with ordering, distribution, etc. Get a copy or look it up. Might be part of the reason they are blocking cruises to Canada.
  20. I miss the HalCats - never heard BB King, but Blues/Jazz isn't my favorite......
  21. Exotic cruise in 2019 (I think), waiting for it to repeat. I saw a cruise in the South Pacific which featured all of the battles of WW2. I read about it when it was almost over, but have looked for this itinerary ever since. Anyone have any information about it???
  22. I have a relative who worked about 45+ years in government, mostly classified positions. His opinion on elected positions was that their job was to be reelected, never mind what was best for the country or anything else.
