  1. I am wondering does anyone have the phone number for the Miami local taxi. I need to drop of our rental car to Budget. I will need a taxi to the port. I hope to call and hope to not stand at the rental center for a long time. Any advice?

    Thanks

If you're dropping it at the airport they have free shuttle service to the port. Be sure to keep your paperwork, they will ask to see it.

  2. I don't think this issue is confined to the Conquest. I have complained about cabin temperatures that are way too warm for us for two years now. I finally gave up and no longer cruise Carnival because of it.

  3. We have booked an airport transfer for DH as he will be dropping off the rental car at the airport and then picking one up after the cruise. We have now received 2 emails from Carnival asking us to purchase airport transfers but highlighting the words that there is no guarantee that we will be picked up if we do not provide our airline information. When I first called Carnival, they said that it was due to our having put incorrect airline info in (we are flying into one airport, driving to pick up a family member and then driving on to the airport closest to the cruise departure). I will be calling Carnival again today as we received another of their emails last night. It seemed the best choice as taxi rates were much higher than the transfers and even our TA thought it was a good idea. Has anyone ever had to do this? Were there any problems?

Miami has rental car shuttles that run between the airport and port. We've used them several times and they are quicker and run more often than Carnival's transfer.Just be sure to save your rental car papers, they will ask to see it.

  4. From Carnivals FAQ page.

Guests Under the Age of 21 MUST travel with a relative or guardian of 25 years of age or older

    - The guardian does not need to be a legal guardian

    - The bookings must be cross-referenced with the guardian’s stateroom and documented properly

    Guests 12 and younger

    - If the relative or guardian insist on booking separate staterooms, minors must either be directly across the hall or next door. Guests 12 and under may not be assigned to a balcony cabin without a relative/guardian.

    Guests 13 - 17 years of age

    - Can be booked up to 3 staterooms away from their relative or guardian.

    Guests 18 – 20 years of age

    - Do not have any restrictions and may book whatever location they prefer.

  5. This will be our first cruise. We will be in Miami for a couple of days before we depart, but will be at the Miami airport returning our rental car that morning. Would it be worth it to do the Carnival check in while we're at the airport or should we just catch a taxi and go straight to the port and check in there? We have FTTF if that matters.

    Thanks!

The airport check in is at luggage pick up, so by the time you catch the shuttle, check in and catch a taxi to the port you could already be at the port. I would go straight to the port since you have FTTF.

  6. Any time before final payment. I do it every cruise I take.

We usually book our own and then transfer it to a TA so we can use CC points. Carnival has always told us 14 days. We once slipped up and let the 14 days pass and they would not transfer it.

When did it change, I haven't checked recently just automatically transfer it within 14 days if using points.

  7. Was there March 2 with about 9000 ppl...we took a taxi to secret harbor...beautiful beach, uncrowned, $10 per chair has a bar and resturant (tuna wonton nachos, AMAZING!!) we arrived back to port around 4pm didn't seem to be unbearable with crowds....a couple we met when to sapphire beach, they didn't complain about crowds :)

Sapphire Beach is our go to place in St Thomas. Never crowded and great snorkeling from the beach. You can rent chairs and umbrellas and around lunch someone comes around and you can order lunch.

  8. Hello,

I am wondering if anyone can give me any advice. I am about to go on my 7th cruise (4th carnival cruise) and experienced a problem yesterday that I have never encountered before.

Normally I use a local Travel Agent or book myself online, but last July, the website was having problems so I called and booked through a Carnival Travel agent. I put our deposit down, and the agent said that the remainder would automatically be billed when it was due in November.

In November I received an email from Carnival that said, "Booking confirmation" and "welcome aboard". I misunderstood that down at the bottom, it was telling me to to pay. I assumed it was a receipt and confirmation that my final payment went through. I never heard anything else.

My husband and I surprised our kids with the cruise, so on Christmas day, I was trying to show them our booking info. The site just kept saying error. I assumed their website was having problems.

Finally, last night I thought it odd I hadn't heard anything from Carnival. I called and they told me my booking was canceled for non payment and they kept the almost $1,300 deposit. After a lot of work, she did get me re-booked on the ship, but we lost our nice rooms and we are in complete opposite ends/floors of the ship. We don't have our dining time anymore, and I had to pay a lot of money for interior rooms (almost the same price as our ocean view room).

I'm not saying that this is all Carnvial's fault. I do have a lot of the blame myself because I should have been more involved. Normally I check my credit cards, but the past few months I haven't, so I didn't notice we hadn't been fully charged.

I feel like one of the advantages of booking with the cruise line or any agent, is that they can keep you apprised of things better. I was surprised to learn that they don't send you out emails saying your booking is canceled or about to be canceled or that they are keeping your deposit. The agent I worked with never called me or let me know that my booking was going to be canceled for non payment. Or that I wasn't (when I was supposed to be) set up on automatic payments. The one email they did send me looked like everything was normal and fine.

I get promotional emails from them every day. I just think a little more contact would be good.

To say I'm devastated is an understatement. I've just never experienced anything like this before and I still can't believe it happened. Guest relations is checking to see if they can get our rooms a little closer together, but they aren't hopeful because the cruise is so soon.

Does anyone have any advice for me? Has anyone experienced this before? Should I try to push for an interior room rate from the time that I booked? (I have some screen prints and a family member who booked also). If they can't get our rooms closer, is there anything else I should try?

(I already know all the things I should have done in the beginning. I know I made mistakes also. I would change everything if I could go back in time. I am just wanting to take some of the sting our of this situation and still try to make the best of this expensive vacation. I just feel like it's been tainted.)

    TIA,

    SLSH

If Carnival told you final payment would be billed to the credit card on file and then failed to do this they should correct their error. I have no doubt they did tell you this, as they have told me this, and even assured me there is no way I could loose my reservation, payment would automatically be billed to my cc, but I always set a reminder on my phone a couple weeks in advance of final payment. Yes you are partially to blame, and you admit that.

I wouldn't settle for what they have offered. I would take it to the CEO if necessary, be persistent and make them honor your original booking.

  9. You're making quite an assumption that Carnival continued to sell this person the beverages.

This could be the case,,, or,,,, allergic reaction to new meds, friends bought the drinks, smuggled the drinks on board, etc.

You're correct, it could be any of the situations you mentioned, but in this case we were by the pool all day and watched him purchase his own drinks and get more and more intoxicated. So in this case not an assumption.

  10. Due to the above average number of guest going overboard, and a lot of people having the opinion it's mostly related to people over indulging, do you think Carnival should cut people off when they are obviously intoxicated? I personally witnessed a man so drunk he passed out on a table on the lido deck by the bar. We watched people come by and take selfies with him, one person going so far as to lift his head (by a handful of hair). While it was funny to watch at the time, espically when he woke up and didnt have a clue where he was, we wouldn't be laughing if he had gone overboard. Curious as to what others think.

  11. We have always only cruised Carnival.

We love Carnival - love the food, the pricing and the fun we always have.

I might have 1 or 2 drinks all week on the ship (have to have at least 1 Kiss on the Lips) and I might spend $20 or $30 in the casino. Hubby doesn't drink at all and might spend about the same in the casino.

I had a really good friend call me yesterday and tell me that his wife wants to go on a cruise for their 30th anniversary. He wanted my opinion about which cruise line to take and which ports they might enjoy.

He is a pastor (Baptist) and she is a pastor's wife - need I say more. I love them both they are wonderful people and I respect their values and morals. I would never want to recommend something that would make them uncomfortable.

So, I guess my question is this - would you recommend Carnival to friends like mine? I know there is drinking and gambling on all ships - except Disney maybe, so I'm not sure what to tell them.

Maybe Royal or Princess might be better for them.

Give me some input guys - I don't want to steer them wrong.

    Thanks!

I think they may be more comfortable on another line. We don't drink, but aren't offended by those who do. How comfortable would they be with things like the harry chest competition, etc.

  12. You should be fine. Do self assist (you don't need FTTF), take a taxi, and be sure to go to the agricultural check before trying to check your bag. We didnt know to do this the first time and it slowed us down.

We have cruised out of San Juan multiple times and security seems to go fairly fast, but we're one of the first ones off the ship and get ahead of the crowds.

  13. Hi all, our plans were to get a hotel room in Miami on Saturday night and then going back to airport in morning and taking a $70 shuttle to Port Everglades Sunday morning. Well I found we can rent a car for $35 in Miami airport and drop off at Fort Lauderdale airport on Sunday morning and take a $15-$20 taxi ride to the Port Sunday morning. At least this way if we want to get something to eat or drive around Miami a bit Saturday night or Fort Lauderdale Sunday morning we can without having to worry about someone else driving us and not being able to make any stops. Our flight doesn't get in until after 10pm Saturday night so we'll probably run thru a drive thru that night & then to the hotel to crash. Unless anyone has an opinions on what we could do that late or early Sunday morning before dropping off our rental car?

Miami doesn't sleep. Drive around and look at the Art Decor buildings. Check with your rental car company, a lot of times they have a free shuttle to the port, at least MIA does, not sure about FLL.

Please get us another carnival ship in mobile, alabama. Our beautiful cruise terminal and parking garage just sits empty, (with the exception of an occasional wedding reception) since carnival left a few years ago.

There are many, many people in mobile who want another ship here.

We are platinum with carnival and love the carnival ships.

Thank you very, very much for anything you do to help us. :)[/quote]
    agree 1000% !!!!!
  15. This is my first time trying to do a poll, so hope it works.

On Carnival ships do you enjoy the special show/dancing the servers do in the main dining rooms? Especially where people are waving their napkins 'round and 'round?

Personally, I don't care for them and wish they would do away with them. The servers are rushed as it is, then they have to stop doing what they're doing - as in taking care of their customers, and take time away from them to dance and sing, etc. And the napkin waving by all the guests in the dining room just makes me cringe. Here they have been wiping food off their mouths and now they're flinging those bits of food all over the restaurant. Blech! :(

So, how do YOU feel about the dining room shows? Yay or Nay?

We enjoy the shows, but we do ATD and usually miss them. I don't have a problem with the napkin twirling, but I do have issues with the waiters dancing on the same pedestals they place the trays of food on while sorting the orders.I assume these are the same shoes they wear into the restrooms. Gross!

Don't think this would be allowed in restaurants in the United States.
