The crawls we have attended have always ended in one of the larger suites. and the occupants supplied some simple refreshments (juice and pastries, wine and h'ors doeurves depending on time of day). This did not always happen. There really are no set rules and as another poster said, the real purpose is just to let everyone see, up close, different types of cabins. Hope you enjoy yours.

OK! I have a real BEEF with this whole thread. I guess I am just in a CRABBY mood today. 🙂

Just FYI... Afternoon and High tea are two different things. Afternoon is the scones, clotted cream, little sandwiches, etc. High tea is like supper... stew. a simple casserole (working man's fare) . It's not a big deal, I know, but I was glad to know the difference. 🙂

I can vouch that we’re living a normal but safe life here. 🙂 This person is known for their hit and run posts. Just ignore.I know CB and her, shall we say, sometimes less than accurate information. Also, I was recently in N.Y. and they are doing just fine there as well. We all need to be cautious no matter where we are. Wishing you continued safety and good health. 🙂

Unless you're in Ca. or NY, everyone is living life as normal......it's fine.
Would you mind sharing your sources for this "helpful " information?

What's a formal night?
So true! If you will use the tux again and make it worth the money you spend, go for it. However, we have found that Alaska cruises are even more casual than Caribbean or European cruises and our last Alaska cruise was 10 or 12 years ago. 🙂

My DD and her hubby and a few of their friends did this on a cruise a few years ago and loved it. DD is a real wine lover and a food snob to boot, and in general is not a fan of cruise food, but she and all of their party LOVED everything at Chef's Table. I have no personal experience, but DD was definitely impressed and I would trust her judgment. If you go, I hope you have a great experience! 🙂

I believe there is usually an afternoon snack/tea time in Windjammer, perhaps 3-4pm each day. Would it help for her to have a light meal or snack then, with dinner slightly later?
..or something light from Room Service if dinner has to be a little later. 🙂

Honestly, OUTDOORS has NEVER required a mask.
If you were/are outdoors by your self or with just members of your household, I agree, BUT if you are/were outdoors in a gathering with others and NOT socially distanced then you most certainly should wear a mask.

Tauck has a great reputation. I have not personally taken a river cruise with them, but family members and friends have. They all have said how well organized and efficient the Tauck cruises are. Every detail is taken care of. You basically just show up and enjoy ! 🙂

We loved listening to the "Rosario Strings", mostly in the Centrum before dinner. This was many years ago. Sometimes they would stroll through the dining room during dinner and play requests. I think there may have been more than one group who used this name, but all with similar format . They could play pretty much anything on their violins and other "strings". Anyone else remember them? 🙂

She's got it backward. Westbound occurs in Fall, sun in south, on port side. I've done Barcelona to NY in Nov. Peruse the boards long enough and you will learn how much credence to give to posts by cb. EM
Also, someone who has no passport (by her own admission) and only cruises to the Caribbean, obviously has never taken a transatlantic voyage of any sort and should not be offering any advice on them. Personal experience, CB.

The question was not if we would take our child or leave him home--if we go, we are taking him. We were just looking to see experiences from other people that have taken a child of similar age to Alaska.
If we do not go on the cruise, we would be choosing another vacation spot. We are not talking about not bringing him if we go.
Pay no attention toCB. This "advice" is just another of her constantly repeated stock posts. Her favorite line is "you're a family now, so that's how you vacation" She doesn't get it that some vacation options are more suited (or not) to young children. Speaking from personal experience, our grand-daughter accompanied us and the rest of the family on a cruise at about 20 months, and my daughter said "never again". It all depends on the child and the family make-up. I hope whatever you choose results in a wonderful vacation for all. 🙂

Yea, I know. But in this case I wasn't correcting. Read between the lines. Sometimes I like living on the edge. 🤣
I hope mr. "luxury lines" doesn't ever get caught in the rain...his nose is so far up in the air, he'll drown ! (evil grin emoji here!)

If you book with VT it doesn't include the comp breakfast...book directly with Hyatt membership and it did...Not sure what policy on a buffet breakfast is going to be going further with the virus.
Thanks for that info. We have not stayed there for a while, but the buffet was included at that time when booking with VT. I think buffets everywhere may be gone for quite a while! 🙂

Hyatt Place (convention center location) off 17th street location just behind the embassy Suites and right next door to the Harbor Shopping plaza. Lot's of stores, restaurants and a Publix market. One of the favorite pre-cruise hotels to use. Great rates if you become a Hyatt member and book directly or you can book through Value Trips.
I say ditto to this post. We have stayed here at least 4 times and book through Valutrips. Rooms are large clean and comfortable and they used to offer a complimentary breakfast buffet (not sure if this is still the case).

I am pretty sure that he is not with Royal any more. Irky from Turkey. He was the best trivia guy ever! Funny, personable...a real delight. 🙂

This is the best thread !!! Thank you Ukigirl for your humor and creativity. You made me laugh and really brightened up my day. Also, your "waiter" is very handsome!!! My best wishes to you and the "waiter" for good health and happiness as we all get through this. 🙂

Me too, just wanting confirmation - the other lines specified in their announcements what the policies would be - NCL for example is offering 125% FCC or 100% refund.
Our grandson was supposed to leave yesterday (3/14) on Navigator (RCCL). Since cruise was cancelled, he was offered 100% refund OR 125% FCC.

FYI I have read all the reports too. I still would not cruise with a young child.
Can not imagine being quarantined in a room with a baby or toddler. Sure it is unlikely to happen but why take the chance?
You are right if it comes to being quarantined . Two weeks in a small space with a toddler could be "difficult" to say the least !!! 🙂

A few years ago, we did a family cruise for 11.. I specifically asked for a ROUND table and all were able to converse easily with everyone at the table. Be very firm about wanting a round table. Have fun!!!
