  1. I have called X about 3 times in the last month. Everytime the hold time has been pretty long. (Sometimes pushing 30 minutes or longer). My hunch is they are cutting costs in the cusromer service dept and it will continue to be a problem until corporate decides to put more resources in their customer service dept.

I have sailed with HAL,Princess, and Carnival and have dealt with their respective customer service depts and have not had to wait so long.

X, you need to improve in this dept.

  2. I know all about the blaring on Carnival! I have learned the hard way in my cruise experince. It is a deal breaker for me as well.

My first of I hope many X cruises is coming up in April. I can't imagine the cruise line jeopardizing their popularity by allowing annoying techno music to pollute more serene areas of the ship. It has its place for sure, but not in most areas of the ship.

  3. DW and I are snobs when it comes to coffee. I'm trying to stake out how many outlets there are onboard for lattes, espresso, etc. My question is does the Cafe al Bacio and Bistro on five serve these kinds of coffee drinks? Any other locations on board? How much for these coffee drinks? And my last question is what is the regular coffee like on board and is it better than the syrup concentrate swill found on on other liners.

    Thanks in advance!

  4. Dear Celebrity nation,

DW and I are pretty hardy cruisers but have not done any ocean crossings before. We have 5 sea days coming back to the mainland from Hawaii on the Solstice. (In early May). Anyone out there with previous experience on this crossing? What lind of weather and seas are typical that time of year?

    Thanks,

    Jack & Jill

  5. DW and I will be crossing the pacific ocean north bound from Hawaii to Vancouver, BC in early May. I'm not sure what to expect weather wise, (how cold), and how heavy the seas can get that time of year.

I'm sure there are a lot of you experienced cruisers out there that can help us better prepare for the 5 sea "daze" aboard Solstice coming home to the mainland.

    Thanks!

  6. Movies are shown in celebrity central. Right next to the main theater.

However, it's a relatively small space and a relatively small screen so don't expect too much.

    Thanks,

If it compares with the cinema on HAL ships, l'll be happy.

  7. Never cruised with Celebrity before. DW and I are awaiting 5 sea days from Hawaii to Vancouver, BC this April. Is there a dedicated site for movies onboard? I know there are a lot of movies that can be viewed in your stateroom, but is is nice to "go out to a movie."

    Thanks,

    Jack and Jill

  8. My DW is flexatarian and will eat fish occasionally but is vegan for the most part. I booked aquaclass so we could dine in BLU. My thinking was that a vegan has a fighting chance for more variety there. I see there a few vegan selections here and there on their menu. My question is are the chefs able to conjure up tasty selections on the fly to please their vegan guests? I swear I've read on these boards that they can be pretty accommodating when it comes to things like this.

    Any experiences or ideas?

    Thanks!

  9. Does the Solstice have the extensive microbrew selection at Michaels?

(Like other S class ships) If so, what is the typical cost for these beers?

I typically will have 2 glasses of wine per day along with a couple of decent beers. (And maybe a cocktail on some days) Not sure if a drink package would be worth it. At (gulp) $621.00 per cruise, I'd be sh*! faced trying to get my moneys worth.

    Also, how much are lattes?

    thanks,

  10. Thanks for the reply! The shuttle sounds like the ticket to get to the ship. If we have time, we might try to rent a car to drive to the north shore on day one.

If there is a cruise critic meet and greet on this sailing, I hope to meet and thank you again.

  11. DW and I are sailing on the Solstice out of Honolulu. I have never been to Hawaii before and am curious as to the best way to get to the pier from the airport. Taxi, shuttle, limo, lightrail? We are arriving many hours before the X shuttle so just want to get on board and enjoy the amenities onboard before sailing out the next evening.

The ship won't sail out of Honolulu until day two. Once aboard and settled in, will X let you off the ship to sightsee, shop, etc? I figure there will be over 24 hours in port before she sets sail. Not sure if we should try and cram something in Honolulu on day 1. (Or not). Day 2 we will do about a 6 hour excursion to the AZ memorial and aircraft museum. Will there be time to visit the north shore after that?

Sorry, I am such a neophyte when it comes to Honolulu and what to do upon arrival.
