  1. Thank you for the tips - love it !!!! We did pay for an excursion - the Freeport island tour - and for Nassau we read there is a lot near by so we are on our own there :) please let me know if you think of anything else

In Nassau we've gone to Junkanoo beach. It's a free public beach that is only a 15-20min walk from the pier. There's bathrooms, food/drink shacks and chair rentals. Not a bad beach for free. You get a nice view of the ships as well from the beach! I'll see if i can find some of our pictures :)

  2. Thank you - I got the bubbles program as I did not know about being able to bring soda on. Can you tell me what the limit is on Duty Free? I also did the pre tipping thing - hoping that was not a mistake :( first time cruiser learn the ropes

I want to say $500 duty free limit, but I'm not totally sure. We usually only purchase a few souvenir type items and never come close to what the limit is so i haven't paid much attention to it lol.

I don't think doing prepaid gratuities is a mistake. It's nice to have that extra expense already paid for when you board the ship. Cuts down on your final bill amount! [emoji14]

  3. The Pride does have a retractable roof over one of the pools, so when it's cold they close it and it becomes an indoor pool. We sailed once in February out of Baltimore and it was a little chilly embarkation day and a little in the morning of the second day. As you sail down the coast it will get warmer and warmer.

One of our favorite things about the Pride is the Serenity adult only area. It is located in the back of the ship and only allows 21+ to enter. There's a pool back there and hot tub, a bar and some really comfy chairs, clamshells, and hammocks. You have to get there early because it fills up quick!

If you go to David's Steakhouse on the first night you get a free bottle of wine. It is $35 per person but you get a delicious 4 course dinner.

Don't forget you can bring a 750ml bottle of wine in your carryon per person over 21. Don't forget your corkscrew! :) You may also bring a 12 pack of canned soda per person as well. Helps cut down on your costs if you're a soda drinker.

Happy sailing! If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. We're heading on the Pride for the 4th time this April :)

  4. We've never flown with our wine, always bought it when we arrived to the area. If it were me though, I would probably put it in some sort of zippered bag just in case it did break it wouldn't leak. Then maybe wrap it in bubble wrap and then make sure it is tucked in between clothes as extra padding. Good luck!

  5. I would love it to be in the 80s but I know that is wishful thinking. I know PA has had there share of cold and snow. My son lives in Philly.

Thanks again for all the great information. I was wondering about everything I asked and you did a great job answering and helping me out. Have a great weekend.

you're very welcome! :) have a great cruise!!

  6. Thank you so much. You have been very helpful. I really appreciate all the help. Did you like the hotel? I sure hope the weather is warm. We live in Maryland and I am so tired of the cold already.

The hotel was very nice. Clean, modern and staff was very friendly. Breakfast was also good as well.

our temps were in the mid 70s when we went. Much better than PA! :) just being in the sunshine felt great!

  7. We've always booked flights at noon or later without any issues, from FLL, MIA and CHS. I would personally choose 12:45... The cruise we just got back from a few days ago in Charleston said we wouldn't dock until 8am and we booked a noon flight. We were in the shuttle by 8:20 and on our way to the airport. The ship's always seem to dock ahead of schedule (unless of course there's an issue during the cruise delaying the ship)

  8. We sailed when our son was 10 months old. We were definitely on his schedule. Naps came above all else lol. We never went to any shows or really did much onboard. Camp carnival is only for 2+, but they do have a for fee babysitting service that we didn't use. We had a balcony so that was when dh and I had alone time and peace and quiet (when ds went to bed) it's definitely different cruising with a baby, but if you just go with the flow you'll have fun and make family memories! :)

  9. I was very apprehensive about going on a smaller and older ship. There were things we wish the ship had like a bar in Serenity and more public bathrooms. She doesn't show her age at all and we loved the pool area (especially at night with the color changing lights). Being smaller also meant less walking since our room was fwd and everything was aft or mid that we went to. We really love the Spirit class, but Fantasy could be a future contender for us if the price is right! :p I'm glad the Pride is coming back to Baltimore with her 2.0 upgrades and only an hr drive to port though!:D

  10. Love your review thanks for sharing. We are staying atthe same hotel in a few weeks before our cruise. We did do the cruise package. Do you how you sign up for the time you want to leave for the ship? Do you think the time you left was a good time? We do have FTTF. Also, what about when you got off? How did they know to pick you up?

I can't see the pictures now since I am work computer and they block them out but can't wait to look at them tonight. Getting very excited. I like the bigger ships with the extra's but this was just for a quick get away.

When you check in with the hotel they figure out your pickup time. We were told he usually does pickups at 10:30. The driver's name was Nathaniel and he was a very nice guy! We were the first group onto the ship. Leaving at 10:30 was perfect I think.

As far as him picking you up, he takes down your name and cell phone number and gives you a call in the morning once the ship docks. You then let him know when you expect to be getting off so he has an idea of when to get there. Once you clear customs give him a call and he'll be there waiting in the taxi/limo shuttle area. Very simple! He took us right to the airport instead of back to the hotel. We did self assist debark and carried off our luggage. Our deck was to debark at 8 am. We were in his car by 8:20. Extremely easy! :)

  11. Thank you so much for such a great review and pictures! We sail on Fantasy Sept 19. This will be my first Carnival Cruise. We are going with a group of 20! May I ask what were the rates at the hotel you stayed in? thanks so much!!

We paid $101 for the hotel (included all taxes) we didn't book the cruise package, but the hotel gave us the information for the shuttle service they use and we booked through him directly. Probably should have just booked the cruise package though!

  12. Great pictures, thanks for posting. We are going on the same itinerary in about 3 weeks. How was the water and air temperatures in Little Stirrup Cay?

Did you take any pics of the cabaña area at LSC?

The temps were about mid 70's. Felt nice in the sun! Water was tolerable :) wasn't freezing cold and we walked all around in it.

I'll look and see if I have any cabana pics. The cabana area was really nice though. It was it's own private area with an entrance and a bar I believe. It was a little walk to the beach though.
