  1. So on your cruise documents do you mark cash or credit card for your S&S card. I plan on using some of the ecards and then credit card for any balance. If there is any balance at end of cruise from ecards do you get a refund?

You can mark either. If you apply ecards, those will be used first. I marked cash and then watched my S&S account until I needed to give them my card. I didn't have any left so I'm not sure how the refund would be handled.

  2. Thanks for the info - now i can save 10%

Sent from my iPad using Forums

It's nice to save 10%. We saved $60 alone on the cards for the Cheers package ($600 worth for $540) and then bought more to book our next cruise. Every time I book or buy anything from Carnival, I visit the Verizon site first!

I can't seem to use them on the Fun Shops site though, I don't see a place for gift cards as payments.

  3. When signing in on the CCL website, I had to setup my OBC account for my wife and myself. Rather than us a CC, I chose the cash option. When I board, will I be able to use the Verizon e-cards in lieu of cash?

    Thank you

That is what we did (and the other couple we were cruising with) in October. No issues at all. We went straight to GS and they were applied immediately. I'm doing this in a couple of weeks too :).

  4.

We had a blast in the casino and the bar staff there are wonderful!

OMGosh, the casino staff is awesome on the Miracle! The casino manager, Gonzalo (slot manager), bartender Yuri and bar waiters Vincent & Ryan are the best ever! The Miracle also has a great Hotel Director, Steve Scandale. I just can't say enough about the staff on the Miracle, all this talk makes me want to go back NOW! :p

And if you frequented the Serenity Deck at all, the bar staff there was just as great!

So glad you had a great cruise. To me, every day on a cruise is a great day!

  5. The Captain did a great job ... he was on the bridge all the time ... but when he found out that we could not tender in Maui he made a quick move .. to turn us around to proceed to Kona where we were able to enjoy a few hours instead of a sea day ...

How can someone complain about that? On our sailing, we skirted around tropical storm Simon (which was upgraded to a hurricane during our sailing) and was late to Cabo the first day, but he had our safety in mind and a little bit of rough seas was to be expected. The Captain was great and gave us updates as necessary.

Glad to see that you enjoyed your cruise :).

  6. As PekingeseLady said you will lose your cabin and your ES you wont be able to get any more price drops.

We did this when Carnival had their 35 hr sale, saved my kids $140 on their cabin and we saved $440 on our cabin..... it was a no brainer for us!!

I also did this during the Halloween sail, however once my cabin was assigned then I can still get price protection since per my PVP. Once ES, always ES. You just can not get PP when you're still in the gty pool, your cabin must be assigned so you know what rate to look at. The rate I booked at was so low, it is unlikely that I'll get a price drop.

  7. my daughter is going on a 5 day out of Miami she said she could buy a bottle of alchol with 6 soda on the ship for like 90 dollar and consume on board is this correct thanks for you responses

Yes, you can order ahead from the Carnival Fun Shop (Bon Voyage) or from room service while on board.

  8. In the last, I've only cruised out of Texs which meant that we couldn't purchase the Cheers program until the first Sea Day. This time we will be sailing out of New Orleans on a 7 day cruise. So to confirm that my math is right:

    7 days * 2 cruisers over 21 in the cabin * $49.95/day = $699.30 + 15% tip (104.90) = $804.20! Is that correct?

Yep! That's what we paid for our 7-day cruise :).

  9. Linked reservations are for dining purposes. If you want to dine together make sure all reservations are linked together

Linking of the reservations for dining must carry over as I received my cabin assignment today as well as my friend Sandi and we are next door to each other. We booked at different times but have them linked for dinner. We weren't lucky with our Gty...we got the Riviera deck but I saved over $100 so I don't mind, just happy to be going!

  10. My husband and I did the Cheers program for a 4 day cruise. We got our money's worth. We also both agreed that there was added value - no worrying about money or price of drinks, it was well worth it to us!

I totally agree! I've done it three times so far on 7-night cruises and plan to do it on my 4-night Inspiration cruise next month :).

  11. Keep in mind for a 7 day the cost per day goes down some. It is only $37.50+ 15% pp per day. The chart is based on shorter cruise lengths. That might help convince him it is worth it. My DW and I are going on a 7 day next month and we will be taking advantage of the program.

This isn't true anymore, unfortunately :(. It is $49.95+15% gratuity/pdpp no matter what the length of the cruise is. We were lucky and sailed at the $37.50 price in October but it changed right after that.

  12. I don't think ship's crew ever has "off hours" while at sea. They must always be available and able to perform emergency duties in the event the captain decides to run aground. In port and not underway may be a little different.

Regardless, they did have a crew party that was put on by Carnival for them so they must be able to drink and I'm sure they have guidelines for that.

  13. On our Miracle cruise in October, they closed the Serenity Deck early one night for the crew party. Yes, the bar was open for them and they did have a great time from what the bartender told us the next day. Obviously only the off-duty crew members partied. We never seen them intoxicated and they were a fun crew. More power to them to have a good time on their off hours.

  14. Mickide, nobody said it was Carnivals fault for the fog delay. I guess I could've explained it better. My friend said he sat with a group of 10 for dinner and they were upset as someone decided to do the muster drill just as the main courses were served in the MDR. Said by the time they got back...everything was cold as the food had been sitting there for so long. He mentioned some other things that could've ran better, but this thread isn't a "bash Carnival" thread so I'll leave that be. He was in good spirits when he called last night. Its his 6 Carnival cruise and he booked it just last week as he got one heck of a deal on it. I told him I was sorry to hear he was stuck in port and he replied "heck...I'm on a cruise ship in Florida when I could be stuck back at home in Indiana with 30 degree weather. I've got no complaints." He's got the attitude of Gatorfan and many of us on here. I wish I could cruise with everyone that has the same mentality.

I totally took it as people were ticked about the delay. I can totally understand being ticked off about the dinner scenario. My apologies :).

  15. I'm on the Paradise right now and everyone is in good moods. Families are laughing and kids are enjoying themselves. I haven't seen anyone ticked off. This is my first cruise and I'm disappointed we are still here and missing Cayman but I'm on vacation so I'll make the best of it. The view of Tampa is incredible.

You have a great attitude, enjoy your cruise!

  16. A friend of mine is on the ship...won't leave until tomorrow and will skip grand cayman. He said everyone was dismissed from dinner to go to a safety meeting. He said there's a lot of ticked off passengers on board.

Oh holy cow, what good does it do to be ticked off? It's not like Carnival caused the delay and I'm sure they would rather be out to sea with the casino & shops open. People need to learn to relax and enjoy their vacation! :p
