  1. I use two or three sizes plus a folder for husband's shirts. My favorite ones are lightweight nylon/mesh that I found on ebay. Think they were five or six for about fifteen dollars. New and have to buy whole set; several colors so easy to sort out family members' cubes. Also have picked up a few at places like TJMaxx or Ross but that's hit-or-miss shopping!

  2. Two things I will never wear are Crocs and capris but who knows what the next 20 years will bring!

I literally laughed out loud at this line. Thank you!!!

At least in my case, hitting mid-sixties made a difference. I always thought capris were horrible and know they don't flatter anyone but decided what the heck and bought some during a miserably hot summer. Not the baggy work-in-yard type but a bit more tailored. Comfort has become way more important than it used to be. However, I definitely still agree about Crocs! Keens are my favorite travel shoes.

  3. After reading the post about where the lymph glands are, have been doing just the dry brushing before shower a few nights a week and notice I seem to sleep better. Today happened to see a natural bristle nail brush and picked it up, thinking packing this for a trip is much better than the big body brushes, space-wise. Just a thought.

  4. Enjoying your writings about this trip. Love going with Blount because you aren't just one of the herd!

Your menu mentions make my mouth water since know Andy's chef skills. Hadn't seen who was assisting him but they're usually super, too!

So glad you have Nary on board. One of my favorites and missed her on last Blount trip since she was on other ship.

Wish Blount would do another Lake Superior trip since that one enabled us to see parts of US we wouldn't have. Still would like to go down east coast with them some time.

    Looking forward to next installment!

  5. Is there a site where you can find what's in the blank areas of ships (particularly NCL) on deck plans? Can tell when there's just another cabin across from one but no idea what of the blank areas would be noisy when the stewards are working. Thanks! (Please direct me where to post this if inappropriate here.)

  6. For anyone who read the posts a while back when I searched for a lighted magnifying mirror......Loved the sensor on the Simple Human one but returned it after two or three weeks because it was such harsh light. Looking at it in the store which was already well-lit was quite different from it being at home with regular (but good) bathroom lighting. Sad but found a "regular" one by Conair worked much better for us.

  7. Thanks, CB & Sharod, for replying. I bought a Simple Human one (and used the BB&B coupon). Nice to have no cord or buttons! Went for the larger size (5x) rather than the travel one (10x) so could see entire face at once. Could attach a small 10x if necessary. Light seems daylight-harsh which should help keep me from looking like a clown as I age. Figure if it looks right in regular mirror and then I check in the new one and don't see anything garish, that's correct. No verdict yet from DH re: checking after shaving. Thanks, again for the input.

    Happy Fourth of July, everyone!

  8. After moving to a different house, I'm in the market for a lighted make-up mirror. Old house had great place to mount a magnifying mirror and good light. This house has great light everywhere but the place I need it most!

Need one that sits on counter rather than wall-mount. Looked at one mirror by Conair that I liked (regular on one side; 10X on other) but then saw one with LED that's only 10X (no regular side) but the light seems great and I really need the magnification. No bulb to replace and no cord to mess with. There's also not much rim around it.

Supposedly LED is more like natural light but didn't want to drop that much money and then find out people have hated them.

Any thoughts or experience? All advice or comments appreciated. Thanks!

  9. ............... if only they'd come out of the bottle and rub themselves into my fingers without me having to remember.

    Cracked me up!

Thank you for the information about the DIY. I've ordered the things to do this with but then life got in the way and haven't. Maybe by fall things will slow down enough to try doing them. Will look forward to reading the rest of your experience! Thanks!

  10. Since the OP's question had to do with transparency, I wonder what value "slip shorts", bike shorts, even capri leggings might be? If other can see through the dress, they will still see one's legs, and not know that those legs are covered with a "second skin." What's the point? I get the idea of these undergarments might provide smoother lines, and most likely warmth, but not visual camouflage.

The pettipants are fuller so don't show exact outline of legs so function somewhat like a slip.

  11.

I am interested in a trip on the Great Lakes right now but haven't seen a price point that I can live with with Pearl Seas.

    s.

Don't know the Pearl Seas price but Blount might be a little cheaper though no frills.

  12. ........... They're nice and very sentimental but they are also replaceable. Not only do I not have to worry about losing my wedding rings, but they are a nice vacation ritual. When I put it on I know I'm going on an adventure!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Now this is a great idea! May have to suggest these for an anniversary gift since that will come before our next cruise!

  13. Now I know why some people take bungee cords. I'm betting this moron's wife had one end hooked to his shorts and the other end hooked to the door frame behind him, because he's probably done this before.

Makes you feel sorry for her, being tethered to him!

Sky.........Yes, he'd be the type to blame the cruise line for his stupidity.

Maybe lawsuits provide the money to cruise?

  14. And don't depend on your phone as a watch. Buy and wear a cheap watch if you don't usually wear one and set it to the ship's time. We plan to get back at least an hour and a half before departure but there should be a time posted. Remember, there will be lines and passengers from other ships onshore when you are. Always better to be safe than sorry plus you can be back and relax while watching the pier runners trying to catch the ship. Enjoy!

Don't be surprised if you hear odd slang in Australia, Seppo is one for persons from the US of A

    !

Great thread but now my curiosity is piqued...........Can you give more information as to why Seppo is slang for someone from US of A? Assume it is derogatory without being too insulting. What word does it come from, etc. Always interesting (sometimes enlightening) to learn what others think of some group.

    Thanks!

  16. This thread reminds me of something that happened in a Phoenix department store about ten years ago...one that carried tools, too.........

Was checking out in women's wear and a couple was behind me He turned to his wife and said, "That's a pretty ring, you talk to her and I'll be back in a few minutes. I know where the cutting shears are and I'll get it for you."

I just stared at him and finished checking out. The clerk asked if I wanted someone to walk out with me but my dd sil were nearby so declined.

As scary as some people are today, I'd have probably had the clerk call security if it happened now.
