  1. What do people do for lunch at the Baths? Do most eat/drink at the restaurant on the top of baths, or has anyone "traveled" to another spot for lunch?

I would be concerned about making it back for the 12:40pm ferry (would be doing this on our own)

  2. Are there any chairs and/or umbrellas or food options available? I know they just built some bathrooms/showers.

We will be doing a snorkeling excursion in the morning, but that ends at 11:30 and departs back by the ships. So, we should get there around noon-ish, is this doable given potential crowds?

Also - how "clean" is the beach? Meaning no trash, cigarette butts, etc. in the sand? thanks!

  3. Thank you so much for all of the info!

I know that in St. Thomas, you did the Skyride and then ate lunch at the top, after the Twice is Nice excursion. Your review of the restaurant wasn't so great :) so we will likely grab lunch somewhere else. Or, do you think there would be time to hit up a beach, after the excursion?

As for the Baths, did you have time to grab breakfast on the ship in AM? What did you do for snacks/lunch?

I had to ask as my girlfriend will get HANGRY if she doesn't eat lol!

  4. Hi Aubrey!

    St. Thomas:

We are a fun couple (mid to late 20's) and are debating either the St. John Catamaran ($93pp) or the Twice as Nice Catamaran ($72pp). Given you've done both, which one was overall "better" in your mind?

Also did you ever consider going over to St. John / Trunk Bay?

    Tortola:

We are planning on doing exactly what you did and go to the Baths "on our own" rather than pay the NCL price of $72 per person. I was looking at Speedy's and saw that it was $39 per person which included round trip ferry service to/from Virgin Gorda as well as taxi to/from the Baths. I think you mentioned that it's about a 10min walk from the ship to Speedy's, or did you taxi it to them? Does the $39 include the Baths entrance fee?

The $50 per person "water taxi" you mention, that was from Egbert? I assume that doesn't include a taxi to the Baths nor the entrance fee? So, the cost difference from him and Speedy's could be a quite a few bucks? It seems like you're paying more for a fast boat ride back to Tortola?

    Nassau:

I think we will likely stay on the ship but you mentioned some tours for around $40 per person. Can you shed any more light on them?

    Ship:

We are going with the Beverage package promotion, but thinking about getting the 3 or 4 meal specialty plan - did you find this worthwhile?

Thanks so much for my million questions!

  5. I am going with the Beverage Package booking promo, but thinking about the 3 Meal Specialty Dining package, for an upcoming cruise on the Escape. This is what I an envisioning, is this correct?

    Option A:

    Buy the package at: $59 + 18% Gratuity Charge ($10.62) = $69.62 per person

Meal 1: Le Bistro...My Cost: already paid for

Meal 2: Supper Club/For the Record...My Cost: $15 extra per person

Meal 3: Bayamo...My Cost: $15 extra per person

    Total Cost, per person, $69.62 + $15 + $15 = $99.62

    Option B:

Pay for these 3 meals out-of-pocket, but Bayamo and LeBistro would be a la carte, and Supper Club would be $30. So, depending on the a la carte prices at Bayamo and LeBistro, the 3 meal package may actually be cheaper?

    Thanks!

  6. You may want to look into the Renaissance or Westin Waterfront or Seaport hotels = they are the 3 "closest" to the pier.

The whole area is known as the seaport and depending on the day of the week, it can be lively at night and is also home to the Lawn on D. There are a number of bars and restuarants in the immediate area. Personally, I like the rooftop bar at the Legal Harborside, and if a show is playing at the Blue Hills Bank pavilion, you can see into the show from the rooftop!

If you have more time, I would agree that Back Bay would be your best bet.

  7. Hi,

I am thinking of getting the Specialty Dining Package promo but was confused. It's for a 7 day cruise on the Escape and will by myself and girlfriend:

    1. It looks like this entitles us to 4 separate dinners (e.g. Cagneys, Le Bistro, Teppanyaki-Hibachi, Moderno) according to the website.

    2. Are these dinners unlimited, or is there a cap on what we can get - I am

confused if this UDP covers the new "a la carte" pricing model? For example, can we get an app and then each a main course and desert?

    3. I realize that the 18% gratuities are not included, so that will cost us $13.32 per person or $26.64 for the two of us.

    4. As for the non-included specialty restaurants, the UDP gives us a discount on them: $15 for the Supper Club, $15 for Bayamo, $7 for Pincho, etc.

    Am I correct?

  8. Neptune:

Since you took the Kuralu charter over to White Bay / JVD - how much time did you have there, versus the other stops you guys made on the sail? Also, did you just hang at the beach and go to the Sand Dollar on JVD? Aka a shortened beach day there and then snorkeling/swimming/cruising on the other parts?

    Thanks!

  9. Hi - Has anyone does this? It sounds like a booze cruise with a stop at Rose Bay for beach/snorkeling. This is not the "Bahamian Queen" booze cruise, this is a separate vendor. Looking for anyone's experience with them? The TripAdvisor reviews look great!

  10. Hi Everyone - I want to be sure that I understand the new 18% service charge/gratuity set up for the specialty restaurants. So for some dummy math, assuming a group of 2 people:

    LeBistro

    2 x $20 = $40

    18% = $7.20

    Total = $47.20

    Illusionarium

    2 x $60 = $120 (floor seats are $60, but 15% discount on some nights?)

    18% = $21.60

    Total = $141.60

    Is my math correct? Thanks!

  12. I know this has been posted before, but just checking for an update. Coming from the NCL Getaway, per person to/from St. John on our own would be about $50-60?

    This includes:

    1. Taxi from Ship to Red Hook

    2. Ferry from Red Hook to Cruz Bay

    3. Taxi from Cruz Bay to Trunk Bay or Cinnamon Beach

    4. Taxi from beach to Cruz Bay

    5. Ferry from Cruz Bay to Red Hook

    6. Taxi from Red Hook to Ship

    Am I correct? Thanks!
