1. there will always be the guy at a wedding wearing jeans and a t shirt, and there will always be guys wearing shorts in the MDR, but most people dress appropriately for the location and the occasion. In this case you will be dining in a white table cloth restaurant. Your daughters will look great in their dresses and you will get some nice family photos. Make dinner a special occasion.

Enjoy your cruise!

Well said!

2. Just off the Liberty of the Seas. We had a promenade room on deck 7 and loved it. We heard more noise from the room next door than from the promenade below. I would book another one in a second.

Spent more time looking out over the promenade than i usually do out on my balcony.

3. Does anyone have information on the shows that are currently on the Liberty. Curious as to what we might see on our July sailing.

Thanks!

The CD John Blair does a Neal Diamond tribute that is outstanding. They had it mid afternoon on the second to the last cruise day which seemed unusual. Maybe they do this because it was the cruise director. The show could easily have been an evening show. This show is a don't miss if you are an older adult.

4. enjoying your review

for future reference if you are not already aware

although the crew always seem to direct you towards the garden café buffet on NCL there is always one main dining room open for embarkation lunch

it's nearly always half empty because they only announce the buffet option but it is a great way to start the cruise in a relaxed way

we have also found service to be quick unlike evening sittings where its often a drawn out affair with taking a while to be able to place orders and then a 20-30 minute delay till starter-reason why meals often reported as taking over 2 hours

fair enough if that's what you want but if you are wanting to do other things with your evening........

Hush;)

5. When I booked, there was no OBC offered. After final payment it's now showing $500 OBC on the left side of the vacation summary. I checked with my PCC and she said I don't have any OBC. It doesn't show on the amenity invoice or anywhere else. Just in that one spot.

Sweet

6. We did the "St. John Champagne Cat" excursion offered by the ship a couple of weeks ago. The staff were very pleasant, drinks and snacks were good on the return trip and they had two boats neither of which were overcrowded. The snorkeling site not so good. We anchored a good quarter mile from what was a very meager snorkeling site that contain a minimal amount of both coral and fish.

7. The assembly line dining experience does exacerbate the impact of showing up late to the dining room. This is the case regardless of if you have table mates or if you are dining alone.

My wife and I had a table for two. I believe it was the second night of the cruise, the show ran into our assigned dinning time. The CD announced in the theater not to worry about diner that it would be there when we got there. Ended up arriving about 10 minutes late. We were seated over 15 minutes before our presence was acknowledged. This is the impact of assembly line dining.
8.
We also, in 23 cruises, not had the bad service everyone talks about here. But, we are never in a hurry and love to take our time with the dining experience so a slower pace fits our style of dining. never understand those that want in and out in an hour.

Please look up the definition of frenetic. Several seem to think that the quality of service is determined by the speed of dining. Quality service takes time. I felt like their sole goal was to get me in and out of the dining room ASAP. Our meals never took more than an hour. Waiters sprinting around the dining room providing what one poster defined as an assembly line operation. Never taking the time to ensure that our needs were meet. That's what equates to service.
9.
You really do sound like YTD people.
As many have said if you go before your assigned time either the doors will be closed or there will be people (that had early) sitting at your table. If you are late and are seated with others they will be made to wait to give you a chance to arrive. If you are at a table without others your late arrival will thru the wait staff off. If you have ever done the "Behind the Fun" you would better understand how assembly line works.
Assembly line is right. Don't know when CCL went to frenetic dining but it sure has changed the dining experience. I am guessing it has to do with significant cuts in staffing. It has been a while since I have had anything but freestyle dinning on NCL where service is still offered. So I am guessing that this change has occurred on all of the mainstream cruise lines with assigned dining.

Dining on the Dream was pretty much like convention dining. Service is pretty much gone. A long way from the crumb scraping days of old. Just don't miss the bread basket when it comes around because that second opportunity is probably 30 to 40 minutes away. I learned to get all that i wanted for dinner the first time around.
10. Received my text with my assigned check-in time of between 2:00 and 3:00 PM. Since the ship leaves at 4:00 I would guess that this is the last boarding time. Under what criteria does Carnival use to make the assigned. Cuz this sucks!
