  1. I always get third party insurance rather than thru Carnival. It will be listed on your documents that you have purchased it via Carnival. The policy information may also be included with your cruise documents. My suggestion would be to contact Carnival with any questions.

Is the third party insurance typically cheaper? Why do you prefer it. Just trying to learn because I will buy insurance for all future cruises.

  2. I purchased cruise travel insurance through Carnival for my upcoming cruise. This is the first time that I have purchased insurance but I am getting a bit older and a little more precautionary.

Do I get anything or am I suppose to print something that proves that I have the insurance. I would guess that there would be information that I would need if in fact I had to use it.

    Appreciate the help.

  3. I would love to do a Baltic or European cruise. But trying to do one of these as a last second option is impossible. Airfare rates are ridiculous.

Just hard to believe a ship out of NOLA isn't viable during the summer months.

  4. Planning a last second cruise out of New Orleans. Surprised to see that there are no NCL ships currently sailing from New Orleans. What's up with that! Based on pricing I would think that this is prime season for cruises in the Caribbean.

Looks like I will have to cruise with the Carnival. What, no free UBP? And I would't even have complained about paying the gratuity!

  5. Thanks for the input. Your suggestion about discussing our needs with the hostess is a good one. Was hoping we could share some dinning times as a group.

My mistake was in the title. It should have read "Dinning Arrangements/What is included with the UDP?"

  6. Quote from the day two daily on last weeks Getaway cruise.

Dress Code: Resort casual and shorts are allowed in all dining venues except

Ocean Blue & Le Bistro after 5:00pm. Shoes & shirt must be worn.

    I was shocked as well.

I was on the Getaway last week and our group did in fact include a cruiser wearing shorts the Aft MDR. No questions asked.

  7. You can wear short and a polo shirt to every meal and venue except for the two mentioned. The large MDR and Le Bistro for dinner only. If you don't plan to eat in either of those for dinner, shorts and a shirt will do it all, and you will never be the only one!!

Slacks and a polo will cover you 100%, your choice. Even the Chef's Table can be done in dockers and a polo shirt.

Don't over think it. The folks that like to "dress up" make up less than 10% and probably even less than that. There are a few that will tell you it's a scandal to not dress up, I say, it's NCL's guidelines and if their happy, I'm happy.:D

As stated above shorts are now permitted in the Aft MDR. Shorts are allowed in all venues except Ocean Blue and Le Bistro.

  8. Yes, the Waterfront area may be wider and much straighter, but it is also full of people just wandering about, relaxing in the covered seating areas, enjoying a drink, having dinner, and just generally enjoying the peace and quiet the area was designed for. Also, it does not make a complete loop of the area, but dead ends forward, so a runner would have stop and change directon on each side of the ship.

I understand your frustration with the running track, but as someone who loves the Waterfront area, I would not be thrilled to see a bunch of joggers descend on it.

Agreed. This space is not intended for walking/jogging. Perhaps someone could measure the distance around the MDR.
