  1. Thanks Carol...so I might as well take the free hotel & pay for a transfer, because paying for a hotel with a transfer to the port will be even more expensive...do you know if there are any places to eat around that hotel? They do have an in house restaraunt so if not I can always eat there...

Fran...I am on the Sept. 14th Canada/NE cruise....I did read you & Carol's prior posts and agree I would be lost planning this if it wasn't for the help from a local! I see you are from Deland...I'm about an hour west of you in Ocala...

  2. I am starting to research hotels & transportation for my Sept. 2017 cruise on the Anthem....I will have Holiday Inn Reward points I was hoping to use...but the only Hotel I can find in the area is across from the Newark airport...they have an airport shuttle which is great...but is it going to be terribly expensive for me to get to the port the next day? I will be traveling solo....open to all hotel suggestions...the free night would be nice...but not if it's going to cost me more in travel expenses later...

  3. I have an inside cabin booked on Deck 4 next to the stairs in Nov. hoping it's quiet...I had an inside on Enchantment that backed up to the long open white space on the deck plan & boy was that noisey!! I think it was a plumbing chase or something...heard odd noises from there all times of the day & night!!

  4. Sorry you are upset...as Bob said this has been Royal's policy for quite some time now...and most other cruise lines are the same...once final payment is past they will not honor any price drops....so best advice...unless you are interested in an upgrade...DON'T look at the prices after you make final payment...no use being upset over something you can't have...

  5. Sorry about that (OK, not really). ;)

I'm the guy you see buying flowers at Costco, the grocery store, farmers markets, etc. for no obvious reason. Flowers don't have to be given only when you screw up, or for St. Valentine's Day, birthdays, etc. And yes, I get the stink eye from other guys on occasion because I make them look bad.

Your wife is a lucky lady! My late husband was like that too...nothing would make me smile quicker than to look up & see Hubby strolling into my office with a bouquet of flowers..."just cause".:)

  6. A few cruises ago. We had a really obnoxious assistant waiter. The waiter wouldn't help the situation at all. After sitting at the table for 3 days. Hoping that is was just a bad day. We booked restaurants for the remaining 4 days.

We went to guest services to remove the assistant waiters tips. I would have had to fill out forms to take off their tip. But they could just remove all tips easily. We did that and gave our stateroom attendant the tip in cash.

We almost always tip extra in cash on the last night. We are not "cheapies"

In this case I think I would have filled out the forms....and I would have contacted the head waiter & asked to be moved...why should you have to pay to dine because of poor wait staff?

  7. I commented thru the link & also on FB...on FB I got the canned reply about enjoying more C&A "special" pricing...sorry...anytime I've gone to the special offer section of C&A the prices have been the same...or higher than what I would find on the regular search feature...hopefully the response from their most loyal clients will cause enough of a stir that they will rethink this program adjustment...

  8. After reading several theads in this subject over the years, I'm wondering why anyone would book a solo instead of booking a no show.

Because as a Solo cruiser I don't have to pay the taxes & port fees of the 2nd person....if I book a no show I have to get a refund from Royal...AND then go thru the process of getting my points adjusted to reflect my solo cruiser status...not worth the hassle to me...

  9. This is a bummer...but not totally surprising....with all their "special" pricing lately I haven't gotten a full balcony discount in a while...my 9 night Anthem booking for NEXT Sept. was a whopping $219 discount...oh well...I will be going on my 1st Princess cruise next month...may just start cruising them more...as a solo cruiser I can reach their top level in 8 cruises...not to shabby!

  10. Update: you cannot file both a Best Price Guarantee and ask for a price drop without losing your OBC you were granted from the BPG. The current price online was only a little cheaper than the price we booked, so we decided to keep the OBC. I think I'll only call if a new price is significantly lower than my price minus the amount of OBC.

I used my phone to type this, excuse any typos please!

If you were before final payment at time of booking...why would you even do a BPG Refund? I thought those only applied to cruises that were booked after the final payment date & were paid in full at time of booking?

  11. Thanks to everyone for your help, and, especially being patient with me. Sometimes it takes a few of the same or different explanations for me to understand all of this valuable information.

We have 3 cruises booked for 2017, so I suppose I will keep checking just in case any of the three drop in price again, or, for the first time.

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

Yes, it always pays to keep checking...I have had multiple price drops on cruises before...not lately...but in the past...after final payment though you can stop looking as there will be no price adjustments possible...upgrades only...and needing an accessible cabin limit's you for those...
