  1. The US brand of T-Mobile is owned by Deutch Telecom, the German wireless company. They own a stake in the cellular companies throughout much of Europe. I recommend that you look into purchasing a Sim card from that company for your trip. For US customers, they offered unlimited data for $50 plus taxes for a month on a post paid arrangement, although the speed may not be very fast. It is likely that there is a decent prepaid card available once you arrive.

  2. If your husband plans to stay in the US, he is probably best off starting the citizenship process so that he can get a US passport. If he does not have the usual documentation required to send it, there is alternate acceptable documentation that can be used. Hopefully your husband attended school in the US, since they will have a lot of what he needs.

Google "path to US citizenship" to read what is required. You do not need a lawyer to see what is required.

  3. Just because you are healthy doesn't mean you'll never need to worry, either. We're worried about going on our next one due to a health issue that just started with out 20 year old. Who would have thought she would be the issue!

It all depends on your personal risk comfort level. I have the June trip fully insured due to where we are going and how much we are spending. $15K is a lot of $$$ for me. The Caribbean cruises I won't buy up as much, however.

  4. Once you see pricing on the discount sites, call reservations for the hotel you are interested in and see if they will match the online price. Hyatt usually will. If you book through another website, you do not get Hyatt points for their loyalty club. I believe the Hilton properties have a similar policy.

I would look at car services if there are not free shuttles. It is a matter of comparing prices.

  5. I've tried to upload a photo of my DD's 23 week old Australian Shepherd. Hopefully it comes across. She has been learning how to walk on her leash, how to sit pretty, how to lay down on command, and how to "not be a spaz". She still thinks everyone is supposed to stop and visit with her and scratch her head, but that is what happens when one lives next to a college campus and walks past a sorority on the way to campus. She is making great progress! No accidents in the house for weeks! She also finally quit greeting me by trying to taste me. She never nipped, but wanted to lightly mouth everything. We figured that was just puppy.

DD is moving across town this coming week, and will be nearly 2 miles from campus, but plans to walk Xena to campus every morning, leave her in a crate at my place while at work/in class, then either walk home or get me to drive them at the end of the day. I'll be able to go home for lunch and take her out mid-way through the day, until she is ready to be in a more public setting. Our biggest concern is how hot the sidewalks will be when DD is ready to go home at the end of the day, hence the potential ride home from me. We figure a two mile walk should ensure a nap in the morning, though. :)

I love that they are working with her correctly, teaching her to be a good citizen!

  6.

This is a pilot with our Cruise Now program that is happening right now onboard the Celebrity Constellation and the Celebrity Silhouette. On these two ships you now will put down a even further reduced deposit that is now "Per Stateroom". Then you will receive an Instant OBC equal to the amount of your deposit. For example. If you want a 5 night inside stateroom, your deposit is $50 for that room. You will receive an instant OBC of $50 to spend right now. Your deposit is Non-Refundable. However you are still free to change your ship and sail date or stateroom category as your plans change without any change fees. You will receive the instant OBC to spend onboard anywhere you like. This instant OBC is only available when you book a Cruise Now reservation.

I hope this goes away, or at least does not spread, before we sail on Equinox in June. I'm planning to book my February 2016 cruises while on board, and was looking forward to the beverage package and OBC for booking on board for THAT cruise. I don't need more OBC in June, since I have already booked and paid for excursions on the June cruise.

Also, if someone waits until the last full day to book while on board, they may have a hard time spending the OBC on the cruise. Then it just goes to waste! That would NOT encourage me to book on board!

  7. I will be on Equinox Ina few weeks, after sailing on her on February. I had previously sailed on Reflection last winter, before booking the upcoming June Equinox cruise. Since we'll be traveling with our DD who has many allergies, I asked a lot of questions before booking. I've been assured that we'll be OK, and even already been in contact with the restaurant manager on Equinox ahead of the time. We'll speak with the MDR when we first board, but don't expect issues.

Since DD is allergic to soy and rice, we will not be trying Silk Harvest/Qsine.

  8. Thank you for telling us of your experience. We are very sorry for your loss.

I know that in life insurance, suicide may not be covered, but I find it interesting that the rep told you that not all deaths are covered for travel insurance. Hopefully, this is not an issue either way.

Do you have your full policy? I recommend you read it from cover to cover, see if any exclusions are listed on the policy, and go from there. I also would not depend on a supervisor to call back, but would call today and sit on hold with a set of questions ready after fully reading the policy.

If the insurance company does not follow what is in their policy that they issued to you, please contact your state insurance commissioner for advice.

  9. We went on Solstice when it was first introduced, but I wasn't impressed. The dancer didn't appeal to me either, and DH wasn't impressed with her either.

I didn't think much of the comedian we had, who spent the whole time telling jokes denigrating certain ethnic groups, such as Poles, Irish, etc. Sorry, but I just don't find those funny. Maybe I would have enjoyed the menopause ones?

Anyway, we didn't bother to go back when on Equinox. We'll see about the sailing in a month. But I don't sail for that kind of entertainment.

  10. I'm looking at Feb 2016 cruises and we've decided we're going to do two 7-night ones so that some friends can join us for part. We've been on 4 of the 5 S-class ships, and DH is thinking he'd like to sail on the 5th one, thus we are considering the Silhouette. They are doing alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises. We are interested in going back to St. Kitts, enjoy the beach in St. Maarten, and have never been to two of the western ports.

We've never been on a M-Class, though, and the alternating 7-night runs on the Summit sound interesting, plus we will enjoy not having to take a chance on slightly cooler weather in and out of Florida.

We definitely enjoy all the S-Class ships, including Reflection (which we are going back to). We also enjoy the lazy sea days. So we are trying to decide if we will enjoy the relative lack of sea days out of San Juan, plus we wonder if we'll miss any features on the S-Class ships if we sail on the slightly smaller ship.

We are also concerned about smoke. I am highly sensitive to smoke, and know where to avoid on the S-Class ships. Where would some of you recommend booking if we want a C2 or C1 (depending on price) on the Summit? I know that if I'm on an S-Class, I want an even numbered room to avoid being above the smoking area. How about on an M-Class?

    Thoughts?

  11. First, you just never know what perks they will be offering.

Next, when you transfer to a new cruise, sometimes you retain the perks you got, sometimes you don't. There is no way to know what the PTB's will decide to do and change next year when they release the summer 2016 sailings..

I am sailing in June on Equinox. I decided to wait until that sailing to book my February 2016 cruise. Recent reports say that they were offering a classic package when booking on board, and I didn't expect the prices to start changing much between release and mid-June, so I'm waiting.

I think, that were I in your shoes, I would wait until the 2016 sailings were announced, in March of 2015, before making a financial commitment. I would NOT book a holiday 2014 cruise, because the announcements for summer 2016 will not have been made yet. The last couple of years, they start releasing in late February or early March for the new season that is a little over a year away.

  12. OP, I found a number of options on Tours by Locals. I'm signed up for a tour with a guy named Tom, who offers a Game of Thrones tour, and was willing to customize it for my group. We will be there in June. I'll do my best to come back here and post after the cruise, but will definitely post a review on the Celebrity board after the cruise.

We are really looking forward to our day in Croatia.

  13. It all depends on the service provided and the port.

On our last cruise, when we arrived, a porter told us to find a group of bags with tags like the ones we had and leave our bags with those. Definitely no tip there!

If they have to make tags for me, I'll tip. If I have to move my own bags and get no service, why should I give away my hard earned money?

  14. The family veranda rooms are only available by booking on the phone, and only with a family of 5 when booking early. They are made of a room with a king bed, a room with bunk beds, and a sofa for the 5th person.

Would you happen to have another niece or nephew to take along? Or perhaps one of their parents can go? You'll need extra paperwork to take the 16 year old out of the country as well. I'm not sure about the 18 y old.

  15. I think if I were in your shoes, I would call my favorite travel agent and book the room. I might invite a friend that I would enjoy traveling with, or at least ask to book the room using their name. I wouldn't just make up a person.

I agree that Celebrity does it to themselves by only offering guarantee rooms to doubles, not singles.

  16. I agree with those who find it a waste to carry the 90 could pill bottle for a couple of weeks worth of pills. My solution is to either call the mail order pharmacy and ask them to send me either labels or small labeled bottles for travel purposes. Another option is to get the Dr to write a Rx for a short refill and get them locally in the smaller bottle. I've been successful at this a couple of times by "accidentally" not getting my 90-day refill ordered in time and needing a short Rx to time me over. Another option is to ask for the meds to be packed in blister packs for travel purposes. Some pharmacies will do that. My local one will actually blister pack anything, even putting morning meds in one blister, evening meds in another, all with Rx labels

If you have a lot of meds, you may wish to pack them separately to make certain they stay with you.

For the liquids, pretty much anything goes as long as it is in the 100ML or under bottle and fits into a one quart bag.
