  1. hoping you guys may have some experience with this - I am going to be platinum on our next cruise - my son and husband are gold. I know that my benefits extend to them in terms of embarkation, etc - so no FTTF is needed there.

Here is where the twist comes - we are a tender heavy itin - they are going to go do some fun things together without mom tagging along :-) so, they would be leaving on tenders without me. That would mean (if I am not mistaken), they can not take advantage of platinum priority tendering, but would need that via the FTTF option - is that correct?

I booked the FTTF before I became platinum and don't want to let it go if they need it to take advantage of the priority tendering... hope that makes sense! any insight is appreciated.

  2. Really? That's interesting.

I contacted Carnival about our issues with FTTF and they offered us $50 OBC.

That credit has yet to be posted on My Cruise Manager.

The OP had two cabins so that explains the $100 vs $50. :-)

As to posting to your cruise manager - I have found lots of the true up for active cruises happens the week of your particular cruise (not always, but often) - it may be a simple logistical reason and it will be there in time.

If you are like me and want it confirmed LOL, I would ring back to be safe - like those above said - you will be on a cruise, that is the wonderful bit!

  3. Hi everyone!

I read that kids 9-11 can sign themselves in and out of Camp Carnival if the parents have given advanced permission. Do you (would you) allow your child to do this? Where would they go? If they go to the pools are there lifeguards on duty? My son is a strong swimmer but I still don't want him able to go swimming unattended.

Thanks! We've never been on a cruise before and don't know how this works :)

It is a big leap of faith as a parent, no? :-) I can only tell you about our son and how we handled it.

The first time we was able to sign himself out, it was a first step to independence in his eyes. My DH freaked, I just smiled when the discussions occurred as to whether or not my DS should be allowed to - in the end, he won :-).

We set rules as to what he can and cannot do once he leaves camp (for us, no swimming without supervision was one of them) - he had to immediately check in with us via walkie talkie to tell us he had left and where he was heading - which usually was getting a Bottomless bubbles drink and an ice cream and he would head straight to us after to tell us all about the camp adventures LOL (so much for the independent thing :-) ) But it made DS feel a bit more trusted by us and he never abused that in return.

It truly comes down to how comfortable you feel with it, maturity level and also trusting them - every child has a different rate they grow up at and as parents we are still responsible for them no matter what - just access it for your family and you will make the right choice I am certain :-)

Apologies for the lengthy response - just hard to convey in a short synopsis LOL

  4. Pineapple juice is good on a cruise. It helps keep the urethra clean from infection from micro-bodies found on a ship. Glad I could help.

And works exceptionally well with a variety of adult beverages LOL - I can confirm all juices, mixers are included in bottomless bubbles - including club soda and tonic :-)

  5. Exactly where does that hour go ?-- is it like dryer lint ?

it goes to that same bloody place that those socks go - you know, the friend to the first one, and then you are left with one!!! that is where they are, laughing at us, mocking us and sipping on a Long Island i tell ya!!!

  6. Cruising on the Legend in April out of tampa, flying in to Tampa at 8AM. We have been out of Port of Baltimore before and the porters have been there right when we pulled in to park, a few question we also have FFTF if that helps.

    1. Is getting a cab at TPA to Port of Tampa easy?

    2. Where does the taxi drop you off? Are the porters right there? Is where to go and what to do pretty obvious or is the terminal confusing?

    3. How is embarking from Tampa.

Any info on the Legend, tampa, embarkation, and debarkation would help.

Also does Legend offer luggage express.

You will a variety of opinions - mine included :-)

Cabs are readily available and get you to the port in around 20 - 30 minutes, depending on traffic. There are also port shuttles, so that may be an alternative.

The terminal is one of the easiest IMO - the cabs drop you off right up front and your getting on the ship is very straight forward - last time, we got through in 20 minutes.

We love Tampa - we are a bit biased as getting there and on the ship for us is less than an hour LOL but honestly, it is a great little port to travel through

Hope that info helps a bit - enjoy your cruise!

  7. My oldest son in a Manchester City fan, younger son likes Manchester United, and their Dad is an Arsenal fan. Makes for some interesting weekends when they are together!

BTW we live in the US.

My household is similar - son is Man U, husband West Ham, I am Bayern München - between the coaching, the games and then the Telly, we cover the footie spectrum LOL

  8. Hello all, somebody told me that Carnival offers special prices for bloody mary's , mimosas and screwdrivers in the am can anybody confirm this as we are gong on the Fascination this saturday and curious to what is the cost of these drinks in the am?

I know the mimosas were $5 and the offered a small and large Bloody Mary and screwdriver - with a variety of vodkas - I want to say the smaller one started at $5 as well but I can't honestly remember...

  9. I just looked into it and it's $49.94 a person.

No, it is $49.95 per CABIN :-) it states that in the description - I know when go to purchase it lists everyone, but just select a person and pay - have done this numerous times now :-)

  10. Sure, blame the phone... :) I hope it made you feel better doing that... ROTFLOL...

    Steve

I am apparently challenging the keyboard to bend to my will but it is not working LOL though I did find your roman to be worth it so it all worked out ok the end :-)

  11. Hi there - lots of active threads on this with tons of opinions, but for us, yes

Absolutely worth it - $49.95 for the whole family to get on quicker, to the roman right away and be able to enjoy ourselves without lugging our stuff about - love the priority tendering as well - we never get the ship early so don't take advantage of that feature LOL but I have heard that works really well too.

There are a couple of other perks as well, but those listed above are the ones we use constantly when we take FTTF and we love it....

  12. This ceuise we r on wait list for dinner. We have to use ytd. I like have having same staff everyday.

Sent from my SGH-T999 using Forums mobile app

You can have the same staff, even with YTD dining - we have done this now the past 3 cruises. We found a team we loved, asked for them and got seated in their section - and others did as well :-) we never had a longer wait then 20 minutes (on land, you end up waiting much longer); we would have a drink and chill and voila of we go.

  13. They most likely will not be too favorable given that things were still under construction - people have a lower tolerance and higher expectations when it comes to their holidays, which I totally understand.

Having said that, I think we need to look at the silver lining and say that they are working hard and are a business so have to keep moving forward

  14. Disco Ball??!!?? OH I would love to have one of those!! Can you still get them?

They are the BEST! I will get one more because all my girlfriends fight over it when we get together LOL

I know they rotate them every day, you can ask kindly too and they may get them for you - the gent that told me the disco ball was coming up went and fetched one for me

  15. Im getting one as soon as I get on the Magic in March!! I want a coconut one too. I have the blowfish!!:D

And there is a new blue fish I am after, and then my collection is complete! The disco ball is still the best though LOL
