  1. Also, keep in mind that this is a third party program who handles these move up bids, not just for Celebrity but for other lines as well.

They will always be offering move up bids, regardless of the availability.  It is for the purpose of collecting data, to determine what the market will bear.  When passengers bid, the info is used to see how much people are willing to pay for certain types of cabins.  It is a very useful marketing tool for the industry.

If you appreciate exceptional food, a consideration may be for you to book the Chef's Table experience.  There is a pretty expensive fee attached (unsure of what exactly it is on your particular sailing), usually in excess of $100 per person.  If you have an abundance of on board credit, it could be used for this.  It is an amazing experience and takes several hours.  It is a small and intimate group, and if you advise them ahead of time, I'm sure they will recognize your special occasion as well.

I am a workaholic by nature and I like having something to do...

You can come to my house.  The entire house could use a good scrubbing top to bottom.  The garage needs cleaned out.  The garden and flower beds all need to be sorted and planters moved to the barn.

I'm lazy by nature . . . so I'll take your vacations and spend them all on TA's!

    I'm envious of your drive!

For the life of me I cannot understand why Cruise Critic participants insist on denigrating an activity when somebody is just asking for guidance.  It is fine to not participate in something.  It is equally fine to do so.  If you are not interested in an activity, and somebody is asking for help, negative comments are not helping them.  Why can't people just resist being negative?

    Agree 100%.

As far as responding to the actual questions the OP asked, I have brought a bottle of local wine or local unique candy.  I have received candy (pralines from down south), and a small cookbook which was easy enough to pack, both of which I enjoyed.

    Have a wonderful cruise!

You may be surprised how many people ask can they have a ride in my wheelchair.

even more who see it as a handy place to lean or rest their foot.

Holy cow, I know I would be surprised.  Can't imagine why someone would even think to do those things.

There are some really stupid dumb-a$$ people out there.

Completely gobsmacked.  Maybe these people were raised by wolves?

  6. And that is exactly the issue with which I have concern.

On land, local authorities document dog bites with repercussions, depending on the city/county/state.  But on a cruise ship, and across cruise lines?

Suppose dog on board bites a passenger, then goes on another cruise and bites someone else.  Whether on the same cruise line or not, how would this dog be flagged so that the line is aware of the previous incidents?  Is it possible for this animal to go from ship to ship without anyone being aware of his "rap sheet"?

  7.

Are these laws, rules and regulations are all US?  And would they apply to cruise ships?

So, if a dog who bites another passenger is not a "proper service dog" (and how can this be determined?), what can be done?  Which goes back to my original question, who has authority if the cruise line does nothing?

  8. I hope the OP comes back after the cruise to let us know how it went.

I've traveled numerous times with three other women staying in tiny hotel rooms.  We all agree to bring minimal stuff, and to keep it organized and put away when not needed.  And yes, since it's only a 5 day trip, should be cake to do only carry on.

    Have a great vacation!

Good luck, and I hope a) that the bite was not serious, and b) that you do not hold this one dog's actions against all dogs.  After all, the good Lord was only practicing when he made humans, but perfected his work when he made dogs.  At least that's my opinion.  We lost the little guy who is in my picture just this past July after 16-1/2 years, and our hearts are still broken.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  I am a massive animal lover.  I'm too embarrassed to even list how many animals I have (or who have me).  😉

I would not have gotten off the ship without copies. I'm sorry this happened to you. Do you mind providing details of what happened? I also have a few questions for my own curiosity...1) was the dog leashed? 2) was the dog on the floor?

Jenny, I sent you a message through your blog  😊

  11. Thanks for your responses.

Security report was done.  Medical exam and report was done.   Witness reports were made.  This was not the result of an intentional interaction with the animal.

The cruise is over and the cruise line has yet to provide copies of these reports despite repeated requests.

Since this happened "at sea", I'm interested in what agency has jurisdiction regarding the dog bite being reported.

  12. Has anyone heard of a passenger being bitten by a dog whilst on board a cruise?  I'm wondering how that should be handled, and who would be "in charge" of reporting it, and to whom.  I know there are specific dog bite laws in the US on land, but who handles it at sea?

I've heard lots of opinions and guesses, but haven't been able to determine any facts.

Howdy neighbors!  I have friends on this cruise, and I have been really enjoying following along with Paul's blog.  When I ran across your post and saw your town, I thought there was no way you really live in Mattawa!  I'm only an hour away, also in a little teeny tiny agricultural town.  Small world.  I'll keep an eye out for you two on my upcoming voyages.

  14. There is a thread here all about the staff of the Celebrity ships and I asked this question and received this information.  Obviously this is who is currently there, not who will be there in December, but it's a start.

I keep looking through this thread but I can't figure out who the Captain and CD of the Silhouette currently are.  If any has this information and would be willing share, it would be appreciated!

    Thanks.

Captain George and Bethany Moorhouse is the CD.
